The truth is is that the famine did occur, but it wasn't specially designed by bloodthirsty Stalin to kill Ukrainians just for teh lulz. The famine swept much of the population of various parts of the USSR, including Ukraine, Kazachstan, parts of Russia and so on. It was a consequence of retarded policies, but by no means an intentional genocide.
Countries like Ukraine and other former Soviet republics had to create their history from scratch, and what could possibly unify a group of people better than a tragedy?
