Blame is a stupid concept anyway, there is always some community within which your participation applies forces on global stuff. Do you boycott oil? Well your personal choices did in some minute way affect the oil wars that USA has led against the middle east. Is it your fault? Probably not. Could you stop it in any way? Probably not.
The only criticism I have against his analysis (not his solutions) is his choice of when to stop calling it imperialism. We're still riding a wave of economic forces that were started centuries back. The swell of fundamentalism and progressivism here or there is still just reactions to previous global economic and social events. These are the consequences of actions taken hundreds of years ago which were again based off a bunch of smaller economic and ideological forces putting things into motion.
Whether you want to build a wall or invite a dozen refugees to live in your wife's bedroom is a small detail in the crisis. So according to him, Europeans in general have an obligation to help people fleeing from libya, syria, iraq etc, because European countries (NATO members) contributed to the crisis that is taking place.
He is totally correct in the statement that EU NATO members did indeed contribute to the crisis, but why does he not address the fact that the majority of the European people never wanted to bomb e.g Libya in the first place, and that the decisions to go to war and support military action is done without a popular mandate by a selected few in power?
Does he have any idea of the special interests and lobby groups that pushed for adverse military action that has contributed to the current crisis?
Does he really think that the average European wanted to bomb arabs and thats why they have an obligation to help refugees?
Does he genuinly believe that the average European person wanted to overthrow Assad or Gaddafi?
