In late October that year, we got hit by a massive hurricane(which especially devastated my area) and much of our East Coast was incapacitated. As president, Obama was able to speak to many more people and took charge effectively during the crisis.
Meanwhile, Romney limited his campaigning and mainly stayed in western states doing nothing. He was tying and sometimes even beating Obama in the polls but the storm made him lose ground and he was never able to recover.
If Geert isn't out there constantly the media and his dozens of opposed candidates will eat him up.
Because all the media criticism and mockery of Trump gets to people. They are afraid of supporting him publicly because if he fucks up they will look like a fool. Criticizing Trump is the save and comfortable bet.
