It had it's moments and was all around the best thing on for a while.
The writers probably knew not to make Dale too smart about government corruption. Imagine how fast it would have been canceled if Dale had said "See the real power is in all the money we use. The Big Banks at the top get to issue easy credit for every illegal alien their Big Industry buddies put to work and all we get is cheap Alamo Beer and discounts at Mega Lo Mart. We're getting the short end of the stick."
That kind of talk is forbidden on national television.

I think the fact that worked with pesticides all the time and was paranoid and possibly cognitively impaired was enough of a call to skepticism. He was effectively blinded by the tools of his labor. That's a very interesting idea though.

Well it was an interesting situation.
Dale was the guy who "knew everything". He was always in control, always had a stance on everything, and seemed to have absolutely no idea the kid wasn't his son.
