I was never actually a big Game Grumps guy, as I'm 31, so I think I was kind of too old for that. Much later after they peaked I watched a few dozen of their videos and enjoyed them. Followed some of the "What happened?" threads on Sup Forums. Just kind of lurked and got an impression of the situation.
Seems to me that it's the classic story of Arin wanting to sell out in some respect and Jon wanting to be a real nigger and whatever surrounding drama. Jon was "replaced" and nu-Game Grumps continued on like it was a machine, and Jon went off and rebuilt himself almost from scratch, though with him some visibility and fans.
And along with Arin's hush hush attitude about everything (there was apparently a Miiverse post about Jon that triggered Arin and was edited out of a LP of Mario 3D World), and Jon's openness and willingness to be honest about things, the conclusion I've come to is Arin has some kind of bullshit up his ass and Jon is probably the better guy in all of this.
He's probably too business aware to even talk about politics in public.
Don't get me wrong, I applaud Jon for being out there, but it's not a smart decision from a business standpoint to do what he's doing.
