the place i used to work was set up by a charity organisation, everyone working there was a schizo and every single one of them was on the dsp. most of them hadnt been psychotic for decades and seemed completely normal (a couple were a worry especially in the kitchen with all the big knives around). the government lately is trying to kick younger people off of the dsp but i think all the over 40s are safe. like you said its just bad luck.
