Another fun fact: only ten cities in the USA have a population over 1 million, when only counting the city proper which is absolutely ridiculous since we have a population of 330 million people.

One of the strongest factors in the 1960's was rising crime. It wasn't entirely due to crime - but crime was a major part of the story. Whites were ethnically-cleansed by crime and violence.
Canadian cities also suburbanized, but since they never suffered crime explosions, they remained somewhat more dense than American ones.
Cities are noisy, smelly and expensive places with terrible schools and come with a not-insignificant chance of becoming a crime victim.
Why would anyone live there is the better question.

just bought a house in the suburbs 20 miles outside of birmingham, alabama (3rd most dangerous city in the US).
the place is *the* white flight destination for middle class in AL right now. homes fly off the market within 3 or 4 days.
live in a nice, clean subdivision with beautiful yards. white and honorary white ppl everywhere. birds literally sing all day long. quiet as my parent's country home. children play in the streets in the afternoon as freshly washed cars slowly drive by. everyone friendly. city is getting tons of tax revenue. schools are great. has every lol chain restaurant you could want (though the city itself is kinda ugly in that utilitarian stripmall American way). American flags hung outside of most homes. I'd say 100% of the homes have a pistol in them and around 60% have some type of assault rifle. Housing prices being driven up to keep blacks out - also leading to any house you buy being a great investment.
Why would you not want to live in such a place?
Can Birmingham (the city) be saved, or is it hopeless due to demographics?

well. they're gentrifying the fuck out of downtown. some of the downtown areas around 1st and 2nd ave used to be complete hell but now are full of trendy architecture or advertising firms. remodeled historic buildings, swanky streets, really good birmingham aesthetics. nice cars everywhere. wouldn't go there after dark tho...and I sure as hell wouldn't live there.
but then again, some of the areas in 1st or 2nd ave (like around the stadium) are 'gentrified' but you can still get shot in a heartbeat. I don't know if they'll be able to save b'ham. it's such an odd city. I mean, mountain brook and vestavia are objectively some of the nicest places to live in the US. but wild nogs cross into their borders and rob/kill people randomly (happened to a friend of mine, held at gunpoint in mountain brook). ultimately, I think the dam will burst in b'ham. if the (((international cliques))) start funding blm again and some goodboy is shot in bham and blacks riot...and carry their riot into white suburbs in or around b'ham, all hell could break loose.

no, I don't have mountain brook money - no one does. I moved to moody. tons of young conservative families are flocking there. median age of the city is like 31. whenever you ask middle class white women in alabama (best white flight radars in the world) where the best communities to move to are, moody is at the top of the list.
I agree with the public school statement. I'm most likely going to homeschool (went to both public and private school) and get the kids involved in sports. but it's a nice asset for a community to have.
As far as assault rifles. I've met four neighbors. two are gun guys who have ar15's. There's a definite mindset to whites right now (especially in the South) that is guiding them for a 'just in case' type of mindset. It's one of the reasons they (and I) are moving to such places. Hell, when touring houses, every house I saw had at least a pistol and all but two had rifles out in the open.

Minorities and a cultural shift. During the 1950's there was massive investment by the federal government to construct interstates and highways. It was thought that running highways through cities would facilitate creation of wealth. The growing middle class which was able to purchase cars and homes took advantage of the newly constructed highways to live outside of cities where one could own their own little plot of land and live the American dream.
Cities are becoming white again as manufacturing and manual labor jobs are decreasing in prevalence and service/technical jobs become more important. Because these are located in dense population centers, people want to move back in to be close to work as well as enjoy the perceived entertainment benefits of living in a city, as well as lose hassles like property taxes, maintenance, cars, etc.
Because we want to be left alone to live our lives without nigger and other shitskins drama. Also most likely, its about schools. Segregated schools work much better. "Busing" and other social, multiculturalist engineering pisses people off and dumbs down education.
