There was an esign contest there for middle schoolers that I entered back in 2002. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners would win a trip to Chisinau and $1k, $500 and $100 respectively. Back then I was like 13 so I didn't know much about Moldova, thought it was just a generic European country.
I won like 3rd place but decided not to go there. I think that was a good decision in retrospect. They probably kidnap people or something
