I can see where he and even Botha were coming from. We had a lot of international pressure (sanctions, embargos etc) and it wasn't easy living under those conditions. Their intentions were probably good, by relaxing some of the laws they thought they'd get everyone off our backs. I still feel that in the end we should have just given the blacks a few provinces of their own to form their own state like we tried with the Bantustans, but done it properly and maybe even helped them out a bit better with them so that they wouldn't have still been flocking over to us for work like they did.
