I strongly dislike the Canadian mandates concerning it's animation industry, and now with PC culture influencing it's legislation; C-16 and the human rights council etc. I feel that all western animation will eventually homogenize into a idea safe media, restricting expression, not for the sake of equity but at behest of legal enforcement.

Back to whatever shithole you came from.

nice post

Why are you so upset

that's a cute girl
maybe a bit on the young side but I'm bad at judging ages

Is my post not reasonable? How would suppose I improve my initial argument? Or do you have a rebuttal? I'd like to hear you out.

She's of age, married and has a child.

Her husband looks like a fucking cuck though

As if the industry isn't already homogeneous as fuck.

>mandates
>animation
If this is a thing in your country, you don't live in a free country.

Labor and safety laws should be the only things necessary to govern art. If your government tells you what you can and can't draw, you might as well live in a 3rd world shithole.

Could you elaborate? We're not all familiar with your country's laws, buddy.

I feel like OP isn't telling us something.
Like I doubt there's really any regulation concerning animation aimed at adults, then again Canada never produced any.

Look on the bright side, faggot: if the future you fear ever comes true, nobody can make an entire cartoon calling you out for being such a little bitch.

dat girl

I am canadian and OP is gay

You are wrong and uninformed

I didn't consider this, but with the way things are going, I can't disagree with that being a possibility.

Personally, I'm attempting to work on an independent animation group with other artists to make explicitly experimental animation. I feel like staying outside the studio system is the most surefire way to maintain creative vision that may not follow the grain.

For instance, right now we're working on an animation about basically a near future where america goes full brazil tier, and amongst other predictive scifi, essentially it's about offending snd frightening americans into realizing things going to shit is absolutely possible and can happen very very quickly. I was born and lived in a foreign country long enough to see it go from a livable place to a socialist mad max hellhole, and I'm absolutely seeing the signs of the same social decay happening in america.

Anyway not to harp on about that, but yeah, if Canadians want to make something that big brother government doesn't want them to do, just make things independently and obfuscate any real similarities with a studio, if you take government money of course they're going to meddle in your affairs.

Also, if you want non homogenous art, you either have to fund it yourself, or make it yourself. There's a myriad of places to do this and therrs a lot of influence to take from outside of just animation to take from artistically.

Canada's generous tax grants tactically manipulating animation studios from hiring any foreign talent.

With section C-16, it's a gateway to more promotion of political correctness being enforced on the studios.

You know why America will never go full shithole?
Literally everybody and their mother has guns
An armed society is a polite society.

Your project sounds like a boring piece of propaganda.

> being enforced

Stop being an autist, no one is forcing them. They want money, they have to follow the rules of the people who give it to them.

> and I'm absolutely seeing the signs of the same social decay happening in america.

People have been saying this since the goddamn end of WWII and yet it hasn't happened.

With the universities and businesses doing mandatory political correctness classes in Canada, it wouldn't be a stretch for studios to do so as well.

And the punitive costs at the hands of the Human right's court, guaranteeing you to lose if you even so disagree from the PC opinion. It's happened a few times already.

Maybe I should have been clearer: explain what actually happens, do not just reiterate buzzwords.

Interesting. Source?

Sorry i killed your kid at that school. No i mean it i'm sorry

Culture isn't fixed or heading towards an unalterable end. Things will change again, just as they've changed before.

Frankly we've been through more vocal demands of "think of the children" and that everything be made PC, non-sexual and non-violent in the '80s and '90s than we have now, and back then it actually seemed to be gaining traction among more regular people.

Now most regular people are desensitized and don't give a shit - Think about the criticisms The Simpsons received when it started airing, as tame as it fucking was, and compare it to how few people give a shit about the gore, abuse and rape humor Family Guy now gets away with. Europeans of course, have never given a fuck about America's relatively puritan morality when it comes to sex or sexiness.

Things might not be going in the direction you think they are. The tiny minority of PC keyboard warriors have their voices massively over amplified simply due to the nature of the internet and its quest for clickbait.

Wtf is this and how will it effect cartoons as long as they dont drop the fucking n bomb?

>we had a kid go full Murrican in a school in my country recently
>he had a shotgun, grenades, the works
>he lightly injured 4 people
Gotta to give it to the fatsos, at least they're good at it.

Why would you give me such hope, user?

Eh, maybe. It's subtextual, and I haven't given any of the other details about the actual concept of it. I'm confident that it's coming out good. And hey, it's coming out period, that's more than can be said for those countless projects of people bemoaning the animation industry but never nutting up and putting down their time and money into it.

That's reasonable, my country banned guns and now everyone gets shot and their organs get robbed all the time.

However, consider this: the liberal cities, for the most part, aren't aed, just the police. Those cities also have high crime rates. If the cops quit in texas, people could defend themselves. But in the cities? It could turn into a massacre, especially since the macho culture inherent in crime is in opposition to liberal cultural ideologue.

So what you have is a situation where the biggest consumers of natural produce get butchered. No big whoop, right? But they're also the biggest technological centers, so buck back home on his farm suddenly gets incomunicated. And from there it's a very dangerous path that leads to food trucks not getting delivered, and then people starve.

It's a complete hypothetical and likely won't happen, but it's fun to imagine different scenarios like this.

>those strategically placed white spots making her appear thinner
REEEEEEE DECEPTIVE ROASTIE GET OUT

>it hasn't happened
You sure about that?

No, despite what extremists from both sides like to say, america is still a mostly functional society.

>posting a picture more interesting than the topic at hand

Soo, who's the chick?

He can't, buzzwords about 'teh PC brigade' are his whole argument.

Basically the rule says that in order to get a government grant you have to satisfy non-discrimination standards. You know, not promoting hate propaganda, showing that you give women and LGBT ppl a fair chance rather than just hiring straight white guys because that's who the boss identifies with.

And it's not forcing anyone to do anything, its just that if you want gov money to assist your projects, you have to play by their rules.

>I haven't given any of the other details about the actual concept of it.
It's not exactly hard to infer: America turned to shit because liberals are pussies. How fucking interesting.

But yeah, good on you for getting something out.

They're just mad that you shook them out of their shitty ivory towers. Expect to see more shitbirds like this in the near future, and ruin their day accordingly.

I really hope Japan doesn't get infected by this bull

This is her Twitch: sincerelylyn

Thanks user. I'll check her out sometime. CUTE

Isn't that normal standards of business in the US though? Why would it suddenly lead to only safe animation in Canada?

If there are quotas, they are going to be enforced. And regardless of whether you think the rules are a good thing, they do put limitations on creative control.

What do you mean "if they want money" are you telling me Canada pays taxes for it's tv programs like Britain but has private companies on the side?

Don't be a faggot, OP.

Who is this fluid druid?

>grenades
Where the fuck did he get a hold of grenades? I'm pretty sure it's almost impossible to acquire fragmentation grenades in the US.

System founded on bribery. Leftist moral standards of the highest order. You share our fucked up policies - you get money. You don't? You get hit with some bogus discrimination law.

>mostly functional

That's pretty fuckin' generous, user.

>What do you mean "if they want money" are you telling me Canada pays taxes for it's tv programs like Britain but has private companies on the side?
You mean like the UK and 99% of countries that have tax-funded TV? What you thought only the governement was allowed to broadcast in those countries?

> generous

Please tell me how america is a failed state like Haiti or something, then.

From his grandpa's collection iirc.
Also not in the US, in France.

Nah, it's not close to that. It's about a guy on the job. The world is full of bizarre mutants and a ruined apocalyptic landscape, but everyone goes on like nothing is happening, almost like they're in denial about the whole thing. Essentially it's like a looney tunes short directed by aphex twin and with a lot of horror elements like body horror and urban decay. It's completely apolitical and has more to do with infrastructure issues like the California water wars, construction taxes, the job economy, (the protag uses something similar to uber), and social regression in terms of cognitive dissonance between nature and society.

Just cause I didnt want to bore you with the details to not be a dick so we could still tall about animation stuff doesn't mean you gotta be a little rascal about it.

>What you thought only the governement was allowed to broadcast in those countries?

Where'd you get that?

State-funded art has almost always been quite directive, regardless of the governements in place.

>if it's not South Africa levels of terrible, it must be a first world country

>are you telling me Canada pays taxes for it's tv programs like Britain but has private companies on the side

What the fuck did you mean then?

Ah, that makes sense. What sort of shotgun did he have?

...

>It's completely apolitical
It really isn't. I think you mean non-partisan.
>Just cause I didnt want to bore you with the details to not be a dick so we could still tall about animation stuff doesn't mean you gotta be a little rascal about it.
It seemed you had no problem boring us with your actual off-topic theories, which believe it or not, imply a certain bias.

No, but it's better than say, Somalia, and it IS in the mostly fuctional category.

Shit like this has zero chance of actually happening.

You people are just fearmongers.

Dunno, assumedly something not very efficient at killing people.

B-but muh dystopian fiction where only real men and women would survive!

Of course, but state-funding and politics of a carrot and a stick are two different things. Here you clearly either get the carrot or a stick. Either in the form of legal action or ire from NGOs (which are still government funded, at least in part, if they share the "party line").

I don't even mind the whole snowflake gender thing but the term "sex assigned at birth" annoys me to no end.
It's not assigned, and it's before birth.
There are some exceptions like physical hermaphrodites who the parents decide to treat as female or male, but really that's it.

Hey, maybe that's more accurate.
In any case the theory stuff was in response to some guy in the thread. I don't see how the other stuff about going indie and not directly calling yourself a studio to avoid government mandates isn't related to OP's topic.

> keep talking about the stick
> can't give details or post sources
> but it totally happened

Suuuure.

>you don't live in a free country.
That's the core issue: people in the West are getting tired of freedom

Muh dystopian future where SJWs make heterosexual white people a hunted and oppressed minority!

Source of an animation company that got "the stick". Because here I'm really only seeing the carrot, and that's what state-funding is.

Cartoons are no more PC today than they were in the 80's and 90's. The only thing that's changed is now we have millennial right-wingers that constantly bitch about PC culture when cartoons arguably have fucking more free speech today than they did in the 80's and 90's.

It's like people bitching that we could never have blazing saddles made today because it used the n-word 14 times when we had fucking boondocks and Django not too long ago. Nevermind that blazing saddles got protested when it came out and it only flew based on context and the way the characters related to each other.

I'm not OP and I'm speaking in broader terms. But still applying this train of though to what Canada does it's easy to point out what happened to Jordan Peterson as an example.

>and it's before birth.

Not to be nitpicky, but there's still a margin of error for certain tests. It's overall lower than 5%, but there's a very small chance that you end up with something different than you were told.

>They want money, they have to follow the rules of the people who give it to them.
Just like with loan sharks.

You joke, but it's not a bad idea for something like Injustice/Justice Lords, but with the current way Marvel heroes are written atm. Although it's less "dystopia" and more "shit the populace puts up with in exchange for safety but it's getting to them".

>Jordan Peterson
>Jordan B. Peterson (born 1962) is a Canadian clinical psychologist, tenured professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. His research interests include self-deception, mythology, religion, narrative, neuroscience, personality, deception, creativity, intelligence, and motivation.
Where are his animation credentials?

When was the last time you were forced to get a loan from a loan shark?

>You joke, but it's not a bad idea for something like Injustice/Justice Lords,
What did he mean by this?

That's an error on the part of the machinery and/or the doctor. It doesn't mean you're not male or female still in the womb.

Yes, there's a margin of error for *detecting* the sex right before birth, but the sex is already determined biologically before birth (again in 99% of cases).

But it did happen. It does happen. All over the world, all the time, countries can go to shit in the blink of an eye.

Have you seen what's happening in romania? Full on communist revolution and people getting gunned down in the streets while criminals put in for political crimes get broken free. In fucking korea? The ceo of Samsung got fucking arrested and no one says a peep. Brazil? Cops just up and quit like in that hypothetical scenario I put up and now people are dying due to gang violence. It's not a hypothetical in the world, it actually is happening right now.

I'm from fucking venezuela, man, I've seen how it goes, you think your country and infrastructure is safe, you think you could never get to a bad spot and thst things will keep chugging like always, so you turn a blind eye to growing crime and the government becoming more predatory and food becoming more scarce and things becoming more expensive

And then you wake up and realize things have gotten so bad people are kidnapping kids off the street to eat them.

That's why I want to make that animated thing, man, because I've seen it happen, and americans are so full of hubris and such utter cognitive dissonance when it comes to the reality of cultures and societies dying and rebirthing, of the reality that nature is cruel and that simple small things can amount to apocalyptic damage before you know it. Don't fucking bury your nose in the dirt like an ostrich. At the very least be aware of the world around you.

It's not fear mongering, it's reality.

We see this with comedy stand ups and skits who supposedly go "Too Far" now a days.

So why are you pretending the left wing doesn't censor at all and all the censors are evil right wingers?

Or are you seriously trying to pretend SJWs don't exist?

Where are your reading comprehension credentials? I said I'm not OP and that I'm talking in broader terms about such policies.

That has utterly no chance of ever happening in America and if it did, it would be anti-SJWs and alt-righters gunning down minorities of all types.

You are utterly deluded.

We see what?
South Park still being on the air?

You see it in the Philippines as well, upon the "good intentions" of ridding the streets of drugs, thousands are being gunned down, and quickly from a very western friendly country, changed into a more socialist government.

Well no wonder grandpa had that shotgun.
Whoever he killed wasn't very good at picking out a descent killing gun.

You're really going down the route of "only alt-right types are evil and anyone who has a problem with left wing ideas are hitler?" You're really going to pretend that only ONE side can be violent and evil while the other side is pure and innocent, despite history saying that ANYONE can be evil in the right circumstances?

The key difference is that those complaints in the 80s and 90s came from small, localized groups with too much power for anybody's good; that wasn't a culture, that was soccer moms and fundies clustered together.

Nowadays, however, it IS a culture. It's a doctrine far more widespread over the hemisphere that flows into and OUT OF the common citizenry. It's like when the people from Marvel cheered at Norman Osborn becoming the head of SHIELD.

>In fucking korea? The ceo of Samsung got fucking arrested and no one says a peep.
Pretty sure there have been huge anti-governement protests for months.

For what it's worth every time I've talked to a Romanian outside of Sup Forums, they were more in the "I miss communism" camp.

>US
>growing crime
Yeah, really not.

...

In that case, it wasn't MUH SJWS who ran that country into the ground. In fact, it was just the opposite, people on the right end of the political spectrum.

Why can't you fucking stay on the board topic, asshole?
This thread is about how governement could negatively influence animation, not how it can negatively impact literally anything.
If you have nothing to say about animation, then keep the rest to yourself.

Fuck off, faggot. Cartoons are way less pc than they were in the past.

>it's a "Venezuelan lived through a communist revolution and has PTSD about it episode"

Well if you believe that, keep telling yourself that, man, maybe I'm just a crazy bum speaking out his asshole. Keep telling yourself everything is fine, maybe it is. I'm telling you from personal experience, from example, that it's really really easy for a, any country, poor or rich, to fly too close to the sun and fall into ruin. I don't think it's a bad thing to just remind people of that.

But anyway this is all offtopic so enough with the HAPPENINGS

>So why are you pretending the left wing doesn't censor at all and all the censors are evil right wingers?
In no way does his post imply that.

>So why are you pretending the left wing doesn't censor at all and all the censors are evil right wingers?

>Or are you seriously trying to pretend SJWs don't exist?

Where the fuck did I say any of that? I said that cartoons today are no more PC than they were in the 80's and 90's.

The only thing that I said about rightwingers is that they are the ones bitching about things being more PC today when they fucking aren't more PC and there's objectively less censorship.

Is Sup Forums really that deluded into thinking that left wing values can NEVER turn violent and only right wing values are evil and must be purged?

Every political ideology can get out of hand if you LET IT.

When has there ever been an instance of SJWs committing violent crime? SJWism, annoying movement that it is, is a pretty peaceful movement. At worst, you have tumblrites condescendingly explaining concepts like 'two-spirit' or whatever in a Youtube video or harassing someone they disagree with on a college campus.

Anti-SJWs, alt-righters, and racists are far worse. It doesn't even REMOTELY make sense for people like you to act like SJWs are this bad when you have every reason to think those on the opposing side are far worse.

the left in America are too busy sucking up their own assholes right now to do jack shit

Read Orwell's essays, and Hobbes, and Voltaire, and Cicero. They should give you a basis.

>Is Sup Forums really that deluded into thinking that left wing values can NEVER turn violent and only right wing values are evil and must be purged?
No, literally only one guy said that. But I guess Sup Forumsmblr yadda yadda.
