Multiculturalism

It really means anticulturalism, because even though it may contain bits and pieces of watered down cultures from various origins, they're all weak and have no real standing in the actions and conduct of the people; and it stands in the way of real, legitimate culture

Wew dat hive mind.

Privileged
Under represented

Nobody ITT understands that point Orwell was trying to make. Newspeak was intended to simplify/dumb down the language to make it more difficult to describe complex concepts. By vastly limiting the vocabulary it would make it much harder to question the orthodoxy of the party.

It has nothing to do with PC terms. Read the book you mongs.

everyone else is terrible at this:

>fake news
>alternative facts

They bitch about over population then give globalist money to feed 3rd worlders, then they out breed the gibs and start starving and it's "just bring em here"

Nation of Immigrants

Lol America is a nation of conquerers and rebels.

It's a different concept but has the same effect, inventing new words or rebranding old ones confuses communication

Fake news = Newsfake.

moderate rebels

undocumented immigrant

Dumb down to control. It just happened differently, they use words that sound smart and pervert the meaning to some dumb fuck Marxist programming philosophy.

this guy gets it. It's about taking the joy out of speaking.

CIS

That's a good point.

well in that case, pretty much all of these are fucking hilarious and not doing the job at all

its still language control

by redefining "racism" to mean something only white people can do, you can justify all kinds of nasty shit done to white people.

while its not the same exact thing as Newspeak, its still language manipulation designed to oppress and silence.

...

You are quite wrong, a big part of Newspeak was "doublethink" or phrases that have weird tendencies to mean contradictory things.

For example, liberals tend to say that race is not a real thing, while at the same time calling for more racial diversity. That is classic doublethink.

I've noticed they've added a layer of contempt when they say it that wasn't there when Bernie was relevant.

good+ think but OP ask for newspeak

Yeah exactly, wtf was that guy talking about. I used to be extremely liberal but the hypocrisy, cognitive dissonance, and lack of pragmatism takes its toll on a lot of positions. Doublethink and newspeak go hand in hand. You change the way language frames reality, people assess the world from that perspective and things go a bit differently.

I don't like how seemingly in one day, everyone decided if you don't want every single immigrant to be immediately and automatically accepted into the country, you're racist if not a Literal Nazi. That logical gap scares the shit out of me.

O shit it's the thought police.

Everyone keep cool

They've literally killed the word "progress/progressive", in that we subconsciously associate the word with it's opposite meaning... we all know the "progressive' part of town that's full of niggers that don't work, high crime, everything is run-down and filthy.... this is what we are forced to call progress, even though we know it's that obviously not true.
.

that image is aesthetic as fuck. sauce?

really makes you think

I don't think doublethink was a part of newspeak itself it just makes it a bit easier.

You're both kind of right and I'd argue these new words and phrases make it easy for people to doublethink without generally realising. The word "racism" is an excellent example of this, it puts a handle on this concept we are told is very bad, and it can be used on social issues (e.g. refugees) where to the indoctrinated mind it helps makes complete sense of an issue in favour of the establishment but to the logical mind it does not. Other such words include "diversity," "tolerance," and "supremacy."

Typing this I realise what often seems important is the tone of the word itself. in simplifying a complex set of ideas into one concept to either embrace or revile, is the person communicating being influenced on the issue while they are thinking and speaking by the very language they are using? I.e. how positive or negative it makes any concept or ideology sound.

Honestly, this is one of the stupidest of all the newspeak terms. Read some Greek, and you'll find "nomos" (custom) used instead of "social construct." It's like people willingly forgot what a "custom" is.

Underrated

Pc terms strictly limit the meaning of words to cultural Marxist context

Ie blacks cant be racist because "racism" is "power +privilege."

New speak was about limiting the definition of words and this is removing the commonly used definition of racism which has a highly negative connotation in the English language

The same with microaggression. Statements and phrase are interpreted only with respect to the power + privilege framework

Go back and read 1984 again and i would also suggest animal farm

good ones

That's not quite it. The renaissance also saw a simplification of Latin through elimination of complex theological and philosophic and legal jargon in favor of a restricted set of terms Cicero would have understood, and that led to the flowering of humanist Latin, one of the richest and most expressive periods in Latin literature.

That's the concern with changing language like that, and it's what signifies the genius of Orwell. A lot of people who were once leftist remember that eery silence they had to foster within their own minds - that there were ideas whose expression were intolerable, and therefore that there were thoughts that could not be risked lest they be said or implied in some way as a result. The leftist learns first to be ashamed and afraid of the incorrect positions and this becomes an infection that must spread from his mouth to his mind. For such loud individuals, many of us found leftism marked by a deep and unsettling silence.

It should in particular be concerning how the left has reformed the notions of love and hate (or fear) to be affixed to those notions that go against the position. There is a party of love and a party of hate in our countries now, rather than thought and feeling as it ebbs and flows in its complexity. There are -isms and -phobias to describe dissent, rather than the notion of dissent with its capacity for reason. There is no reason, one may be angry or fearful, but reason is precluded against by the invention of the -isms and -phobias, which make impossible any discussion towards many of the greatest ideas of man. We should be suspicious of such a large portion of the population amassed by a childish need to affix such simplistic metadata to the world in order to categorize it.

Vibrant diversity with *Asians* makes multi culturalism our strength and strengthens our values.

Hm, just listing newspeak terms creates an average sentence in the politician of the day. Makes ya think.

>dont judge the group by the actions of a few
Someone is taking this thread a little too personally

We're heading towards a Brave New World rather than 1984

> sexual orgies and degeneration is encouraged
> importing lower IQ people to control the overall IQ of the population
> dissenters are not killed necessarily, but made to be irrelevant in some way

I know it's kind of hackneyed to pull the "both" card but I sincerely believe there is an argument to be made for both.

Huxley held that we would be dehumanized by being rendered into our animal form. We'd be sold on the notion that true freedom and actualization are found only in the endless extension of base pleasures, being enslaved by our appetites in the process. Civilized behavior is the fundamental and ongoing condition of not only civilization, but humanity itself. That was the genius and foresight of Huxley.

But the protection of that hedonistic dystopia necessitates a restriction on which thoughts and ideas can exist in the public domain. Orwell believed we would be dehumanized not by falling into animalistic behavior as the result of a lax public order, but by being turned into these robotic automata through the unrealistically strict control of acceptable thoughts and ideas.

I think the truth is that we've managed both. In those things that required our restraint - vices and indulgences - we've given ourselves over completely. For our tools of conflict - our speech and physical means of confrontation, those things which must never be restricted - we've found increasing excuses to limit ourselves. We've become, in the process, a populace that acts like animals and justifies it like robots.

German: "Wutbürger" ("angry redneck" or "grumpy civilian")

Describes someone who is not a complete marxist (aka right wing extremists)

Emojis are newspeak. Normies on Facebook sometimes speak purely in emojis. Just recently my android phone started replacing auto corrected words with suggested emojis. E.G Type on the word "bee" and a bee symbol is suggested
