better analogy
Marvin and his friends are sitting around in their part of the world, doing nothing, accomplishing nothing, wallowing in pools of feces and mud. They're happy like this, for the most part aside from when one of them rapes and murders another.
Sam and his friends decide they're not happy with wallowing in shit for all eternity, so they decide to build things and be creative. They invent houses, cars, ways of providing more food for their families. They're successful, happy and productive.
Marvin sees this and gets jealous. Why does Sam get to have everything and he and his family gets nothing? Marvin doesn't consider the fact that Marvin and his kin have done nothing with their lives and never bothered to try to improve their situation. They beg Sam, "please, oh great Sam, give me stuff for nothing."
Sam looks at their lot and things 'wow, that really sucks, we should give them a little bit of our wealth to help them get a foothold to improving their lives.' and provides them food, water, medicine and aid, even sending some of his kids to help show them how to farm and build houses.
Marvin and his friends have other ideas however, now that they receive help from Sam they don't need to work ever again! And thus begins Marvin's life of living off handouts that everyone else provides for him.
Some of Marvin's friends however want to go to Sam's house and get things provided for them directly, but they don't want to wait in line like everyone trying to get there fairly.
Eventually, after cutting to the front of the line and getting in, they find that they're getting kicked back out because they didn't wait their turn! So instead of learning their lesson and trying to improve their lives, they continue to rely on handouts from Sam and continue to try to skip the line to get into the wonderful place Sam has created for his family, never learning to be good people or try to do anything for themselves ever.
