If metric is simpler, wouldn't America be the lazy ones to champion it?
Do europeans even know how to solve math problems that do not use their fractional standards of "1/10" or "1/100"? Try using some fractions that use "1/3" or "2/7" you filthy cheesemonkeys. I be you call those "imaginary numbers."
2/7 0.285, 1/3 is 0.333 How hard is it to into math for you cunt?
Sebastian Jenkins
The Imeprial system is easier to divide into pieces that make sense. A third of a foot is 4 inches. A third of a meter is 33.33333333 cm. 1/16 of a mile is 330 ft. 1/16 of a KM is 62.5m.
the Imperial system preserves whole units better than a system based on 10s.
Adrian Wright
that chinese arithmetic looks fucking hard. hard as my cock.
David Nelson
by 1/3 and 0.333 are not the same
Xavier Price
Standard seems made for industry. Its based on halves. Metric is better for science, however when building I always use standard.
Isaac Evans
12s vs 10s you literal nigger
you wouldn't understand. you're just blessed enough to live in this country.
Brody Ross
I honestly don't give a fuck and just use both.
Ok. Well maybe I give a little bit of a fuck because needing to own both SAE sized tools and Metric tools is a bit annoying.
Jacob Barnes
The only use of metric is to suppress eurocucks
David Turner
imperial is the best system, using base twelve is divisible by 2, 3, 4, and 6. base ten is divisible by 2 and 5.
Elijah White
1/3 still gives me braincancer.
Aaron Flores
Hong Kong, little dong, China town.
Michael Thomas
now the euros are trying for force decimal into gods own system of measurement. pic related.
Levi Morris
I had a lecturer once who said switching to decimal was the worst thing that happened to us from an educational and technological perspective. I can do both just about. Not memorised conversion equations, just know that an inch is 2.5cm, a pint (our one) is 568ml and an 1/8th of an ounce is 3.5g.
Metric is good for visualising sciencey stuff though. 1000ml = 1L. 1L water = 1KG = 1000cm3.
Camden Robinson
And another thing
There are 12 possible months 31 possible days 2017 possible years
THE EUROPEANS DO DATES WRONG BUT THEY'RE SO ARROGANT ABOUT IT.
I genuinely hate you all and am enjoying your upturned noses getting double pounded by ahmeds
Kayden Torres
yeah i don't get why europeans are so high and mighty with thier "everyone should use 10 seconds per 10 minutes per 10 hours per 10 days per 10 weeks per 10 months per decade per century" calendar.
Camden Moore
Don't forget the redundant "u" they add when writing. I refuse to reply to anyone who types honour or something equivalent to it.
Aiden Collins
Quality political thread.
Asher Davis
what size is your car engine?
Christian Thompson
And 3.3333333333333 doesn't? How do euros even build things when their units are only divisible by 2 and 5?
Ethan Evans
That's because nobody says "1/16 of a km" we say "60 m", using the next smallest and more precise unit. It's only you americans who have a weird fixation with fractions.
Cooper Sullivan
metric system is for fags lmao
Josiah Allen
using metric doesn't preclude the use of vulgar fractions
Bentley Young
Imperial system is better or day to day stuff. Like Fahrenheit is better for getting a goof gauge on the weather, pints and shit are good for cooking, feet/inches is good for measuring anything shorter than 50ft. But we don't get to the moon by feet and inches that would be retarded.
Sebastian Davis
and lets not forget that hillary won by 6 million votes which is 2721554 Kilovotes.
Josiah Reed
no, 0.33(whatever length u like) is perfectly clear. >how do euros even build things I don't know, but I'm not leaving my house, too scared the bridges might collapse.
Logan Morgan
As a machinist 1/10 of an inch is the best way to fuck with everyone.
Hudson Ortiz
americunts if you want us to math in your shitty inches and feet at least learn to denote the base properly!!
inb4 last time I checked the non retarded portion of humanity uses a base of 10 for rationality systematic validity
Thomas Davis
>How do euros even build things well it's not paper and cardboard
Joshua Morris
But I think it says something that the euros cannot explain why something "simpler", and dumb fat americans love simple, have not jumped on the base 10 train.
Lincoln Diaz
so suck it when I see inch or feet , that shit get converted to decimal inches and feet instantly
Eli Sanders
We put a fucking man on the moon with feet and inches you cunt.
Aiden Hill
>(4/5)^2
Mason Baker
that is just full retarded right there. it has to be a heathen foreigner that asks for that.
Elijah Johnson
Thing like construction or carpentry are naturally fractional crafts. Metricucks always run their mouth about how easy it is to multiply in metric but in the real world you actually have to divide far more often than multiply. Twelve is easily divisible into halves, quarters, thirds, eighths, etc. This is why we have twelve units on our rulers. Humans organically used base 12 for these things for a good reason. Metric acts like it makes everything "easier" but it really just replaced intuitive units with something completely detached from practicality for no good reason except to please some edgelord French atheists during the enlightenment
Lucas Anderson
What makes base 10 "rational"?
Isaiah Cruz
NASA has used the metric system forever
Ryan Reyes
>Humans organically used base 12 for these things for a good reason
12 is neither intuitive nor organic unless you have 12 fingers, perhaps
Jason Murphy
If you can count to ten, you know metric system.
Daniel Foster
the system already exists and has for as long as there was modern science
plus we all got 10 fingers
Sebastian Ross
problem with US anons is, you never know when they are being serious and when it's satire
Juan Reyes
But civilization began using sexagesimal; we use it for angles, time, etc. It makes more sense.
Benjamin Lewis
Having 10 fingers has nothing to do with what bases are most practical for various measurements.
Why did European civilization use base 12 and base 16 units for all of it's history until the French revolution? Did they just pull those numbers out of their ass?
Gabriel Torres
>9.843 inches ± 0.1969 inches
Eli Gonzalez
Metric system is just unadulterated autism that isn't effective for say to day use. Metric is undoubtedly superior for scientific use but for daily life it's unwieldy.
Isaiah Perry
yes 1/3 is 0.3...3 not 0.333 king autism happy now?
Asher Bailey
how many gallons/pints/quarts can you fit into a 10x10x10 inch box?
Mason Sanchez
>If metric is simpler, wouldn't America be the lazy ones to champion it?
No because you love inefficient systems and espouse them being superior and simpler even if they cost more and do less.
This is why you hate the "socialism" of single payer healthcare, but shrug off the fact that you already pay for the uninsured through astronomical insurance rates that are less efficient than any other western nation.
You keep the imperial system citing costs even though switching to the same system the rest of the world (minus Liberia) uses would cut costs and increase profit in all product categories both export and import.
It's the same absurdity that lets you motivate paying out the ass for the military, while also being against playing world police and thinking other people should pay their share. The only reason nobody else contributes is that you pay out the ass for your military. The only motivator to change is if you stop spending so fucking much. Cue the beginning of the cycle as US citizens complain.

12 and 60 are superior to 10. Prove me wrong. You have 60 seconds.
Ryan Myers
please explain to me what this thread has to do with politics you stupid fucking retard
Jordan Nelson
You have 10 metric seconds to explain to me why the fuck having units anchored to those points matter to anyone outside of the hard sciences?
>Protip you can't. Our superior customary units are designed for practically in day to day life
Cameron Gonzalez
>6 million
Oyyy veyyy
Jackson Sanders
>hard sciences >being able to say "this one liter bottle of water weighs one kilogram" is hard science
Aiden Taylor
And swedes wonder why their country is being razed to the ground as we speak.
Pro tip:
Immigrants + Socialism = system failure
Elijah Miller
The answer is in the number itself, our numeral system is base-ten, decimal or whatever the fuck you wanna call it which basically means we count to 10
Bentley Ross
There are roughly 360 days per year, 12 months per year, 30 days per month, 24 hours per day, 60 minutes per hour. All neatly divisible. That's our reality.
Tyler Turner
> >yes 1/3 is 0.3...3 not 0.333 king autism >happy now? No, the 3 at the end implies the decimal terminates
Samuel Sanders
I manage quite well in my daily tasks using metric
Zachary Cox
t. Average Grumpf supporter.
Brody Edwards
so what you're saying is that you're smarter because you use a less practic system ?
Kayden Hughes
60m != 1/16km. Prove me wrong.
Nicholas Mitchell
I can do fractions fine. I use imperial tools at my job, shit isn't hard faggot
Luke Jackson
Why not base 2? Or base 8? Or base 16? Base 10 can be considered arbitrary as well.
Jaxson Cox
just the opposite actually. I am saying americans in general, except for the leftist academics, are morons and the simpler system should have been a no brainer to adopt.
Juan Rogers
...
Daniel Taylor
Ahh yes. It seems I forgot about all those times I was concerned about how many pounds of milk I was buying. Oa
Just because your units convert easily doesn't actually mean they are more useful outside of times when you actually need to do those sorts of conversions (science). We don't actually care that our units for cooking don't easily convert to our units for building or our units for weighing. Because that doesn't actually matter. What does matter is that each system of measurement is designed well for the tasks it's meant to measure. Metric is a pointless one size fits all system that rarely makes sense to use outside of the sciences.
Connor Ramirez
... Excuse sir american dude are you some special kind of stupid?
You use a numeric system on the base of 10 to count and write numbers yet refuse to calculate in it because your measurements are in a completely other random numerical systems
WTF?
Lincoln Foster
You write numbers in the decimal system yet want to calculte in 12th and 16th ....
Makes sense!..... NOT
Asher Ward
what about the thumb
Jordan Diaz
You count with the thumb.
Gavin Allen
i have never considered suicide with more seriousness than i did while looking at this thread
Jason Cooper
That goes into the ass
Jack Robinson
and what the fuck is a foot supposed to measure? and a yard? what about a mile?
if i need to take a distance in km and turn it into a distance in meters, that's simple. 1000 meters = a kilometer, so just take the distance in km and multiply it by 1000 and you have your distance in meters. a 7 year old can do that.
but what if i need to convert from miles to yards? 1760 yards in a mile? what the fuck is that bullshit? am i supposed to whip out the calculator every time i want to eyeball a distance?
Isaac Jenkins
Are americans that dense that they can't figure out how to take 1/3 of a cm? or whatever other number
Jack Hill
>There are roughly 360 days per year lol
Wyatt Gray
>2721554 Kilovotes I read that as kilovolts, reminded me of "The Electric" Pence
How about 3 liters of mecury? How about 12 kl of nos with 15 pa of pressure? Can you tell me the mass of the elelctrons of 2 amps @ 1500 volts applied for 3 seconds?
Samuel Gutierrez
>mass of elections Negligible
Elijah Ortiz
It is also for easy accuracy. I use metric in everything but dryboarding. As that doesnt need a huge amount of accuracy outside of the matchstick sized gap I like between all boards and walls.
Joseph Lewis
The idea for metric was on the right track, but they could have given us the best of both worlds. When the French made metric they should have changed our counting system to base 12 rather than change our measuring system to base 10
Dominic Harris
you count fingers from top to bottom with your thumb.
Ryan Torres
make sure to use the proper imperial fractional guage rope if you decide to hand yourself.
no thanks are necessary, sad spud bro.
Nathan Robinson
>How about 3 liters of mecury? >How about 12 kl of nos with 15 pa of pressure? >Can you tell me the mass of the elelctrons of 2 amps @ 1500 volts applied for 3 seconds? no, because it's 6 AM. can you tell me the exact distance in yards represented by a signal taking 1.821 seconds to travel through the atmosphere?
Noah Anderson
I don;t why they weren't this angry when hillary lost to obama in 08 despite winning the popular vote.
Parker Taylor
>not using binary counting on hands
Oliver Young
>average healthcare costs Average Healthcare is paid for by rich and by poor. AKA. you get what you paid for. The number is inflated because the rich get high quality, high cost healthcare, and we have a metric shit ton of wealthy in the United States. Going by this logic, the middle class probably pay for good quality healthcare at lower prices than Europoors.
David Smith
>Our superior customary units are designed for practically in day to day life THIS Why do Yurosnorks never understand this? I'd much rather have feet, inches and Fahrenheit for everyday use. You wanna do carpentry and chemistry? Go ahead and use metric and Celsius, otherwise fuck off. And don't even get me started on Brits complaining about "inefficiency" while they proudly defend their medieval grade spelling.
Samuel White
Obviously not beecause you didn't give a velocity
Benjamin Russell
I couldn't tell you, moron, because I don't know the velocity of the signal.
Anthony Clark
for all intensive purposes they are the same
Xavier Kelly
>velocity of the signal fucking american education
Adrian Morales
>common core burger education fractions are the same all over the world.
and what the fuck is a meter supposed to measure? and a centimeter? what about a kilometer?
if i need to take a distance in miles and turn it into a distance in feet, that's simple. 5280 feet = a mile, so just take the distance in miles and multiply it by 5280 and you have your distance in feet. a 7 year old can do that.
but what if i need to convert from lightyears to lightseconds? 299,792,458 meters per second times 31,556,926 seconds? what the fuck is that bullshit? am i supposed to whip out the calculator every time i want to "eyeball" some random bullshit like the distance from the sun to earth
Jonathan Rodriguez
Fahrenheit is relative to brine, which is approximately our own bodies, while Celsius is relative to water. 0C is pretty cold, but bearable. 0F, and you are fucked. You will never experience 100C, and 100F is the point where you start getting damage. Fahrenheit is more intuitive to determine human comfort at a certain temperature
David Jackson
>hurr what is light >durr what is sound >uhhh what is electromagnetic spectrum There are different ways to send a signal, idiot.
Isaiah Green
Imperial is simpler for simple every day use (inch=knuckle, foot=shoe, yard=pace, etc). Metric is better for complex use (cubic volume, pressure, etc).
Alexander Hall
12 inches to a foot, 12 segments of the fingers. That's not confusing. Good for building, cooking, telling time, etc. All the practical things people do.
