What's the deal with so many Walmarts opening and then closing?

What's the deal with so many Walmarts opening and then closing?

They were pursuing a physical locational growth strategy, but scrapped it to pursue an ecommerce one.

Walmarts sometimes open in areas that they know are going to do poorly at first at hopes of killing local businesses and other chain stores over time.

If they can't kill them and take over they close. They need to end up breaking even at least on a store.

Also, if the area becomes crime ridden or goes downhill they leave.

FEMA camps.

Health hazards done by the Americans

this in LA? i read they closed a few because of the 15/hr min. wage bs

niggers

They steal the entire contents of the store and it has to close?

retail is a zombie, kept alive purely because it's one of the most visible forms of menial 'anyone can do this, you have no excuse not to' employment. it isn't outright welfare, they do make some profit, but it hasn't actually been enough on its own for anyone involved to be passing up other opportunities basically since the big retail boom (which started in the 70s) definitively ended in the early/mid-90s.

they've been opening stores which can't really support themselves for decades. what's changing is attitudes towards 'maximum employment', at every level. the big turn against it is of course starting in the private sector.

>SHART IN MART

This

I'm gonna bet that in a few years time, the only retail stores to still exist in a relatively profitable state are specialist stores offering services + expertise in addition to relevant products, (Best Buy is a good example.) and grocery stores, due to the logistics of grocery delivery, at least outside of major metro areas.

>Walmart that didn't sell cold/frozen food by me closed in 2007
>Aldi, Hobby lobby, and a farmers market move in across the street recently
>Now the walmart is open again selling food too.
Makes you think

Yes

Fema Camps. how do you not know...

Pretty much
They also harass employees, make messes, and just generally cause trouble.

They're just hell to deal with and there comes a point when the store starts losing too much profit so they pull out. But, Wal-Mart has all the money they need in the world so if they're not satisfied with the location they'll just move the store a few blocks down to the white part of town.

WAL-MART --> MARTIAL LAW

The more you know. FEMA

Southern state here you would think that until you've actually been to a Walmart at 12 AM on a weekday during the middle of spring and the parking lot that can accommodate 120-140 vehicles is half packed

Shit opens and closes all the time, bud. I wouldn't worry about it. Like your mom's legs, ya know?

Best buy has been on life support for a decade.

Circuit City kicking the bucket should have been a wake up call for Best Buy

This.

My city has 2 super-walmarts, and both are at the outskirts of town.

Also what will probably happen in the next 10 years is Walmart will convert their stores to warehouses with small front areas. All shopping will be done online and have local pickup/Uber self driving delivery.

walmart in certain states do this to prevent unions from being formed

its probably the only thing that has kept them alive, because they will shut down for "emergency rennovation"

that sounds horrifying and dystopian

cia converts them to black-sites. prove me wrong.

Gee who's going to truck in thousands of pounds of reinforced cages, walls , prefab , electronics , and staff amenities when most highways will be jammed or blocked. I guess you could clear it by hiring all tow truck drivers and threaten them with arrest if they don't , but who will set up and dedicate the thousands of hours it will take to set them up , oh I guess we could threaten the workers too, now we need workers who are wiling to arrest other workers I guess we could threaten them too.

It's easier you retard to expand at supermax or prisons than retrofit stores especially when there's no enthusiasm in the common lay person to promote martial law. You fucking idiot.

My best buy closed 6 months ago.

democrats attacking using the stealing of politics

I think democrats should be charged for fucking busines up so much

It's the only way they will be able to survive. The only thing they will have an advantage they have over Amazon is they have a lot of real estate in almost every American town. They will cut almost all wage overhead by turning them into warehouses. They will still have a guy in the car to deliver but self driving will cut insurance and fuel costs.

*Have an advantage over Amazon.

walmart, amaZOG, etc. all need to die

so do google and uber, silicon valey needs to burn

soros have pulled out his funds from wal-mart, marty's not going to be around for long. Online hopping is taking over.

Usually because of margins just a few percent does a store in.

It the future we chose. When we are in our 40's and that shit is the norm we will sound like our parents complaining about the internet and Pokemon. I can only see manual labor/specialist shit being a steady job in 20 years. Retail/transportation jobs will be dead and manual labor wages will plummet because of the lack of jobs and a large pool of laborers.
