Denomination isn't as important as many think, here in America we have many non-denominational churches that are Protestant/Evangelical in practice.
Personally I am a Baptist, but Methodists can be similar, depends on your location. You don't have to belong to a particular denomination, just stick to Protestant denominations for a real take on Christianity.

In the end, faith in God, His law, and Jesus are what being a Christian is. If you can aquire a Bible (KJV, ideally) and start reading along with regular prayer to God, you will be doing just fine.
