I understand soldiers from other ages to enroll in the army, but I do not get the point to join an actual army which its main purpose is to look for oil in the nowhere.
1- What encourages current western soldiers to join the army?
2- Are vets trated right in your cunt?
3- Do you think you should ''show some respect'' to them? Why?

For some it is tradition, for others it is a way of life, then some have little options but to shoot at other people for a living.

US Army officer here (captain). The Army has paid for a bachelors degree and two masters degrees (one from Georgetown where I was given the 1.5 years off to attend but still paid) and provides a very nice check for doing decent staff work. I'm very happy with how it's turned out these past nine years but understand how enlisted guys would hate it.

Has ever someone gave you something ( not only material things like discount , but just a few nice words just because you are a US soldier )? I'd feel bad for them.

>I do not get the point to join an actual army which its main purpose is to look for oil in the nowhere
If it's a mercenary type of army, then why not. Some people haven't stabilized their private lives and seek for distraction or want to put their skills to test etc.

I'd say that unrestrained, imperial capitalism in combination with bureaucratization of the state has created a war machine that has led to WW1 and thus to the treatment of your own people as some cattle which serves only to protect your commercial interests. This is why so many Europeans have turned against their own monarchies and why socialists became so popular, because they have unfortunately properly diagnosied how pathological contemporary states have become

Think of Iraq war - of course enrolling in the army was voluntary, but nevertheless the state should still respect its soldiers and not risk their lives because of some shady philosophical concepts like "the export of democracy"

I've goon to lunch off post a few times and a few times people would refuse to let me pay for my meal. Shit is fucking infuriating. I'm infantry but no deployments. There is no fucking reason to give me free shit.

People join military now for exact same reasons they have always joined military 1) military provides best chance for life advancement if poor or with limited opportunities and 2) join in response to propaganda calling for action after country has been attacked or threatened

You don't think the Romans, Crusaders etc joined the military because they were really keen on marching?

Well other than the mandatory 1 year service we dont really have any vets and those we have are from the turk cypr war but nothing is done for them so no we dont have any special treatment for vets.
So i got a question. Can i as a foreign citizen join the US army ?

>1- What encourages current western soldiers to join the army?
job security, no stress, dont have to produce results

>2- Are vets trated right in your cunt?
we dont have vets since the austrian army never fights

>3- Do you think you should ''show some respect'' to them? Why?
no, because they do shit.

1.) It can pay for college and is in the family.

2.) Hell yes they are

3.) Absolutly. Thy put their lives in danger for our safety. Besides, they chose to do it. They were not drafted.

I am a U.S. Army veteran and I joined for the benefits. I saved $60,000 in 6 years and was paid to go to university and paid nothing in tuition. People look down on me as being stupid, but they are still paying off their student loans. I loved my time traveling the world in uniform fucking foreign women and making great friends.

Hahaha

My dad has PTSD and TBI from Afghanistan and no one gives him free shit.

You can if you are a permanent resident. Many friends I had in the army were not citizens.

That's why Plus Ultra means there isnt such a thing as nowhere.

Basically my plan for life, except I want to also become a war journalist too

The army will take care of you. Use it for what you can.

you got me there

Not so sure about the Army Guard though. Felt like my dad got fucked over by them on a few things. But they are different than big army.

Who did you serve with?

I was regular army for 6 years. My MOS was Chemical Operations. I mostly had desk jobs. I tried to get into the Air force, but they rejected me. Those guys have it the best.

The army fucks everybody over in one way or another, but you have to use them and get everything you can from them.

>what is the difference between a jet engine and a jet pilot?

>a jet engine stops whining after the plane is shut down.

That's a good one. I tried to become a helicopter pilot after I was in, but was rejected from that too.

Nice pic bro - Battle of Rocroi.
Francisco de Melo tercios leader was portuguese.
