out of a 2" barrel, the 357 magnum cartridge pushes the same kinetic energy as a 9MM Luger round. so essentially, you have a big, loud, chunky, heavy 6-shot 9mm pistol.
3" is the bare minimum for effective velocity from a 357, 4" is preferable. the round is fucking subsonic up to a 3" barrel, at which point it starts to become supersonic.
