we never have and we don't now, and it looks like its not going to happen any time soon.
it is explicitly stated in the canadian constitution that we don oy have the right to freedom of speech but have the right to not be offended based on certain characteristics, namely race and gender.
all this shit with the bills is secondary and merely symptomatic of our fundamentally broken constitution.

Everyone who gives a shit about this: stop what you're doing and email your MP right now about this. The vast majority of citizens do not ever bother to contact their MP, so every bit of correspondence that is actually sent counts for a lot.
