America's system doesn't make sense

The electoral college doesn't make sense. It allows for a person with more votes to lose. More votes should equal winning, right? Please fix this broken system.

States vote, not just people.
It's United S T A T E S

Sage and Report.

You shills need to make better and less obvious threads.

America isn't a democracy.
It's a constitutional republic.

Learn how your own system works cunt

It indeed doesnt makes sense. I have no idea why rural voters are more valuable than ones from sites.

voters don't elect the president. the states do. the fact that voters cast votes for presidents is ancillary to how the decision is ultimately made.

voters elect their senators and congressional representatives

Everyone knows how us elections work, it just is ridiculous.

>psephology

your previous comment indicates that you actually dont at all.

Helps prevent mob rule, without it california and new york could almost single handedly control every election.

so yeah, land=voting power is a shitty concept, but humans are pack animals, and it doesnt take long for a shitty idea to take control in a population center.

you really think the early states would have united if they were controlled by the most populous states?

the more worrying thing about this is:
(65788583 + 62955363)/324834000 =~ 0.3963377

yeah, we have way too many people that don't pay taxes but DO vote.

should be more like 25%

>Oh no, California and New York don't decided the fate of every election on their own...

Oh that sucks

LEarn about the difference between a republic and a democracy.

We are a constitutional republic. Not a democracy. Very important.

>Everyone knows how us elections work, it just is ridiculous.
Why, why is this ridiculous?
This makes it so that the smaller states also have a voice.

Hello hillary
But thats the reason you won over Sanders

It's a Democratic Republic.

nah, she had the majority by over 3 million, which is friggin enormous for a primary.

Not sure if trusted source or not but
>conservapedia.com/Constitutional_Republic

this sort of unintelligent garbage thinking is why your country continues to be a shit place to live.

Conservapedia is a fucking joke.

I'm a constitutional libertarian and even I think it is a goddamn joke.

...

get a job.

It is a democracy, just not a direct democracy.

>conservapedia
We still decide majority vote over many issues, mostly local; it's most efficient to call us a Democratic Republic because as the semantics imply we are democratically held coherent by a Republic core. For fuck's sake every election is Republicans vs. Democrats, why would you exclude the democratic aspect in our form of government when both of them combined created the constitution itself.

If the president would be elected by the popular vote then one does only have to have california and new york on his side.

stupid fuck

im a data scientiest, you get a job. oh wait your economy is so bad you proabably cant. go blow a jew scum

FUCK TRUMP AND FUCK WHITE PEOPLE

it makes sense if you think of the usa as a union of states instead of a country

youtube.com/watch?v=9HA1i6NqZJ4

You know there are videos spoon feeding you the answer right

If the electoral system were removed california and new york would elect every president and this country would've been turned into ashes decades ago.

those two aren't mutually exclusive

That's what I thought by the look of it.

Alright cheers

Its a republic not a democracy. Its based on minority rule. Completely opposite. This is further proof that Americans are one of the most retarded countries in the world

Ok op ill get on fixing that right away thanks for the notice

it doesn't make sense to have self governing states and override their authority by letting a handful of states dominate the election of the president

degree and timestamp.

our economy is actually pretty darn strong, especially lately.

no one gave a shit about the electoral college until it got trump in office apparently

I thought the party names were just names.

That's because it always worked for them.

the second it doesn't SYSTEM SUCKS FLAWED REVOTE OR RIOT

If you remove California, Trump would of won the popular vote.

This is why we have an Electoral College, so one populous state can't determine the results of an election.

THE SYSTEM WORKS

It's a federal presidential constitutional republic actually. There is literally no democracy in the US and never was supposed to be. If you knew literally anything about what the First and Second Continental Congress debated over you'd know they were highly against a democracy. It wasn't even a considered option.

you idiot. most of the america people shouldn't vote because they are idiots. women think with feelings and minorities think with feelings. you don't want politics and feelings to get mixed up. you need a clear head and a neutral conscious. you need to look at where the world is around you and decide who will make things great. trump is obviously that man. this dude is flexing nuts I haven't seen in a long time. America is a power house and it needs to show it. trump is doing us a favor here. start loving him

not even close to accurate, infact even today not even the election people felt most burned about even today.

Al Gore not only won the popular vote but likely won the general election in the 2000 election.

so we not only elected a retard, whose corruption is actually a redeeming quality. al gore went fucking insane and has been doing everything in his power to make our lives fucking miserable by bitching about pollution ever since for revenge.

No they aren't but if you knew anything about what types of governments were originally discussed as possible systems for the US before it was founded you'd know a democracy was something they feared precisely because they did NOT want a majority to control everything. They wanted the minority to have a voice regardless. They knew the minority would be the rural areas of the country and that they have entirely different thoughts and needs compared to those that lived in the cities because their lives were completely different. This is why they refused to make the US a democracy.

Al Gore bitched about pollution way back in the 70's. The 2000 election had literally nothing to do with it. He was actually the one who started the first congressional hearings on climate change way back in 1976.
theguardian.com/environment/2007/oct/12/climatechange1

bitching about the environment was legitimate until we started losing the economic race with china.

back then we probably could have changed things, now it's just make it here, or make it there.

>just not a direct democracy
Do you even know what the fuck you're talking about?

>This makes it so that the smaller states also have a voice.
Except the fact that it doesn't work at all, right?

Except it did? Otherwise california and new york alone would be the sole factor in determining a president

>Otherwise california and new york alone would be the sole factor in determining a president
Are you retarded or do you not know the population statistics of your own country.

>This is why they refused to make the US a democracy
>literally outlined in the constitution how people are to be elected

Humans>Americans

because cities are hiveminds

Yeah, nah, you're wrong, it makes sense.

It's a defence against Gerrymandering, which clearly seems to be the only thing Left.

why do you bitch about this now and not the 200+ years this system has been in place you retarded ass mongrel rat-eating cunt

its only a problem now because hating Trump is fashionavle, shills kill yourselves like your disappointed fathers collectively did.

>Do it solely on popular vote
>Only travel to/pander to cities where you can get maximum voter volume

>Electoral college
>You have to give a shit about all kinds of states and their issues

Gee, I wonder which sounds better?

the USA being a republic has nothing to do with the method used to elect the head of state you fucking idiots.

being a republic means that there is an elected government with a separation of powers

actually, all you need to do in the current system is spend money in swing states.

this, so New York and their stock exchange and California with Silicon Valley get all the political focus, and no focus on the rustbelt or midwest where agriculture products (read:FOOD) and manufacturing (Cars, appliances) things that actually matter for a level of comfort are underappreciated and ignored.

ignored in what ways? what policy preferences of theirs would be set aside that are actually material to the valuable services they provide in your post?

trolololololololololol

Stop spouting this retarded meme, republics are inherently democratic forms of government.

The US is a representative democracy, like most other democracies on Earth.

Obama got less voters than Hillary in 08 nomination too. Deal with it

you lost op deal wit it.

...

You do realize NY and California's population combined is only 7 million short of the amount of people who voted for Hillary.

Those 2 states would potentially almost always would determine the outcome of the election if it was completley on popular vote not the states votes.

>You do realize NY and California's population combined is only 7 million short of the amount of people who voted for Hillary.
Is that total population or people eligible to vote?

Thats just on population alone even with a subtraction of people who can't vote they still have a massive say in the popular vote outsome.

A fun fact from October 2017 California has more registered voters than the population of 46 states in the US.

latimes.com/politics/essential/la-pol-sac-essential-politics-updates-there-are-now-more-registered-voters-in-1475694802-htmlstory.html

Do you honestly fucking think that Hillary winning would have changed anything? Look at history you fucking dip shit, name me a good candidate that wasn't controlled by someone rich at the top and wasn't assassinated. Andrew Jackson was pretty good, but look at the year when he was president and realize that there is nothing that can save you.

the US Census shows CA has about 27 million and NY has about 16 million voting age people.

correction, CA has about 30 million

It's a fact that when people group close together they develop similar cultures traditions and viewpoints. (I.e. Washington (please nuke us) Oregon and cali are extremely liberal expecially in heavy population centers) if population density was equal across the USA majority vote would work. But that will never happen. So Cali and NY can sniff their smug farts all they want but you don't own me.
T. Depressed Washington state conservative

I'm patiently waiting for the white male tax. Please give me a reason to revolt

That's counting total population, not voting population. Also that's also assuming 100% of California and New York votes Democrat, which is untrue.

Also, the majority of states vote Republican, especially large ones like Texas (2nd largest) and Florida (3rd largest).

And your argument is that single states shouldn't decide election, but isn't that what already happens? Swing states like Ohio already get extraordinary leverage compared to other states by virtue of their political makeup, even though they aren't representing the majority of Americans.

Either way, it's stupid to divide the presidential election up by states. The President is a federal position whose decisions affect the American people, regardless of which state they live in. Given that it's a position that affects all American people, it's a position that should be voted by the people, not by the states.

Cali+ ny make up roughly 17% of the voting population. Why should a 2% of our union (USA is a union of states. But not quite as cucked as the eu.) get a 5th of the decision on our leader.

>protip jamming as many people into your state doesn't make you more important than other states

tits or gtfo

Don't you have some spiders to wrangle?

...

It is a democratic government

>The electoral college doesn't make sense
I think this election is proof as to why it's a great system.
If you believe the blue should rule all over this fucking red you are an idiot and a dangerous one.

Illegal votes. Once Republicans probed one county, just ONE COUNTY and found thousands of illegal votes by illegals, the Democrats dropped the narrative and demand for a recount.

Besides, the left proved that they cannot manage a fucking country let alone their own IT or even follow the damned law while fucking stealing. I hope the Democrats lose the ability to be counted as a majority party here soon, which it seems like may happen, meaning it'll ONLY be Republicans in each election until enough voters support a single opposing party.
