Because they secretly want Monarchy back.

Conservatism is not the same as Republicanism. And Neoconservatism is not the same as Conservatism.

All anons need to research, learn, and know the difference and the evolution of politics in this country. You really need to know the difference

No, really. I'm serious. This isn't some mythical thing.

Then define conservatism and give some example of actual conservatives.

Government always grows, it's a fact of the world, not just corrupted/co-opted conservatives.

learn more.

Are you guys really this dense or are you trolling?

The GOP and the Republican party operated on some pretty different platforms from Lincoln into the 60's.

William F. Buckley basically hijacked the Republican party into his Conservative movement on the back of his magazine he founded back in 1955, National Review. Reagan's election was the crowning achievement of Buckley and his conservative movement.

In the meantime, the Neoconservatives, which were ex-Democrats, fed up with the ever increasing progressive Democrat social policies in the 60's switched sides and began to infiltrate the new conservative movement in the Republican party. After Reagan was done, and during Clinton's years is when they made their move and, essentially, usurped power of the party due to the backlash against Clinton.

Like, do you guys really not know this?

Then why did Reagan himself expand government?

Ok you're a troll.

I'll add more for you to look into, because you're clearly clueless about real politics.

In the period between WW1 and WW2, one of the seminal figures in the foundation of Republicanism in America was Colonel Robert McCormick, owner and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. That paper used to be staunchly Republican. Believe it or not, he and others were vehemently against the U.S. entering the war and eventually lead a group of nearly 1 million people called "America First."

In fact, the founders of the America First idea were 4 students at Yale. One was the son of the founder of Quaker Oats, the other was future President Gerald Ford, who was there for a graduate degree, and another who went on to become a Supreme Court justice.

They were isolationists.

Where did I say I liked Reagan? Or conservatism?

Ok you're a leaf.

Because they're assholes

cant spell conservashit without con
seriously, has anyone met an honest one?

And I'll further add more to this. We haven't had a true Republican run for office in this country since Goldwater. And you know what they did to him? Conservatives and Democrats alike?

They called him crazy. Like, legitimately crazy. They brought mental health professors in and had them go on tv and radio and newspapers and tell America they diagnosed him as crazy.

This led to what's now known as the Goldwater Rule.

Buckley and the Conservatives as well as the Democrats were all part of it.

yeah it's almost as if the country is run by the legislature and it's financial backers instead of the guy they put in front of the cameras

Conservative and liberals are puppets

The right wing in this country is pathetic and too afraid to really undo any liberalism. I honestly resent conservatives for almost completely failing to stop the creep of liberalism in our society. The only thing they've been really successful on is gun control, but they more or less fail everywhere else. Liberal immigration policy with a diversity quota? Check. Affirmative action? Check. No-fault divorce which is literally killing male-female relationships? Check.

It's too late now, but they really should have undone all of that shit in the 80s when they still had the chance.

The only real conservatives left call themselves libertarian or anarchist.

And I'll add further. We haven't had a true Democrat run for office in this country since Kennedy. He's another guy we can go into a whole spiel on.

Basically, everything has been different in this country since November 22, 1963. I can't stand Stephen King, but he's right that something "changed" in this country. Some argue that's when we entered the alternate timeline. They took out Kennedy and then they took out Goldwater, effectively killing the traditional Democrat and Republican parties this country built itself on.

I'm dead serious about this, and you all need to learn about it. There are yet others who think we're never going to be able to pull ourselves out of this until the boomer generation, the ones most affected by Kennedy's assassination, end up in the grave. Even then, it's going to be tough because we have all these other people who've grown up with this bastardized version of Democrats and Republicans who believe and think these terms mean things like Conservatism/Neoconservatism and Neoliberalism/Socialism. They don't.

Let me tell you one last thing. Harry Truman founded the CIA. Like most things, he founded it with good intentions. Do you know what he said about it? To his biographer on his death bed, basically? I'm paraphrasing because I don't know the exact quote, "If I knew what it would become, I never, ever would have done it. It's the biggest regret of my life."

Remember, that's the man who made the decision to drop the bombs on Japan.

Because nobody really gives a fuck how big government is, they just want it to do the things they want and not the things they don't.
