Also while it was colonialism it was more of a occupational force than one with the clear intent of colonizing the area, it was mostly a single fort every couples hundred miles manned by a hundred men at best, with the sole intent of acting as a de facto representative of their country of origin, they only served to legitimize their influence over the area. Just like how the french did with Nouvelle-France that stretched from Quebec all the way to Louisiana.

We already had medical equipment that can accurately measure temperature and breathing rates long before he came along. The problem Africa has is that most hospitals and clinics are under equipped. Not to mention that Africa has a major doctor shortage, and often gets doctors that wouldn't be good enough in a developed nation.
