It's an entry level English composition course. I have to form an "academic argument about a controversial issue". That's basically the only direction I'm given. There's a DACA illegal in my class who can't write for shit (I've peer-reviewed her paper about wanting to stay in America and become a teacher here), and more or less is filled with more non-european immigrants than native born white people. The professor's political leanings are a mystery, but she's an English professor and a woman so she probably has strong left-wing views.
