The police department are on the brink of civil war with the top brass/local government. The mayor has had his boot on the throat of the department for some time, demanding we not lay a single gloved finger on the Antifas scum.
We cops are sick and tired of this bullshit, being unable to help innocents getting the shit kicked out of them by these domestic terrorist scum. We cops have outright been threatened by the top brass (with the asshole mayor right beside of him, to make sure the threats are carried out verbatim), that ANY cop who lays a single hand on an Antifas, or tries to save a Trump/alt righter/innocent bystander, would be fired and blacklisted from ever working in law enforcement again.

We have also been told, by the mayor, that all of the local media are "on the mayor's side" and would snitch on anyone who tried to out the mayor's agenda to let Antifas beat and brutalize innocent people, who's only crime is having a point of view the Antifas disagree with. Or were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The mayor has also stated he has "friends" in the national media as well, who will likewise out any whistleblower.
THAT is why no cop has come forward on or off the record with what is going on in Berkley. We are outright living in fear from reprisals from the social justice fascist regime currently controlling the local city government. As well as our own top officials in the department: any cop who is caught voicing internal concerns has been subject to illegal reprisals (shitty shifts, sick/vacation days suddenly being revoked, etc) along with threats that any cop who doesn't narc on another, being punished too.
It's full on insane, to the point that a lot of us had to do our damn best not to break forth in cheers for the Trump folk who smashed the Antifas Saturday, due to the shit we've been made to let those bastards skate on.

The OP may be LARPing, it's impossible to really know, but the situation he presents is probably accurate.
The mayor is probably is telling the police to stand down that way he feels like he's standing with liberals.
Fighting back against the liberals at this latest event had the most fantastic effect of making liberals on social media start asking why the police weren't doing anything. Prior to this they were cheering on all the violence or just ignoring it, so this fighting back looks to be the best way for people to go now if anything is to change.
The police aren't going to do anything since most people just want to get by day to day rather than risk disrupting their entire lives just to make some stand.
Things will only change when the public perception of the antifas and liberals is changed. Like in the pic here, there are some liberals/centrists wanting to pretend that because people were ready to defend themselves, that this meant they were instigating the conflict. For the perception to change, we need to have more events that occur accompanied by those willing to defend it since the police obviously won't. That way liberals will be forced to ask why the conflicts are starting and have to turn this false centrist position of "you're bringing it on yourselves" on its head, by forcing them to address why it is that liberals are constantly attacking people.

If you're really concerned about being found out there are programs like TOR which can switch your IP address fingerprint, temporary e-mail addresses to leave no trace of who submitted what, and even text-messaging apps that employ end-to-end encryption. And if you're super paranoid, you can use dedicated proxy VPNs and ghost your NIC card with programs like SMACS. If you're worried about people looking at your Hard Disk, then programs like TrueCrypt work too.
My point is that there are ways to render yourself virtually untraceable on the internet, even from other LEOs. It's just that you have to know what you're doing.
