This is how it works. They pay themselves a huge salary for doing fuck all. At the same time they can virtue signal becasue they are non-profit. Because profit = evil white men.
So a donation of $1000 comes in for example, for a non-profit that helps some shit like the homeless or victims or fucking something.
Okay so what happens is $900 of this is used to pay the salary of some bitch who thinks nothing of blowing it on the latest iphone or whatever trivial shit, and of the remaining $100 $99 is spent on advertising what a great job the non-profit is doing, and then the last $1 is parceled out among 10,000 homeless or whatever.
Of course these fucks will complain about how hard they work and will never once, never once ,will they spend a single cent of their own money on helping the people they are supposed to be helping. Oh fuck no.

There's only 3 requirements iirc to be considered a non-profit here. You have to donate 25% of your profits, have a board of directors, and I don't remember the other. Other than that nothing.
I've dealt with a lot of non profits in my day. It is always government-tier or even worse in it's inefficiency and usually staffed with people driving 80k company cars, dressed sharp, posh offices, etc., all at the same time crying poverty "cuz I'm nonprofit" and get virtue points with everybody because "oh nonprofit make no money and help poor wow so brave".
So of course liberals love it, it's being a deceitful crook while maintaining a fake image to others while putting in very little effort. This is the definition of a liberal.

Not defending non-profits, but it's a slower transformation than that. First, people start their non-profit organization trying to "just get by". But eventually they'll realize that they're doing a lot of work for just skimming it, and eventually rationalize taking a bigger piece of the pie for themselves. So they either come clean with themselves and divide the donations reasonably with how people should be paid, becoming glorified marketers, or they find new and exciting ways to embezzle the money while still being able to count it as part of the charitable process.
It's worse, really. They start out trying to do the right thing, and then find out the "right thing" is fiscally impossible. Slowly they become corrupted by their pride, rationalizing more deceitful tactics to relieve people of their money in order to fuel their virtuous cause which could not exist in a natural market. The result is a bloated administrative bloc using guilt-trip ads convincing people that the noble savage is reality.
Non-profits are simply organizations that have no return on capital. The average non-profit salary is $31,000/yr.
To take the confusion out of non-profits, remember that no one works for nothing- and while the company (as a whole) does not profit, the workers profit (wages) just as if they worked at a for-profit.
