meditation.

how often? and for how long? (the sessions i mean)

>how often?

Every day, sometimes multiple times.

>how long?

Ranging from 15 minutes to over an hour.

i feel you man.

I fuck boipucci

Composing music, gardening, walking the whippet. Renting a cabin or going on a road trip every six months.

I've been following politics since the age of 11, for some reason I just got intrigued by American politics then, I'm 22 now. I can't take a break from it, I last like a day at max.

I do whatever, play guitar, play vidya, watch anime occasionally, etc.

THe best thing I've found is to simply find something that occupies your focus enough to forget about all else, finding a project (art, building shit, learning a craft, language, whatever).

what kind of music you compose?

I am not stressed out by politics because I know, deep down, that everything we do amounts to nothing. There are no long-term consequences of anything. We all just die and disintegrate. So whatever happens in the interim is extra, so you might as well enjoy it.

yes, but all the arguments, all the conflict, and the haunting feeling that everything is going to shit creeps into me. don't you feel the same way?

You can't rule out the now and near future. I for one want my young cousins, my friends' children and perhaps, some day, my own children to live better than I have when I'm gone and until then.

Arty rock music. I've been working more and more on the "composer" part but haven't yet released a lengthy instrumental piece. e.g. I'm working on a piano and brass-centered fanfare to celebrate the founding of the town of Carlton Landing, Oklahoma.

Set up fish tanks

nice! hope you do well! we could use more artists!

recognize, first of all, that all the arguments come from a position of individual selfishness. No one expresses an opinion that doesn't in some way help them.

Furthermore, everything has gone to shit in the past. It will go to shit in the future. And somehow, humanity's persistence at living has survived through it all. We, as humans, are experts at dealing with shitty situations and rationalizing it.

Sure, but say you work super hard to make a better society for the next generation, but you fail. What are the consequences? Well, the next generation gets to die and get buried in the ground, but that was going to happen anyway, so who gives a shit? Was is "better" anyway, since death and non-existence can't be avoided?

well, i care about whats happening around me. and everything is getting more and more tense, can't you feel it?
it is part of the human nature to feel stressed after all that and the healthy course of action is to release it, somehow. how do you do it?

Also, OP --- take three months -- every time you want to check the news, read a book about history or politics, instead. Install a blocker and quit Facebook so you don't get flooded with unwanted news stories. You'll be left with a much better sense of perspective, and you'll also be left with an education, instead of impotent agitation.

Do you not ride rollercoasters because they end up in the same place and don't let you stay on for all eternity? This is the logic you are using. To quote Allan Watts: "Dance whilst the music is still playing".

i smoke weed and continue to work on my fish tank. people say weed is degenerate but it really isnt. it is however if you allow it to become a daily thing that interferes with a career and doing interesting things. it truly is a medicine to get away from pills of all kinds. and if you are weightlifitng it allows you to eat more and gain weight

stop reading & watching msm "news" and you won't have this problem

it is a lifesaver isn't it! it provides you with the spiritual depth at the times you can't provide it yourself.

It fucks too much with my memory and makes me a bit loopy. But nah, weed used responsibly is no worse than drinking alcohol responsibly.

do you know more about american or swedish politics?

I drink, smoke cigarettes and weed.

I know i'm degenerate, fuck off.

welcome to the club, lad.

American by quite a bit, but I'm still quite knowledgeable in both Swedish and British politics.

...

I don't take politics personally, ever. Therefore, It's not really stressful, it's more like watching a sports game to me. One side wins, the other loses, and I get to watch the comments.

I have no idea why weed gets the degenerate label. Its much less destructive than alcohol.

yeah, it is a game. politicians get to play, we have to live with the consequences.
i am not taking it personally either (i don't think anybody does), but it still saddens me from time to time.

The perceived increase in intensity is a side-effect of you becoming an adult. Every generation goes through this phase, during which things seem more hopeless and worse than ever before. But we don't have a war that will kill a fifth of all men under 30, or a disease that will kill a third of the population. We have a physically easier life and are trying to come to grips with an existential crisis. For most of human existence, our main priorities have been food, shelter, mating, and protecting young. All of these things come relatively easily in our society, so we need other things to feel validated. We are searching for those things now, and it hurts that we aren't finding them.

>dance while the music is still playing

Indeed, I like that quote. But don't tell me that the purpose of my life is to keep the music playing, or that I must judge my dancing against everyone else's in order to feel enjoyment.

For me, if I were to continue on the same analogy, it would be to make sure that the music that is playing, whether or not I'll be around for the end of the song, to be one that I'd actually enjoy dancing to.

yes, things are not as grim right now. but i hope you agree that politics can still be a source of stress without such dire circumstances. while i was not talking about a crisis level stress, i agree with what you have to say about existential crisis. i just wish things weren't the way they are.

it is a song you only get to listen once, right? let's make the most of it.

Aye, dance on brother.

cheers.

I like driving around, unfortunately the government and the EU is actively working to make my hobby less and less feasible.

>(((artists)))

Can't disagree with that, but if they played your least favourite song, would you still be dancing?

Of course, it is frustrating. I don't know that anxiety or stress are the right descriptors, but I am frequently disappointed that every major news story seems to validate my belief that everyone in government is self-serving, unscrupulous, and greedy. These are the people who write our laws and pass our budgets. So a part of me says that I must have a distrust of government because the people who are drawn to it these days are not the kind of people I would trust in normal day-to-day life. Similarly, in general I don't like police officers because the people that the force attracts are generally power hungry, not-quite-bright people who see an easy route to authority and a pension. That's how I see cops because so many power-hungry douchebags manage to get on the force.

yeah. they are nice.

yes, that is exactly how i feel. and i am asking you: how do you escape it? what do you do?

This thread is a gift from the heavens, I actually felt like I was going to loose my sanity with everything that happened today.

Surfing you kook

hey, i am glad it helped.

CEramics, i would suggest this to any fag on here. its very therapeutic and just fells amazing to make something with your hands

Well, I work a normie job but for three weeks every year I go backpacking/hitchhiking/freighthopping and get to disappear for a while. I sleep outside for 5-7 days in a row, which helps to put things in perspective. My last two trips I talked with a lot of junkies and homeless people and since I was backpacking, they more or less treated me like one of their own.

Since you're looking for advice, just understand that things could be much worse. Most of us have things pretty good. And while the system is self-evidently supremely fucked, we all, to a certain degree, get to play by our own rules. Your life belongs to you. Most people choose to play within the rules and live safe, "healthy" lives. A few others of us decide to throw caution to the wind and search for adventures, wherever we may find them. And if those adventures end up killing us, so what? We were on a quick path towards death anyway.

Although it was a trite, overdone movie, think about that scene in Scarface when Al Pacino has just finished killing Robert Loggia. He saunters out onto the patio of the mansion at dusk and the message you get is: The World is Yours.

It is. Make of it whatever you want.

that is an interesting take on it, i can get down with that. thanks for sharing. which provinces (or any specific places) would you recommend for some backpacking?

mmm thats some good shit.
i don't know if this would be your taste but i find it relaxing:

This pretty much.

why do you listen to that pro-socialism bullshit

Alberta and BC. Haven't ever ventured out east. But if you find yourself in Vancouver, head into Washington and Hitch around the Pacific Northwest and even down the Pacific coast. My first trip, I got as far south as Arcata (which is full of burnt-out hippes). It was awesome sleeping on the beach along the Oregon coast and sleeping in downtown Portland wasn't as bad as it sounds because there are so many young homeless that they'll show you the good spots.

I have a PolSci degree and its pretty much my whole life. Smoking weed and playing games in my release.

helps me relax. and art is subjective. while it might remind other people of socialism, i use it to escape politics. it is much deeper than that.
also, it is pretty much inspired by george orwell's animal farm, which is, in many ways anti-socialist.

thanks for the tip. will make sure to hit there as soon as i get the chance. would you recommend going as a couple?

I can understand that, but pink floyd kind of lost me after they became political, listening to shit like animals just stresses me out

their earlier stuff like piper, saucerful, and meddle I think are much better. no politics, just pretty music

sounds unfortunate.
well, do you like your job?

I have no insight into that. I have traveled alone my whole life (I'm 27 years old) so I don't know the benefits and cons of traveling with a pair. However, I will say that following the blogs and writings of fellow travelers, most have a partner of some kind and they seem to be happy with it.

Sleep.

yeah, i can see the merit in that.
to me, not caring about its political side is my getaway, but i can definitely see it from your perspective.
hey, at least they did a good job popularizing the whole psychedelic rock movement. many great pieces there.

well, you will never know if you never try eh?
will pick her up for a week or two at least, see how that goes?
thanks for the tips man! good luck in your future travels!

Same to you. Explore the world. It's yours for the taking.

>what is your escape from stress, and all the political fuzz?

I really cant stop thinking or reading about political subjects. It's a borderline dysfunction at this point.

>I've been following politics since the age of 11, for some reason I just got intrigued by American politics then, I'm 22 now.

Pretty much exact same here.

>Well, I work a normie job but for three weeks every year I go backpacking/hitchhiking/freighthopping and get to disappear for a while. Sounds comfy.

try to beat it user, i am lost as much as you are. hopefully the thread was as helpful to you as it was for me.

It can be. Sleeping on the beach, the tide breathes moisture onto the inside of your tent. But waking up to the sound of the ocean is unmatched in my life.

Sleeping on park benches and under trees is okay too, but fairly uncomfortable. But guess what, while you're napping in a public park, you are no one. No responsibilities, not work to report to, no studying, no obligations. It's the closest I've gotten to absolute freedom.

>Also, OP --- take three months -- every time you want to check the news, read a book about history or politics, instead. Definitely going to try this.

>hopefully the thread was as helpful to you as it was for me.

It provided some good ideas for sure. Good luck, famalam.

Sounds like the perfect escape from the modern world.

it doesn't have to be so stressful, people really need to understand that if we want to make progress more quickly, i mean, if you are red pilled, then you've probably stopped caring about normies (ree), then there should be no reason to fear your own power level

it is the conflict that gets me. call me a pussy, but i had enough of it in my life. i just want to make peace with the world.
but each to their own i guess, huh?

anime

i don't give a fuck anymore

i have my job a place of my own bills to pay

when i have time to myself i just watch anime

fuck it
