Pentecostal reporting in

We need to take back the Hagia Sophia at least

Welcome brother

Heretic

Why aren't you posting from on top of a pillar Christian Sup Forums?

To paraphrase a Priestly writing from Russia (Pravmir i think), we must stop living in the time of Constantinople, it is too modern , we must go FURTHER back, to about 300AD

Who said I'm not?

>when the catholicism kicks in

The two kinds of Christians

Is this a recent quote?

It's just a building, user. We need to take it back from the infidel

...

Methodist protestant reporting in.

yes it is, well i paraphrased but i wasnt exagerrating

>The Chuech

Catholics aren't Christian

That's very good to hear. I hope this continues. They really do need to get their act together in America however.

Welcome brother! I hope you enjoy the undoubtedly heated theological discussions we shall engage in.

Greek Orthodox, standing by

I feel like Western Rite Orthodoxy could become more common in the west and that's a good thing.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Rite_Orthodoxy

Post some good Christian music. I'll start:
youtube.com/watch?v=2rnJ-9Oosv0

Do you believe that Jesus is God, user?

Do you further believe that God is the only one worthy of worship, and none else can compare?

>They really do need to get their act together in America however.
there is an answer, The Patriarchate of Moscow, traditionally in charge untill the vile bolsheviks came to russia, jewish ethnics inspired by secularist values

So do you believe all the myths or do you pick and choose?

Also how do you explain the more uncomfortable myths about Dionysos and do you think that there is a difference between Bacchus and Dionysos?

Do you practice the rituals the Greeks did? In the same way they did? Does that matter to you at all or is it personal?

What gave you faith?

Prove to me that you really believe in these gods larper. 99%.999999 of the time they are atheists or satanists or atheist satanists

Raised Catholic, but biblically illiterate. Share your truth plz.

It comes in and out of fashion, it's likely to remain marginal unless the EO's absorb a big group of continuing anglicans or something.

Yes and yes

agnostic user from the last thread, Pilgrims Progress tells of a man the climbs over the wall instead of going through the gate. I think you are that man, read the book if you haven't already, but get a modern translation. Also Screwtape Letters- -scary shit there.

Because cell phone posters are not better then Universalists.

Probably best to put a non-russian patriarch in charge of America to minimize FBI/CIA/Homeland Security blockings of Orthodox Church and/or other persecutions as well for the lame "Russia is muh evil" reasons.

Ask questions user!! Formulate opinions based on answers and/or study and research.

That's actually completely possible. The Episcopal Church is in shatters right now and tons of Anglicans, especially high church Anglo-Catholics, are leaving. The Catholic and Orthodox Churches have been having talks with them. I think the Anglicans themselves lean more toward working with the Orthodox over the Catholics generally.

>36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
>37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
>38 This is the first and great commandment.
>39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
>40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

>Anglicans and Protestants
ah, no thank you
you're the worst of them all, worse than Mormons

>non-russian patriarch
A Belarussian Patriarch of America then

Disgruntled Catholic

The Anglican communion is tearing itself apart. Pretty sad desu

Why is there so much modernism and so little discernment in modern Pentecostalism?

>worse than Mormons
That's quite a claim you're making.

>modernism
modernism is a vile satanic disease, thats why

Hey cool! Glad we're on the same page there.

So, as a Catholic, what is your beef with me?

Yeah it's definitely possible. I forget who from Russia, either Hilarion or the patriarch, last year met with leaders from ACNA and had kind words for them. I try to follow whats happening in those groups since I think they'd be good candidates for unity into the broader church, there's a lot of anti-catholicism there that might find orthodoxy a more appealing home.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by that.

It would work!

As far as I'm concerned the Communion only has itself to blame for allowing so much bullshit over the last few decades. The fact that the Episcopal Church even allows married gay priests, women priests, and even a woman bishop who goes against Paul and even Christ himself's message is unacceptable.

>I speak in tongues, therefore I am closer to God
Acts is an abomination. It shouldn't be in the bible, it should be in the apocrypha

So is Jude and James, according to Martin Luther.

>Acts is an abomination. It shouldn't be in the bible, it should be in the apocrypha
Oh, I see, you're a heretic.

Revelation is the filler book in the new testament.

But it's true

>So do you believe all the myths or do you pick and choose?

For the most part yes but I acknowledge the fact that they weren't men't to be taken too literally

>Also how do you explain the more uncomfortable myths about Dionysos and do you think that there is a difference between Bacchus and Dionysos?

Dionysos and Bacchus are the same deities. I am not quite familiar with Dionysos though, so I cannot answer that question.

>Do you practice the rituals the Greeks did?

No, I practice in the Germanic style. I am an ardent worshipper of Freyja, Wotan, and Balder.

>In the same way they did?

As much as I can.

>What gave you faith?

I can't pinpoint the exact moment, it was a combination of many things.

>Prove to me that you really believe in these gods larper.

I'll post pics of my altar in a bit

Long long ago when the Anglicans first broke off from the Catholic Church they actually did apply to become part of the Orthodox Church but got turned down. I think it'd be very exciting to see the Anglicans become part of the Orthodox Church now.

Do you deny the book of Acts as well? Like does?

The books in the apocrypha are worth looking at but they aren't in it for a reason.. not that I agree wholly with the reasoning, this should definitely be in it

>muh fish hat
yes I am

I always remember Luther and St. Thomas Moore calling each other shit-mouths in Latin. Moore was particurally adept at it.

I grew up in a largely non-denominational church, they identify loosely as Pentecostal. But I never really understood what that meant. Now that I'm old enough to choose my own church, where should I go?

or Perhaps an Armenian

lol, all it needs are checkered flags at the top right and a big fiery pit at the bottom right

>think they'd be good candidates for unity into the broader church, there's a lot of anti-catholicism there that might find orthodoxy a more appealing home.

>tfw all the other denominations bond over their hatred of you.

You guys just know deep down we're the right one.

It seems that Eastern Orthodoxy in unchanging as ever and that it holds staunchly onto the values of traditionalism and conservatism. Would that be about right?

I don't know my history, why were they turned down exactly?
>The books in the apocrypha are worth looking at but they aren't in it for a reason..

Again, why would Jude and James be considered "Apocrypha"?

Also, do you believe that the Bible is the word of God?

I think even political enemies would have difficulty questioning an Armenian.

As a Catholic, I would say go ahead and find out for yourself. You might be right.

Time to teach Catholics about the Bible
Since they barely read it
I'll talk about several points in Catholic dogma that is simply heretic against biblical instructions. May take a few posts

Let's start with creating,
Worshipping/praying to graven images,
What does the Bible say about it?

Exodus 20:4-forward “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.

Deuteronomy 4:23-24 Be careful not to forget the covenant of the LORD your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the LORD your God has forbidden. For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

Leviticus 26:1 “Do not make idols or set up carved images, or sacred pillars, or sculptured stones in your land so you may worship them. I am the LORD your God.
Psalm 97:7 All who worship images are put to shame, those who boast in idols– worship him, all you gods!
Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.

Habakkuk 2:18 “Of what value is an idol carved by a craftsman? Or an image that teaches lies? For the one who makes it trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.

Jeremiah 10:14-15 Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them. They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.

Leviticus 19:4 Do not put your trust in idols or make metal images of gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.

>B-b-but what about the new testament??
Already reached limit, wait next post.

Also meant for I apologize.

see

I'm in the same boat, help anons.

>*blocks your path*
>*prays to mary and the pope instead of jesus*

>I think even political enemies would have difficulty questioning an Armenian.
just another way to annoy/infuriate Turkey and even more so confuse the secularists

>they weren't meant to be taken literally

That started with the Philosophers which denied the Greek gods altogether asserting one deity, not our deity but anyways. It became popular among the height of Roman Imperial power when they became disgusted with various deeds of certain deities

This is why the Greeks and Romans were fond of allegory bc it was the only way to figure out a moral code with their gods

However, for the vast majority of greek and Roman history and for most people outside academia, they were taken extremely literally.

Not nearly as familiar with the German gods as I am with the classical ones but anyways

You may have an altar but do you understand that the sacrifices are basically payment of sorts for favors and blessings from them?

Sorta curious most pagans tell me they don't believe in any of it

Also do you believe the world is flat. Im a flat earther I wont ridcule you if you beleive it but most people outside of the philosphy crown believevd in a flat earth

The Orthodox basically stated that the beliefs between the two were too different and since the Anglican Church at the time was unwilling to come to a more Orthodox understanding they were incompatible. Still now is a very different time from then.

>Those bouts with Arianism
>Those bouts with Iconoclasm
>Those times they submitted to Imperial Authority

Imagine being such a psychic that your blind faith in the Demiurge disallows you from realising the true teachings of Jesus Christ and becoming one with the Monad.

Actually shaking my damn head right now Sup Forums

Christianity is a Plebbit meme. You literally worship a skewered kike

What should I read before choosing a church?
>inb4 Protestans
I live close enough to the US to know what a McChurch is

This is a union thread get you shit together

as a southern baptist, I've never liked the chants (Matthew 6:7), although I confess to really liking this one because it's in American English and just a beautiful song.

youtu.be/NgriVVhCM3c

>Exodus 20:4-forward “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.

Statues aren't forbidden. God commands Moses to carve statues for a religious purpose: two cherubim which would sit atop the Ark of the Covenant.

Idols are made for worship. That's different from simple statues.

Next you'll say that Altars are idols.

A real Pentecostal church

Are you wanting books to convince you of a particular church or of Christianity in general?

>Time to teach Catholics about the Bible

Read Timothy and get back to us.

New testament.

Ephesians 5:5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a person is an idolater–has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Colossians 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

Corinthians 6:9-10 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelations 21:7-8
7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

Catholics will answer to my post with nothing but their feelings and absolutely no biblical verses to back anything they say.

This is part one, graven images

>[chechen detected]
пeдик

I will note though the pagans never had a theology of sorts. If you didn't believe in those myths but came up with your own they woudlnt say it is any less true. There wasn't Doctrine like with Christians or other modern religiosns

go worship your kike-on-stick Tyron

Particular church, It is more that clear that the Pagan Meme is not for me (pic related)

This is a union thread, every branch agrees that John of Chrysostom was great. I mean it's literally official even with the Anglicans and Lutherans apparently

Gonna tell putin and you end up in a gulag

>do you understand that the sacrifices are basically payment of sorts for favors and blessings from them?

Obviously but praying / altars w/e isn't just for sacrifice and offerings

>Also do you believe the world is flat. Im a flat earther I wont ridcule you if you beleive it but most people outside of the philosphy crown believevd in a flat earth

No, absolutely not. Erastothenes I think his name was calculated the size of the earth and acknowledged that it was a globe.

God commanded the creation of that personally
The rules are made for us, not for him
He can create exceptions when he feels like it
But we can't without a direct order of God create any idols as countless of Bible verses already states.

or perhaps "blueboy" is your preferance Mohommad. Stay mad and conquered chechen

Kek, true enough.

Makes sense. I hope we see Anglicans make a stronger return to the Apostolic fold.

Again, statues aren't idols. Statues were commonly made during the reign of King David, and with the Ark of the Covenant.

It's idols that are forbidden, and statues aren't not idols anymore than Michael Angelos David is an idol.

You can go the Muslim route and say that depictions are forbidden, but that's not accurate theologically.

Stay submissive and retarded like le kike-on-le-stick

REEEEE

>He can create exceptions when he feels like it

Yes of course but this wasn't an exception case.

You need to understand that there is a strict difference between an idol, and decorative sculptures/statues.

By your logic, pottery is forbidden.

There is a church close to me that does English readings. I feel I should go but I have no idea what will be going on. Do I go and say hello to the parish priest or just wait?

What's you favourite book anons?
Mine is Ecclesiastes.

This guy is correct. Idols in the ancient world were not mere statues, but believed to be actual, physical manifestations of their Gods. Read roman literature, these things are referred to by the title God or Goddess exclusively.

Moreover, protestants never seem to answer what is the difference between a carved statue and a carved cross. Crosses, even if unadorned, are still images. If a carved statue of Christ is an idol, then how is a carved cross not? Both are evoking something other then themselves

Remember that National Socialism was a pagan movement. You cannot be a National Socialist if you are Chr*stian

Well he was the philosopher crowd. I do encourage anybody to look into it. Just look into flat earth threads on here or look at videos. But it was a popular meme in ancient times.

Well you know I do apprecaite I found one person who is sincere. I don't like phonies.

Curious what sort of offerings do you give and to which gods in particular?
