STUDY: Youth crimes spike immediately after drinking age

>STUDY: Youth crimes spike immediately after drinking age

>A new study from the Northern Medical Program at the University of Northern British Columbia has shown that minimum legal drinking age (MLDA) legislation in Canada can have a major effect on crimes committed by young adults. Young people just older than the legal age had significant increases in commission of all crimes, including violent crimes and nuisance crimes, compared to those immediately under the restriction.

>"As soon as youth are given legal access to alcohol, there are immediate effects on their involvement in police-reported criminal behaviours," says Dr. Callaghan

>"The number of police-reported criminal incidents involving both male and females who have just reached the legal drinking age rises dramatically, a pattern which illustrates the impact that alcohol-related legislation can have on crime including violent crimes and overall public health."

======

Is it time to ban alcohol again? It's done nothing good for our society. Many crimes that take place can be traced back to alcohol consumption. When many young people start to become adults, they go out and started binge drinking. This isn't good.

>Is it time to ban alcohol again?
That'll go well.

>Is it time to ban alcohol again?
>Literally a full segment of american history where it already didn't go well

Well something has to be done to protect people, especially the youth, from harming themselves with this stuff.

Great idea man! I cant believe nobody has thought of this before!!

>Is it time to ban alcohol again?
No, Achmed. It didnt work last time and it wont work this time either.

absolutely based CRP posting american

>Well something has to be done to protect people, especially the youth, from harming themselves with this stuff.
Why does the government need to nanny adults?

>Is it time to ban alcohol again?

Yes, fuck that degenerate drug only for weak minded people

Just teach your fucking kids how to drink. Also niggers always fuck up statistics.

because we live in a country full of fat brown "adults" with a mean IQ dropping by the day

>turned 21 last month
>try out alcohol
>its fucking disgusting
Why do people do this

Sure ban it in the US if you want
But i'll tell you now, that shit won't fly over here in europe. Drinking is a massive part of our culture and most people here would kill for booze.

and kafir call muslims degenerates

Bye bye mohammed.

>Why does the government need to nanny adults?

Because adults don't always make the best decisions. Secondly, 21 year olds aren't adults.

Now imagine how those "fat brown "adults" with a mean IQ dropping by the day" would react if you took away the drug 90% of them consume

they say it takes one to know one

Try wheat beer or cider.

Because better drugs arent allowed and alcohol is very addictive. Thats literally all there is to it.

Who gives a shit? Its darwinism at its finest, if you cant keep yourself from downing half gal of vodka and punching a cop its no ones fault but your own. I know plenty of people who can have a few shots, have good time, go home and go to bed.

>what is public intoxication
>what are open container laws

It's their decision to make ahmed. Go back to r/safespace/ and talk more about how we need to ban uni speakers because 21 year olds won't understand that the nazi opinions they are hearing are dangerous.

Naa just don't call it a ban this time and it will go fine.
Don't you want common sense alcohol regulations?
It's common sense, we need to protect the women and children.
We are not trying to ban alcohol only restrict hard liqueur.
Children could find their parents alcohol so all alcohol must be kept in a safe.
Of course you need a background check before you buy alcohol, it's common sense.

Oh and don't forget to call it something like 'the stars and stripes act' or 'the true American's bill' you can't say no to something so patriotic.

>Because adults don't always make the best decisions.
So? Why should your right to choose your own destiny be altered because some dumb shits cant handle it themselves?
>Secondly, 21 year olds aren't adults.
>Can be in porn
>can vote
>can buy guns
>can buy a house
>can enter into legal contracts
>Can be shipped halfway around the world to kill brown people
>Not an adult
Whats it like being a complete retard?

I'm in my early 20s with a completely clean record, skinnyfat 5'9" twink tier and not a fighter at all, but I have a feeling that if someone tried to fuck with me I would be a little more confrontational while drinking. I'd never throw the first punch. Also i encounter way more drink assholes that run their mouths at the bar, it's them being totally disrespectful and stuff.

>"muh just ignore it"
I do but like I said I think problems are more likely to develop when alcohol is involved

I'd probably get my ass beat though, my dad is like 50 and he said he's never really been in a fight, probably because he never went to the bars.

with hard liquor you get what you pay for
beer is an acquired taste

>ftw, not even had alcohol since new years eve

I feel so much better

>americans actually wait until the legal age to try something

The better option would be to lower the drinking age to 15 or 16 for beer and wine. Normalize moderation, and people won't go nuts when they turn 21.

got any slags pissing themselves? for, you know, science?

Just legalize weed and then all the gangs wont be able to sell it, and then all the kids will just be high instead of drunk.

>Why do people do this

it removes your inhibition threshold and thus makes social gatherings and parties more fun as long as you don't overdo it.

> How to destroy a civilization in the name of "freedom" 101

Most people are retarded m8
We need strict social rules to function.

I've had alcohol before 21,I just never drank a while lot until I was 21

>Plan to tackle alcohol abuse as liver cancer diagnoses up 300pc
independent.ie/irish-news/health/plan-to-tackle-alcohol-abuse-as-liver-cancer-diagnoses-up-300pc-35624574.html

Alcohol also causes cancer. There's nothing to be gained by drinking it except regret.

Studies show consistently that the later someone drinks for the first time the less likely they are to abuse it and have problems and that problem drinking is associated with a parental laissez-fair attitude.

I find it hard to believe. The youth are drinking before 21, I would imagine the troublesome youth are especially. How can people who wait until 21 to drink magically turn into criminals?

Best solution is to lower the drinking age so that way kids learn how to fucking behave
Every time I'm told about someone who didn't drink until they were old enough the next thing I hear is always about how they're turning into huge alcoholics

That implies that I would go to those things

This

Land of the free

>minimum jail terms for weed in non legal states
>other drug penalties are worse
>feds can still fuck with them in legal states
>cant have open alcohol containers in a car
>cant drink outside

>Huemonkey knowing anything bout freedom

CAUSATION VS CORRELATION OP IS A RETARD

alcohol ruined my life lol

Both categorically incorrect

and weight

Quit drinking then too, started working out, feel better then I have in the past 10 years since I became of legal drinking age here. Looking back over the past few months you really start to see how degenerate alcohol actually is when its all anyone ever wants to do is get shit faced hammered every weekend.

Weed is a safer, non-addictive alternative to alcohol.

Prohibition simply gives power to gangs and criminals.
Stupid faggot lrn2history.

>People do degenerate shit when they're drunk
>Ground-breaking academic study

Pick one

(((social science)))

He actually thinks weed is non-addictive.

then I must assume that you've never anything bad happen in your life. I would've probably killed myself if it weren't for alcohol

>North Americans don't let their kids drink at all before they legally can buy it themselves
>Surprised they go full retard

My mum sent me to the pub at 15, and I nor any of my friends have ever been in trouble because of booze

Sad. Those slankets should be rearing children, cleaning a house and pleasuring their husbands.

I think this is the reason for the spike in the statistics.
People keep themselves away from these things for so long, that they go apeshit when they are actually allowed.
Also a 21 year old will have a lot more money to blow on alcohol compared to a teen, so there's that factor too.
Started drinking on a weekly basis at 15, lost nearly all interest in it when I was 18 and it became legal.
Far better option than waiting till the legal age and only then starting to experiment with it.

(((noevidenceatall)))

But please go ahead and encourage your kids to start mild sexual activity young so that by the time they're 18 they wont become huge sluts. Seen as im sure your oblivious understanding of human nature will pay off.

I'm 18 and I've never touched alcohol. Never plan to either. This country has a real problem with drink that needs to be tackled.

>Prohibition simply gives power to gangs and criminals.

If that's the case, the gangs and criminals would given power over every thing that's banned. Hunting during certain seasons is banned, but you don't see gangs and criminals having power over hunting during those seasons.

You need to think about the damage this is doing to the younger generation.

>Don't plan to either
You haven't been to university or gotten a full time job yet have you?

Post more sluts doing degenerate drunk shit OP

Hello achmed, how is life up in bradford?

>not teaching your kids about sex
Haven't you ever watched porn?

You mean like holding hands and kissing? Surely they'll be huge sluts

I dont imagine you are very socially popular are you and i can guarantee you are a virgin.

>drinking age corresponds with age at which you can be prosecuted under Criminal Code and not Youth Criminal Justice Act
>huge spike in crime at this age

I'm sure these are unrelated, continue to point the finger at your chosen bogeyman.

Nope. Don't plan to go to university.
Eat shit

this

Hunting during certain seasons isn't a huge money maker.
You can't make a multibillion dollar industry disappear. There are way too many people depending on that money.

>Hunting during certain seasons is banned, but you don't see gangs and criminals having power over hunting during those seasons.
Nah, you just see people hunting illegally. It's almost as if people will engage in certain activities regardless of legality.
>t. Achmed Muhammad Abdul al-Sahim

I knew it, there is always some detail they ignore. This is why social sciences is a meme.

>implying

Explain why Its wrong
I feel that teaching kids the dangers of going overboard by letting go overboard is the best way go about it
If some kid has a horrible night from drinking to much he's not going to drink that much, if he gets chucked in a cell for the night then he's gonna calm down the next time he's out, all my friends and I started drinking at about 15-16 and we had some wild years but by the time we were old enough to actually drink we calmed down drastically

It also makes young girls hang out on the streets at night getting into sexual situations. That's how a lot of unwanted pregnancies happen. Alcohol impairs their judgement and in some cases they get taken advantage of.

if you want to do something about it raise alcohol taxes, its the same shit they do to stop people from smoking

>You need to think about the damage this is doing to the younger generation.
I do. I support segregation.

But they do. Criminals have control over guns, prostitution, and drugs wherever it's banned. If music or other media is banned, criminal gangs have control over those, also.

Prohibition has already been tried and was a massive failure.

It doesn't matter, you almost certainly will end up drinking, nearly all of the decent jobs that you can get without a degree involve heavy social drinking

So they'll just do it illegally like they do all the other drugs.

Ivory trade, tiger trade, poaching, etc. you're a fucking dolt, m8

Thats like a textbook example of the fallacy of overextension of logic.

I'm not participating in it. Sorry. If people don't like that, tough.

and what makes you think banning alcohol will stop any of this? Hoes will ho with or without alcohol.

Teaching kids about something is different to encouraging them to practice it younger. What you are advocating is giving children alcohol, not telling them about it. Likewise go ahead and put your children with members of the opposite sex from a young age so they can make out and there's now way it would progress!

Except wait, once again studies show that the earlier age of sexual intercourse the more eventual partners someone will have, the higher the divorce rate and higher depression. Just as is the pattern with early alcohol exposure.

Thanks for the offer my sub-continental friend, but im not hungry at the minute and i dont fancy indian food anyway.

Reminder: alcohol related diseases went down tremendously after Prohibition.
There were less domestic crimes and less crimes in general.
The papers exaggerated mobster activity for sales.

>prohibition was a failure due to prohibition agents being completely unequipped to dealing with it especially in an era where law enforcement was much harder
>therefore we should legalize all drugs cause black market and people do it lmao 420
lelbertarians will hang on the day of rope

My family gave me alcohol from childhood and I never went crazy for it in my late teens like others. I don't really care for it at all.

Then enjoy your dead end job.
The two best things you can do for your future is learn how to drink and learn how to play golf.

Nobody cares, I'm just telling you how it is
Nearly everyone in Britain drinks

Exactly, its a part of american culture. :^)

The liquorjew has always been part of the destruction of society.

...

Alcohol is actually good for your heart if you drink in moderation.

Yea but hunting certain animals is banned and there seems to be a lot of money in poaching
I'm not saying we should let people hunt endangered species or anything, I'm just saying you used a stupid analogy

>I am an edgy bootlicker who has no actual argument and instead will LARP about MUH ROPE DAY

Also, do you know what really ruins lives?
Criminal records.

It's all fun and games until it's your sister or daughter.

>Implying I plan on ever working and don't plan to leech off the benefit system whilst everyone else works for my paycheck
>Nearly everyone is Britain drinks
Don't care. This country is shit.
