Banks will have to decide on their own if they should loan $80k for a gender studies degree at Feels University, while loans for engineering degrees at MIT will continue.

Than companies will come home and foreign companies will invest in the USA because it's so cheap and profitable to manufacture here. Basically just switch aces with China and Vietnam. Do all that AND automate so that things are more efficient and productive BUT do not let the working class or lower management reap the benefits if it. Make them work 39 hours per week so you don't have to insure them and don't pay them enough to able to work one job. Explain how you think subsidizing the unemployed is going to help the economy. Draw a flowchart or something. There's got to be some logic here that I'm not seeing, because the traditional logic of subsidies doesn't yield the result you seek.
Governments subsidize shit all the time. It's a favorite tool of leftists. The idea is that if you subsidize a behavior, you get more of it. Whether or not this is true is irrelevant for the sake of this conversation; the point I am trying to make is that leftists subsidize things they want more of.
If leftists want to subsidize the unemployed through a universal basic income, then they must want more unemployed. If they are using the same tool they've used so many times before, they must expect the same results they were seeking in other areas: more of what they are subsidizing. So now the question becomes 'why do leftists want more unemployed?'
It's the same reason they want universal healthcare. It's a leash by which they can control you.
