Why don't you learn a trade?

Why don't you learn a trade?

because I was born into a rich NYC family and don't need to learn "skills" to keep rural and suburban retards busy.

> programming √
> electronics @ uni
> metalworking √
> basic electrics √
> working with vehicles √
> economics, current side project

What more has life to offer?

Nope. Not lifting a finger until Boomers are dead or social security is abolished.

learn some woodworking, the ability to construct, maintain and repair stuff around your house is very useful

Make 100k a year in the northeastern united States off of an apprenticeship program with no student debt.

Y'all neets need to step up. And with boomers dying, the trades need manpower.

I can't afford to leave my shitty cash jockey job to get the training :/

Your country's name is really fun to pronounce.

I was a welder for 5 years. It's an incredibly shitty job. Even with the correct respiratory masks and gear, it's still very hard on your health.

Now I'm a machinist. Lost my job three months ago due to the layoffs and haven't been able to find gainful employment. Meanwhile useless jobs like mid-level management and HR are posted on the regular.

Any cheap way to do this past apprentice age in the UK?

But I did...

> fine/custom woodworker who also holds a BS in Physics

Because I deserve a living wage no matter how I apply myself.

Current job is way too easy to leave yet.

I did, got my A+ and Network+ in high school, im 25 and make ok money (20.50/hr) working in IT. I have no debt and own my car.

I'm not doing the best but im happy.

What cunt is that? I can't tell because I'm a dumb phoneposter.

You are doing much better than me. I have to live with my parents and I'm 30. Have no skills, job I was going to train for got automated.

I learned a whole bunch of flags from this website. The only friend that can compete with me is the kid that plays europa universalis. Thx moot.

Guadeloupe

ah rei my love.

too lazy n shitttt

I already did. Did an apprenticeship to become an electrician and now have just completed a degree to become an electrical engineer.

If you don't have a trade, you're probably some little faggot that's never worked with his hands and sits in a cubicle all day.

>pic unrelated

I'm already a plater welder.

What do I win?

i liked it better when we could pick flags

I already have one.. Using Microsoft Excel

what trade

>learn 1 trade
>add more trades
>have 200,000 trades and 1/8 employrs hire you

i bet you did. who wants to be from some spic country?

EU doesn't use any modern flags though.

Jokes on you, I did learn a trade.

Currently shitposting in my crew truck because we have no work cleared until noon - pic related.

Join a trade anons, I'm 20 years old working 10-12 hour days at $21 an hour, and that's apprentice wage, in 2 1/2 years I'll be earning double that.

said the american

the better question is- What part of the US/ City should young people go to learn these skills, and then to find employment

and where do WE need these people

im an apprentice as a ''steel shipbuilder'' at a shipyard, i'll be finish in 3½ years.
I also help my father build houses.
I went 2 years in school learning about basic electricion, but couldnt get an apprenticeship. so i startend on the shipyard instead.

This.

Become a real man instead of some little fairy in an office.

Hell down here in the South with 3-5 years experience E&I guys are making ~$!00,000-$125,000 depending on how much overtime someone wants to work.

>ywn live on an tiny idyllic island in the middle of nowhere and build ships

Fucking kill me.

Because a 4 year in hands up dont shoot studies only costs 50,000$. Then you can become president and when your done get paid 400,000$ to do 15 minute teleprompter readings.

what trade? where do you live in Canada? how did you get the apprenticeship?

>tfw tradesmen are paid lower than sweepers and treated worse than maids here

Sounds like underwater welder

working is gay & too hard

No, you don't deserve shit, all you deserve is what you have earned...

Machinist here, 25 years old making 85k a year. and I get to wear a tshirt and cowboy boots to work every day.

damn, a flag that I didn't have yet

They told me that electrical engineering was a field that basically guaranteed jobs.
Several months later and almost a hundred resumes sent out later and I've gotten one interview and an email to set up a phone call that never happened.

Mechanical Insulation.
Alberta, I work industrial up north near the oil sands.
All I did was call the insulator union hall and ask for a job, it was literally that easy.

stop me-posting you imposter

>some little faggot that's never worked with his hands and sits in a cubicle all day.

Why would I do dirty work myself instead of paying some lowlife to do it for me and making his day?

i love charity.

Got my seal in welding and cooking i have been floating between both industries for the last 8 years good stuff although its kinda sad that the chef position i have now barley matches when i was welding piplines up north

I am happy working with my hands, being independent, and make lots of money.

Enjoy working for Mr Rosenbaum.

Can anyone Redpill me on masonry/anything involving concrete? With all this infrastructure planning I can see it leading to good (($$))

Best Korea?

>and make lots of money.
You're not though...

Lol, you are such a moron.
Those people make 4k-15k a month who work independently.

Most who do it independently make 8k+
A month.

While you make measly 800 dollars a week.

...

until you're shit breaks down and then you need some charity case to fix it for you huh?

Trades is the way to go. I went into procedd operations for a 4 year program which contained two 8 month co-op paying 22$/hr (first co-op) and 30$/hr (second co-op). After finishing the co-ops you're almost guaranteed a job starting at 35$/hr and within 5 years you top off at 50$/hr. Pension and benefits are also a given ontop of that. Only 24 years old.

**process operations

Amen to that brother, I went to university for poli sci/economics right after highschool, and while the courses interested me I absolutely despised the environment and was dreading the day I would become just another office drone working in a cubicle farm.

Dropping out and joining a trade was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I get to be myself, I get to work with my hands and it's satisfying, best of all The people I work with are insanely red-pulled middle aged dudes who give zero fucks. As someone without a true father figure in my youth it's an incredible feeling to be able to look up to someone and ask them advice on anything whether it's work or life related.

because working with your hands/body lowers the risk for depression and improves your health.
what does a craftsman get an hour in America?
her on the Faroe island its is 140,42 dkk which is 20.81 usd
this is ofc minimum.

RARE

Do they take immigrants? Faroe Islands sounds pretty sweet.

I wish I could make a living cutting grass. Did that when I got out of the service, happiest I have ever been.

This. Been welding and machining for 15 years, make only 33k in the Midwest. Owners and managers have a welfare nigger attitude in the trades. They always complain about the shortage of skilled people, but wont pay shit to make it worth learning, even if the future of the business depends on it. They sit at desks and yell at engineers, take all of the profit from your work ( REAL work) and let you keep a measly portion. They will frequently ask extra work, time, or tasks of you without any extra compensation, citing " company loyalty" as justification, but will readily cut you and put you on the streets at their earliest convenience.

If you aren't travelling, in a bloated union, self employed, or working on a project stuffed with government cheese, you make fuckall in the trades.

T. Leaving the trades

Because learning a trade costs money that I don't have and I don't know what "trade" to do. In my current situation my circumstances don't permit it, I need to find a new job soon so I don't have time to learn a trade.

I fucked up desu. I should have. fuck debt.

only a small number that the danish send op her, but its minimum so it's okey.
you only see white people, and some adopted ofc. Pizzerias are runed by blacks/arabs
we do how ever have a lot of bulgarians and polaks working her

Thanks! Do you know what trades are in demand in Denmark?

People overrate the trades on here. Better than a non-stem degree maybe, but I used to work alongside a lot of tradesmen at my last job and almost every single one could hardly walk. Their bodies took a fuck ton of abuse over the years. Then you have the unions to worry about, they only allow so many people in each year to keep the demand in the trade up so if you don't have an uncle or an "in" to get into one, good luck. Also, you cannot just "learn" a trade. You're going to need to fork over about $8000 - $11,000 to get into it. For example right now I work along aircraft mechanics. Just to get the school/book work done is about $8000 and a couple of years, then to get your AMP license you need to take a course which costs $5000 and it has a test at the end which you can fail.

why aren't you in a union?
her i live, we pay to a union, we get Christmas gift (a box of food) every year. pension, and ofc protected, so a company can't fire you, without legitimate reasons.
i really dont know, maybe electrician is a good pick.
Polacks are taking all the welders jobs.
Maybe housebuilding, but not a good idea to come from denmark to faroe island as a house builder to build houses, cause mostly all those houses get damage/destroy when high winds are her.

Faroe Island do have home rule, but we don't control foreign policy on some areas, one of them are rapefuges and immegrants.
the Socialist (that want to leave the danish kingdom) want to control foreign policy, so they can take rapefugees in.
im afraid that they will flood the country

Personally believe it should be required to learn a trade in high school or before being accepted into college.

That would give skills to the unskilled and light a fire under your ass when you get to college if you don't enjoy trade work.

What subapp are you using that doesn't show flags

can I move there if I speak only english?

>implying electrical engineering isn't a trade as well as an academic field

better luck next time, kiddo

>Major in mechanical engineering
>lots of hand on experience since not shit tier university
>no problem working in a trade if it falls through

nice

Faroe digits
May kek bless you and your island user

I can see flags, but if it's one I don't recognize, I can't mouse over it and see the country like I would on my computer. I'm fairly good at geography (for a burger, at least) but I didn't know Guadeloupe.

yeah, but you would have to learn the language if you don't want to be left out.
I personally wouldn't want to hang out with a english talking person, because i hate talking in foreign language.
Thanks american bro

>read an instructions manual
Yeah... I don't consider that really "learning a trade"

I like this idea. Its irritating that people come out of college with zero practical skills related to their field. They've never touched or made anything of quality in their life. ME's should know a bit about machining first.

hi Barron

omg.........Guadeloupe!!!

i'm already too old

comfy

better money in buying & selling stuff

This.

Try Clover, it has the names by each flag. Plus comfy navigation/layout

Because it pays peanuts and tradesmen are treated like subhuman a in my retarded country.
Also no toilets so plumbing is a no go.

Fuck how do I get into a trade to work for like exxonmobile and shit

See yourself out of here, you voted for that scandal-ridden commie

Patrician-tier car choice, my man

>exxonmobile
You start by naming the company right.

I went to a 4 year trade school. It was right after the economic crisis hit.

They told me
>"Only mechanics are guaranteed a job these days"
I check ads, it's true.
>4 years later
>Finish school, get my diploma
>Try to find a job
>Nobody needs mechanics anymore.

Then I found one job that seemed good enough.
I was fucking wrong, being a diesel mechanic is really hard work,
especially when you work alone for most of the time.
Keep in mind 90% of the cusomers are truckers. So lots of trucks and lorries.
Winter season means non-stop work, but the pay remains shit anyways.

I mananged to keep at it for 2 years, then I got sick of it, and quit.
Have been unemployed ever since, make money from odd jobs here and there,
almost none of them related to my prefession.

tl;dr - Pick your trade carefully.

Welding is literally a shit-tier trade.

Sounds like a good day.

exxonmobil sorry pajeet

How's electrical work in the northeast?
