Nationalism isn't bad because it got them gassed, well it is, but it was bad for them before it got them gassed. A cohesive unified but nationalistic set of white nations, a confederacy if you will, would be difficult to conquer with planet wide federalism. Not so when each act of defense against this totalitarianism would require civil war in each country.
