Depends where you go. You do hear a lot of "Mussolini was wrong for taking us into the war but other than that he was a pretty good guy." You hear it in the south a lot, too because Mussolini actually tried to improve the south. To some success.

My grandparents kind of smile and say "it wasn't all bad" when I ask them but they won't go into it more. I think there is pressure to hate him but people who lived through it saw their quality of life increase before the war.
