I think self improvement is a big part of right wing politics.
Where the left is focused on individual liberties, hedonistic freedoms, nihilism etc The right is focused on duties, discipline, authority, a sense of purpose etc
It is poor form to preach a lifestyle you cannot yourself adhere too.
Whilst there are some obvious rules we should follow, there also seems to be some confusion and opposing opinions on what constitutes as moral and just living.
Please us this thread to discuss what you believe to be either 'degenerate' or 'pure' behaviours and also state what you are doing to improve yourself. Perhaps you can offer knowledge to somebody struggling with a vice you have already overcome.
I took a cold shower this morning. Also eating healthier. Getting rid of acne. Studying to be an engineer.
Brayden Perry
Here is a fairly well agreed upon list of degenerate activity:
Drug use Immodest clothing Atheism Promiscuity Celibacy Miscegenation Homosexuality Mindless entertainment (anime, video games) Pornography Laziness Anything taken to excess
Here is a list of fairly well agreed upon 'pure' activities:
Reading (especially) non fiction Writing Traditional art Family building Political activism Exercise
Any more we can add to the list?
Kevin Davis
Good man, how did the shower feel?
I pulled up loads of thorny bushes from my yard and cut the grass this morning. Finishing a drawing I've been working on for a fortnight this evening.
My biggest undertaking is slowly building up a social life and circle of friends and family. I've been a loner for too long and I've started to realise the importance of fraternity.

It felt amazing. I kept yelling loudly but it felt good. It also forced me to finish the shower quickly. Normally I take incredibly long hot showers that dry out my skin. I was basically addicted to them.

I swear there is no better feeling than a freezing cold shower after a sauna. I used to be the same though, I'd come out red raw with my skin steaming.

Good shout, survivalist skills in general are probably more important than anything else on the list.
Logan Sullivan
You're a slave to your impulses.

I'm giving up weed, booze, porn and fapping.
Going to the gym 5 nights a week, making sure I watch all my lectures and do a little bit of revision every night.

Awesome cheers mate

I've been focusing on my mental discipline. My life has stresses, just like yours, but letting anxiety and panic take hold of you will make everything so much harder.
- Morning meditation/body scan - Awareness of things you can't control - Don't beat yourself up, seriously. We can be very toxic to ourselves. - If you have a toxic thought, let it fade away like a cloud.
Nathaniel Clark

How do you let go of mistakes? I still give myself shit for things I did when I was drunk and 15. In fact, the reason I became so isolated in my life is because I couldn't forgive myself for those mistakes. I felt like I should be kept away from people.

Marcus Aurelius - Meditations One of the best things I've ever read. Lots of practical advice and liveable philosophy.
>Learn how to control your thoughts and emotions >Self-discipline becomes child's play >Levels of concentration you didn't think were possible >Feelings of deep well-being emerge from seemingly nowhere
Just 30 minutes a day will work wonders. It's a crime that this isn't taught in school
Bentley Cooper
I think stuff like camping and hunting should be on the non-degenerate list.
Noah Clark
Whats a good way to start meditating effectively? Any resources?
William Flores
These threads are the most important thing on this board, there needs to be a Self Improvement General up at all times and frequented by all, that being said does anyone have any resources on how to write well?
I haven't put pen to paper in many years and am slowly losing ability to write at length.
Michael Allen
agreed. Here is a massive wealth of information regarding survival and re-building civilisation. It's intended for polar shift but can be applied to any form of disaster:
Wish I could help, what kind of things do you want to write?
Camden Bell
I agree, these are incredibly valuable boards.

I've been thinking about setting up a fraternity of some kind.
A place where young white men can share ideas, knowledge, skill sets, resources etc Where you could exercise, engage in competitive sports/hobbies. Become involved politically or start a worthwhile charity.
Just not sure what the legal implications would be and whether any one in my local area would be up for it.
Aaron Thomas
Not literary writing but, essays perhaps? Like writing interesting articles.
The technique is very simple, and you should start seeing results after only a couple of weeks. The most important part is to do it daily, particularly in the beginning. You need to build momentum and get accustomed to the practice
Anthony Garcia
Ive been reading up on political theory, learning a new language, learning guitar, lifting weight and running

Thanks I will look into this. I was kind of hoping that sorting out my external problems would help me achieve some kind of internal balance, but it only goes so far.
Maybe start a blog, choose a recent event, something you feel you can write effectively about and add too. See how it goes from there. I can't really help with the content side but I feel as though making the first step is key.
Lucas Johnson
Cheers for contributing so far, good men ITT

I dont know if this helps brother but ive gone through similar thoughts and meditation really helped me. Whenever you have those negative thoughts about the past try and remove yourself from it and remember you only exsist in the now

Good advice thanks m8. I often feel like I'm defined by other peoples perception of me, even though I know it isn't true its hard to detangle yourself from your memories or expectations.

I love that image because it completely destroys the notion of Africa being a barren land, that blacks were oppressed and held back by their resources and nothing more . It shows clearly that hard work and the right attitude can achieve anything. I'd shake that mans hand and tend to his garden if he asked.
Anthony Walker
That's true. If you depend on external conditions to maintain a desirable inner state you're forever at the mercy of what happens around you, and that is ultimately outside of your control. Your inner space belongs to you and you alone, and it's the only thing you're truly in charge of. Thousands of years have gone into developing techniques for managing this space, but it's still ignored in large parts of the world It's sad that so many people regard meditation as some sort of almost mythical witchcraft that only monks practice

it´s a shame that the usual user who visits pol on a regular basis can´t see what some of us see. it´s a shame that i never find the right words to explain my point of view in a manner that everyone can understand. but Sup Forums is evolving and at one point in time everyone is going to see that words matter more then ever. in some time it doesnt matter from which class you came from or from what youre origin is. only the thesis and antithesis will be judged by it´s value. and this is why i love this "schmelztigel"of sane/insane personalities which are populating this board.
maybe you like what i just wrote maybe you don´t. but thats the beauty of this place i don´t fucking care

I recommend reading Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, mastery over mind is very important.

Playing an instrument and learning music affect your brain unlike any other activity.
Learn classical music as a hobby, start an instrument, there are so many virtues that go along with learning music. Music is culture, culture matters.
Lincoln Walker
Why is it that throughout European cultural history, music has always held a place of reverance and importance, especially in the church? Every king was judged on the quality of the musicians he employed and supported.

I'm tired all day everyday Try to work out but I'm just checked out I lost contact with friends so vicious cycle >cantself improve because friends give energy >don't have energy because lack of friends

Also, cooking.
Basically, some form of creative outlet. If man does not have a way to use his creativity, he will suffer daily.
Mason Reed
Lads how tf do you manage to juggle an internship, studies, maintaining a physique, reading, etc? I used to read 2 books a week, work out 5 times in a week but the hectic schedule is cutting into my plans.
