How do I stop video games once and for all, brothers ?

I don't want to be a manchild anymore.
I tried once but the withdrawal symptoms were so powerful

I'm sure some of you did it, please help me. thank you

this is self-improvement

Just play videogames few times a week, you don't have to stop playing completely. And play games that teach you a thing or two such as Total War games, don't play CoD or some other normie games.

Get rid of whatever allows you to live like that. Have a gaming PC? Get a nice laptop instead.

Have a console? Get rid of it.

It sucks but you'll end up doing a lot of other things more worth your time. People will argue games are a better form of entertainment to wind down to since its more mentally stimulating but man with the wrong personality/tendencies, they'll suck your life away.

Play games occasionally if you'd like though. Not everyone has to go cold turkey.

I'm sure your life will be greatly improved by removing things you enjoy from it.

alright, I'll see what I can do

Me too OP.
I switched my PC to Linux and it doesn't support my video card for 3D acceleration so I figured I couldn't play games anymore.
Now I playe Cataclysm-DDA a lot. It's pretty great.

alright, I'll see what I can do

I don't enjoy them anymore. I just keep coming back because there is nothing else for me to do (I must be very interesting person) ; I play for less than an hour and I'm already bored, even new games can't fill this void. Yet, when I'm lucky to do something else, I still think of computer (games, internet, etc.)

Start using that fucking alarm clock feature that your phone has. Clean your room/house, just a little every day, split your work into sections like the big pile of laundry on your floor one day and your closet the next day etc. Write things down, start with the basics like brushing your teeth and taking a shower at a certain time every day, just make a simple schedule for yourself and stick to it.

These are some really basic things you can do to start moving your life in a better direction and they work.

Pleasure is degenerate

Just sell your shit dude. Literally do not worry about getting your money's worth. Put up some CL ads and if those don't bite go to a buy/sell media store, or at worse a pawn shop.

If you really want it out of your life that bad then just cut it out entirely. I dumped my gaming PC last year and just use a very modest laptop now. I thought I'd miss it since I had all sorts of daydreams to make shit in Ableton, Max, etc for music but in the end this very simple set up I have is more than enough for the amateur I am.

I think a lot of anons are going to give up gaming in the next five years. The problem with it isn't that it's inherently juvenile, it's that it asks you to spend an absurd amount of raw time and energy to really dig into it.

There's like two to three games a year that are worth playing. I don't see how you can spend enough time playing them that it becomes an issue.

That is very inspirational, my aryan brother. These words will surely commend all white brothers and sisters all over the world to rise up against their jewish overlords and establish white ethnostates all around the globe.

Lift weights. It's like a video game where the reward is generally feeling better all the time, plus it's easier to get pussy

get a job you lazy fuck

...

Fuck you. Being a manchild is great. Girls are only worth it if they're 9/10 or 10/10, anything else and it's "eh, prolly not even worth it long term".

Raise a family, you won't have time.

pffffft
in 5 years sony and microsoft will reveal that they are selling premade pcs with exclusive hardware and games instead of consoles. and there will likely be android wives by then too.

Get a job where you spend most of your time doing productive things.

I went from spending ~12 hours per day playing games to not at all. Now its 9 hours at work, so there isn't enough time to get heavily involved in games anymore (and I question the value whenever I start getting into one).

Get gf-> get married-> have kids
Handels that being a manchild and playing games both

>12 hours per day playing games to not at all

this is what I need in the end

Genuinely curious. What in this day and age could you possibly spend 12 hours a day playing?

I've never related to an image more before in my life, holy shit. Fuck my shitty sleep schedule.

Work will set you free.

Just make sure you get something that can hold your interest otherwise you'll get bored, which will probably lead to a relapse.

it's more internet than video games, really. you keep switching between both of these things

>showering
GTFO normie

WHO HERE /alwayswakesupat3amwithhorribleheadaches/??

Same. Dont play games all night but instead browse Sup Forums

Drink more water you favela monkey

you idiot just act positively make small changes set goals and follow through start with easily achievable tasks and then work up to your life goals. you think successful people don't get stoned and play vidya?

Mainly Paradox games like EU3, HOI3, etc, and anything that involved building cool stuff (Space Engineers, Kerbals, that sort of thing). There's also Stellaris which I occasionally get into. Also used to play TONS of LoL and Minecraft and other normie shit, which is really bad for that sort of thing.

I get home from work and either go for a run or shitpost on Sup Forums these days. Don't have the time/patience for games during the week

Meh that's fine. You spend just as much time on the internet when you work in an office. Only difference is that you're being paid and get to have the illusion that you're doing something constructive.

Same as anything in life, it is fine in moderation but don't allow it to consume your life. Plenty of people enjoy alcohol for example, but not all are full blown alcoholics.

Find a hobby, get a routine, and stick to it. Get a gym membership and make sure you go 6 days a week. Make a point of being clean and well presented, focus on advancing your career / studies, whatever. Just don't allow vidya to consume your life

>gym membership

alright but where to start once I'm in

Try playing one game only, sell the rest and work on improving yourself through exercise

SS+GOMAD

I don't play online games or console or multiplayer games. I only play strategy games and single player games on pc. I have 45hr a week job I don't see how in that situation you can get "sucked in". The only people I know who let it ruin their lives are faggots who play CoD multiplayer or mmo's

Try dwarf fortress. It's free.

Why stop? You're not out destroying the world when you're inside playing games, right?

I'm destroying MY world

Get a job and go to school at the same time. Then you won't have time to play games.

Why are you sleeping ten hours? You could be lifting the other 3 hours.

it's not my "schedule", it's just the fact that like him, I spend all day on computer

Why do you even care world is shit and everything sucks

elaborate

I kicked the habit. I sold my computer and replaced it with an NUC.

because I'm not of your opinion

please explain how you did it

I've found that giving up video games entirely isn't really a sustainable model, especially if they're something you've enjoyed your whole life. I've found success in simply avoiding the types of games that are really good at consuming your life. No more hardcore RPG's, no more FPS's, etc. They're so successful because they're so immersive. I've had success playing platformers, fighting games, adventure games, anything that gives you many opportunities to step away and take a break, unlike your RPG that always has another quest for you to take up, or your FPS that is about to launch you into another online game to get enough experience to level up. The game variants that I let myself play lend themselves to "Okay, after I finish this level I'm done" kind of mentality. It's not fool proof, but it's worth a shot.

you either destroy the world or you destroy yourself user.

Don't fall for the gym jew. None of the people shilling for it actually go there.

Your problem is simply a lack of routine and time management.

Nigga, i match you image, but i dont even get to play video game anymore. HELL, i wish i had time to play games or watch anime like a normal neet, but Sup Forums sucks up EVERY FUCKING SECOND im awake.

What are you playing may I ask? It must be pretty good game to have drug-like symptoms

Pick up a hobby, it's not hard. I carve and sand down walking sticks and give them to elderly people who want one.

Alright, I'll tell you what the secret is.
It's simple: Get a hobby that requires a lot of focus. Like Drawing, Guitar, etc.

You don't have to completely cut out games, you will notice that they don't hold your attention as much anymore and you'll actually crave to spend time on your other hobbies.

I first admitted to myself I had a problem. And JUST like you I did nothing else but game,. Was drawn to it but didn't enjoy it anymore. I tried a few times to quit by selling my GPU but I just crumbled and bought a new GPU like 2-4 weeks later, I decided I needed to kick it completely so I used the local auction website and sold all my computer shit for 1$ reserve, gaming screen, kB , mobo - everything.

Went and bought a cheap NUC (I kept my SSD) and ram and a shitty screen.
Big thing is to focus on something else. Look for new hobbies. Its not easy but In time it will work.

not a particular game or games, simply the force of habit. I'm on the computer since I'm 6. I'm 24.

This is spot on. Once you find something that you enjoy putting your time into that yields some sort of tangible benefit that you can be proud of, quitting vidya is easy. Playing guitar, learning computer programming, exercise, anything to give you some sense of a return on investment more than your gamer score.

Just start a martial art its cheaper and more fun and you meet cool people. Iiiiiif you haaave to go to a gym, take courses.

As someone with 9k hours spent on Dota 2, it actually makes me kind of sad i cant play anymore. I have a 50 hour a week job and a girlfriend now, but i just cant help but wish sometimes i could wake up at 5pm and play dota for 14 hours every day. Idk why, but i do miss it very much.

get a job, a wife, and have kids.
I play vidja as often as I can get the time and energy...so rarely

A few sets of pullups/pushups every other day will do wonders for your psyche and you don't even have to leave home. The reps don't even have to be high, just whatever you can do. Guaranteed
results.

>get a job, a wife, and have kids.
He wants to get himself out of the whole of video games not get himself in a deeper hole
>I play vidja as often as I can get the time and energy...so rarely
Why the fuck would he want that or even better why the fuck would any sane man want that? getting yourself off of video games to just instead be forced to blow your time working shitty jobs or being with a shitty wife is not worth it.

>He wants to get himself out of the whole of video games not get himself in a deeper hole

well I want a job, wife, and many kids desu.

solid advice.
It's the little things.
Muster the best lies you can on a resume and start taking interviews.
There's no database for liars, if you get caught in a lie in an interview, just yuck it up and go to the next interview.
Lie and say you are an expert at something, go get that job and then become the expert.

dude i have a great job, i kinda enjoy my career and i make a ton of money... my wife is obedient and beautiful, i have a wonderful family. You're the insane one.

>well I want a job, wife, and many kids desu.
I got a job it is okay nothing too special and it is good that i can finally afford video games i want (even thou i don't spend much on them anymore).

However when it comes to a wife and kids that is all a moneypit with no guarantees outside of the promise you will be forced to pay her for the rest of her life.

The aspirations of any sane man.

i sold my pc, now i play piano instead, a little mobile gaming on the smartphone if i need a quick fix and sometimes i play on the old ps3

i used to spend all my free time on gaming, now its like less than a quarter of my time, it's getting better.

dont hesitate to post advice

Have your gaming rig hit by lightning... Worked for me. God speed user... 10 years down the drain.

>10 years down the drain.

I know that feel

Try building things, and try it small time first.
Build yourself a terrace either for yourself or perhaps for someone you know, a friend perhaps.
its relatively easy, and all you need to know is on the internet, foundation can just be cinderblocks and then stretch out some 2x4's then cover them up.
It'll probably only take a few days if you have a some spare time.

there is something about that feeling of taking a good beer while sitting on something you've built.
the feeling that you've earned it, you body pats you on the back and gives you reasons to live.

Modern games went to shit so I started working instead.

get a fucking job

I have quit vidya but the problem is that I replaced them with Sup Forums. For real.

What do I do now?

But user im in my mid 20s now and since my gaming rig took a shit i started doing a little work with my 25 and 35 pound dumbells... Wow what a rush it is to realize that you arent destine to be the scrawny nerd you once were and more of the protagonist you had been playing all along. Chances are if you are in the same boat that i was that you will find yourself getting out at the peak of your physical existence. Im thankful every day i didnt go till i was 30 because now i plan on being /fit/ till im in my 40s. Working out really feels great in a very rpg relateable way. Even the small workouts FEEL like REAL progress. I even started back toward a degree and i can say that i am now one of the most attractive men in my classes now (body wise, still average face/not enough facial hair growth) and always seem to have a young las' eye apon me. You can do it user.

I did It. I was playing around 40-48 h / weekly during my last year studing and realized I should end that degeneracy. First of all I cut all videogames except for 1, and will only play that one game exclusively. After 3-4 months you will start disliking having to play that game. Thats the natural moment your body is telling you of switch to do something else. You must tale advantage at any cost of that moment but first of all you need something else to do, you like more or at least almost playing video games. The answer is you need an objective to fulfill.

In order to acomplish the objective you need to do something so you start doing it when the natural switch tells you "I don't want to play this game anymore" and instead of telling you "lets play another game instead" you change it to "lets do something else instead".

It is an hell of a change so it will take you 6-10 months.

Good Luck

You could try killing youself desu.

But seriously it's already been said in this thread, just find a hobby. I still spend most of my day playing since I enjoy it, but when I'm concentrating on something else I barely think about it. Just don't try too many things at once or you'll burn yourself out.

how about realizing that they are worthless to play ?
i mean seriously when i was playining games online i soon realized that no matter that i do the game belongs to idiots
WT - whole squad dead i sole survivor hiding to preserve my top position till the ened of game
WoT - worthless agressive retards everywhere
WoW - same as above but in here it's more like russian roulette
CS - idiots in team
Lineage 2 - BOTS EVERYWHERE
the list could continue
there are also offline games (strategies like Stronghold in my case) that are good but i soon realized that they are repetative
shooters are big fat joke they are easy not like in the "old days"
so i decided that i'll learn something instead of playning games i started to learn HTML :P
i also started to sort out my porn collection so i can empty my HDD :P

so yeah just realizing that gaming is a waste of fucking time is your priority
also start learning how to cook and start doing simple exercises if you are bored

I'm in my mid twenties too.

Same, theres no scape from this shit

Well luckily for us the state of gaming is somewhere in between SHIT and JUST WAITING FOR VR GREATNESS. You have the next 5 or ten years to "we must secure a future for the white race and glory for our children" or whatever your 14 words are. But in general know that you are on the right path and are taking a big step in bettering yourself. I told alot of people i knew i wouldn't be playing video games with them anymore and that helped me not accepting a used psu and jumping back into the games.

>tfw family ridicules you when you pull out the cable from computer

You don't use Sup Forums nor play vidya because you like it it is because you can't leave it. This means that you are browsing Sup Forums or playing vidya in hope to found what you are lacking of or subconsciently desiring of.

You need to return to your kidself to your origin to remember which path you wanted to take and start working how to get it.

the new cod coming out looks pretty good though. Set in World war 2. None of this halo shit that they been releasing.

Oh shit froggy, I was gonna suggest hunting for game meat, but I DON'T know how it is there. Do give up vidyas though. Fishing, fixing cars, sports club?

Spain with the Freudian psychological assumptions.

Indeed. Total war games actually was a stepping stone for me to research military history and from there history/philosophy and eventually politics. Just don't spend 10+ hours a week on video games. Diversity your hobbies. Take up woodworking or buy a book and learn to work on your car (also YouTube videos).

>You don't use Sup Forums nor play vidya because you like it it is because you can't leave it.
There might be some truth in this, especially for vidya, but I do truly like politics and news. Before I took the redpill I read and watched a ton of main shit media every day.
