This is the best post i've ever seen a Canadian make on this website.

How did you do that?

This is simply not believable, stats can be pushed any way anyone wants.

It probably is not mentioning "non minority" unemployment, while illegals and minorites filled every single job.

Expect that from Seattle.

kek

...

The problem is not minimum wage. It is the inflation in the cost of living. You'd be able to live just fine off of 1cent an hour if the cost of living was low enough.

That said, I agree with raising minimum wage in most cases. The value of unskilled labour has remained the same while the value of the dollar you are paid in has gone down. If anything the minimum wage is the same now as it was a century ago.

Democrats are always right, there are no exceptions.

all the kikes that infest this board want to make sure you don't get properly paid for your work user. That's why the minimum wage doesn't keep up with the freight train pace of dollar inflation.

HOY SHIT HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN TO SEATTLE IS A BUM PARADISE I WAS THERE FOR THREE DAYS AND WAS OFFERED A GUN TWICE AND A KNIFE ONCE FROM THEIR FUCKING ZOMBIE HORDES LOCATED ON EVERY STREET

fpbp

Unemployment rates imply the percentage of people actually looking for a job. It just means the bums that get interviewed don't care anymore

>why care when you can just get high on legal weed... LMAO
> :^)

So from 86% of workforce in October 2016 to a decline to 76% of the workforce employed today. And a 3.7% non farm unemployment rate. Not to mention the hospitality industry literally crashining.

>twitter as source
>no methodology on what Unemployment here means

Mexican Uncle Tom

I wish I could find disparaged workers in Seattle but with minimal effort, I could not.
However I did find that Washington Labor Force Participation rate was 63.4% which is slightly higher than the nation average of 62.8%.

How many people are participating in the labor force?
What counts as employment? Part-time, flex, seasonal, so on?
Does Seattle count only Seattle and not its other districts?
How many dropped out of the labor force?

>fpbp
>dubs
I might have to rethink my feelings about leaves

can't be real, must be manipulated stats.

communism has 0% unemployment

because everyone gave up looking and left the state.

>government forces small businesses to pay their workers more
>they magically begin hiring more people with all that extra money they don't have

Nope, doesn't check out.

For the whole state:
441,386 people are in the labor force as of feburary and has increased since then.

All work is employment.

I believe it would just be Seattle.

Labor force participation has raised over the last 4 years but I can not find numbers for disparaged workers.

Labor force has increased at rate of 4,000/month since 2010 for the whole state. Not sure about Seattle specifically.

Everyone just moved away because the prices jacked to high?

If they pass the cost to the clients (plus a bit more of course) then it does.

...

>rent cost in seattle

Drugs and alcohol are the reasons for unemployment, and herpes

This as well as poorer families can now afford more product increasing demand.

That's not the same. FAILURE!

What is it you don't understand about waste? All of those superflous people geting more abstract currency to spend on the then artificially inflated prices...

I understand fully, but if the dead weight loss raises the median well being then it's probably worth it.

See It's actually multiple characters, I think you press alt and some numpad buttons. I just copy/pasted his text.

>reality disagrees with me, therefor reality is wrong

Do you even triforce, Bro?

US Labor Department statistics for March 2017 give the Seattle area's unemployment rate at 3.7%. Rate for the Seattle metro area according to the Seattle Times is 5.5%

2.8% my ass.

alt+255 doesn't work though. You'll have to find another way.
Cheater!

Unemployment rates only count those looking for a job who can't find them. Not people who aren't looking. Additionally many of the people with jobs also live on the streets because they can't afford a place to live. There are literal hoovervilles is Washington state nesr Seattle.

>The value of unskilled labor has remained the same

wrong.jpeg

Globalization saw to that. There isn't an unskilled job that a mexican, chinese, or thai can't do for cheaper and better.

Only Sup Forums level 2 users can see this

We should really do this more often, it would keep the newfags away when they don't know what's being discussed

...

Should have been 0% thanks to min wage its 2.8 good fucking job

>free healthcare is literally slavery
why are republicans so retarted?

Seattle's minimum wage hasn't hit $15/hr yet except for schedule one (firms with 500+ employed) employers that provide employmeny without medical benefits (so very few). Small businesses won't face $15 an hour until 2019 or 2021 depending on their schedule.

Further, tbe decline in unemployment has mostly been due to tech workers and regained strength at Microsoft, employers who give 0 fucks about the minimum eage. Once controlled for, you see that an increase in minimum wage does cause reduced employment.

Source: Report on the Impact of Seattle's Mimimum Wage Ordinance on Wages, Workers, Jobs and Establishments through 2015, Seattle Minimum Wage Study Team

Fun game: look at reporting on this paper, and count how many outlets ignore the econometrics and controlling and just report "NO EMPLOYMENT DECREASE DURR DURR RAISE WAGES!" Its funny and sad at the same time.

retarded analogy, that's just how insurance works

you know, like car insurance, house insurance, all that is funded by other people, the money doesn't just appear magically

3.7% is the unemployment rate of Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, WA. Seattle city itself is 2.8%

forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2017/04/05/seattles-2-9-unemployment-rate-tells-us-nothing-about-the-effects-of-seattles-minimum-wage-rise/#6b30cc2268b8

This article is about a month old but i closed the tab with the 2.8% number...oops.

Socialism by other means. Since they can't reappropriate the means of production themselves they instead try to reappropriate the profits there of. Half of Americans pay no federal taxes. 20% actually get negative taxes through government programs. The top 1% of the country pays 29% of the taxes. Tell me again why this lower 50% deserves even more money from the other.

1 city

forcing everyone to buy insurance so that ostensibly uninsurable people can get it is not a sound policy.

and the number on food stamps ten years ago?
and the number on food stamps now?

because the people in power believe in "surplus theft" while not believing inflation is theft. someday they will learn

Here's the problem with statistics like these, and it's a problem for both sides of the minimum wage argument: you have more than one independent variable. Other stuff changes along with the minimum wage, like how well the economy happens to be doing at the moment, so you really have a hard time measuring the effect of /just/ the minimum wage change.

You are too young to remember this, but car insurance use to be optional too.
And, surprise surprise, it was cheaper too. Imagine that.

>The racial makeup of the city in 2004 is 67.1% Caucasian, 16.6% Asian, 8.4% of African origin,
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Seattle

HMMMMMMMMMMM

But I'm pretty sure it was like that before the minimum wage change too.

Interesting. Let's see what happens when it hits small business

Nice, so it isn't even really $15 minimum yet. We haven't seen the consequences yet.

>Sup Forums told me minimum wage is bad

Because half of the people here are buttboys for (((corporations))) for some reason.

They also like to pretend that small businesses are employing tons of minimum wage workers.

>Min wage rises
>Poor people move out of Seattle as it gets more expensive to live there
>People go NEET and drop out of the labor pool if they can't find a job
>Unemployment drops

Maybe when Based Bill was running the show.

Democrats are as cucked as Republicans now.

Good questions and I give up finding accurate information. This picture is from 2013. 14.5% was nations average at the time.
Labor force size and participation rate both increased.

>we could of prevented this.
I'm just joking, the system is rigged.

឴ ឴ ឴

$15 in seattle is barely over homeless tier though....

Also...the unemployment rate is so low due to the tech companies not fast food jobs. Fuck man theres hardly any fast food out here to begin with...

>using the 11th wealthiest metropolitan area in the US as a argument for a system you want to impose on all of America

Lol@ all the newfags who can't speak esperanto. Good post leafbro

Guarantee most food service employees will work harder than whatever the fuck shit job it is that you think you're so superior for having.

...

Ooops. I mistaken the increase in labor force with increase in labor force rate.

It is. The unemployment rate would be even lower without it. Try raising the minimum wage to $100 an hour and see it it doesn't make anyone unemployed

Seatlle

i thought the PNW had no niggers, isn't there a movement to create a white-ethnostate there?

15 $ minimum wage?

Automated check-outs and robotic burger flippers incoming.

"The racial makeup of the city in 2004 is 67.1% Caucasian, 16.6% Asian, 8.4% of African origin, 1.0% Native American, 0.9% Pacific Islander, 2.3% from other races, and 3.4% from two or more races. 6.3% of the population is Hispanic or Latino of any race."

It's mostly asians and whites

...

Lol no, the whole Cascadia thing is more of a cultural thing cause that's where all the leftist hippies are. Furthest thing from an "white ethnostate". It will never happen anyways

Do poll, classify beggars as working.

zerohedge.com/news/2017-04-18/harvard-shock-study-each-1-minimum-wage-hike-causes-4-10-increase-restaurant-failure

"....the overall body of recent evidence suggests that the most credible conclusion is a higher minimum wage results in some job loss for the least-skilled workers—with possibly larger adverse effects than earlier research suggested.

As Reuters reports, an online petition accusing Starbucks of "extreme" cutbacks in work hours at its U.S. cafes, hurting both employee morale and customer service, has been signed by more than 9,000 people. Suddenly Starbucks' eagerness to raise its wages becomes all too clear: after all, it would merely have to reduce work hours, to keep profitability humming.

The world's biggest coffee chain, trying to address cooling growth at its U.S. shops, recently introduced technology that allows customers to order and pay from mobile devices. That service aims to boost sales and reduce bottlenecks in stores; it also aims to reduce work hours.

In short: Starbucks is finding itself in a sales and profit squeeze (its shares have gone nowhere for the past year), and having been such a fervent supporter of minimum wage hikes, is now far less willing to "share" its success as a company, especially if it means a stagnant stock price for the foreseeable future...."

zerohedge.com/news/2016-08-23/something-unexpected-happened-when-seattle-raised-minimum-wage

Does this number include the thousands of junkies/street people?

Where i live average wage is much lower than the us minimum wage they complain about and we have the fastest dropping unemployment rates in the eu

The way our company is combating the increase in minimum wage is installing more robots, automating the factory and firing 50% of our workforce.

suck my ass.

Of course not. They don't have residences, so they don't count in the official statistics. The tens of thousands of people living in doorways and tents around Seattle are all conveniently excluded.
