Using breathing to heat the core is pretty easy, lad

take up survival skills. Every year I go way out in the woods up in Northern BC for two weeks or so, I bring a tent, a couple metal tools, and I live natural, hunt or gather all my food, purify my water, build my fires, its such a calming experience compared to living in the city.

Also take up some combat sports. I used to exclusively lift weights but about 5 years started boxing, and 1.5 years started jiu jitsu, I'm not an expert but it makes a world of difference when you're trained and enter a physical conflict against an untrained person.

Make sure to keep your cardio up as well, if it ever came to combat/race war cardio would likely be a much bigger advantage and life saver rather than being slightly stronger.

I was more leaning toward the mircofissures thing but I could easily imagine this would be a thing they'd do in the dead of winter.
