Overseas Chinese usually hate Mainland Chinese because for example, I've heard notorious things about the housing prices there. Aside from that though, race relations between whites / Asians in BC are actually quite good. It's worth noting that by 1900 the Chinese population in BC was 12% or so (Chinese specifically, I don't remember the numbers for Japanese) so they have had a long time to integrate into the society and social fabric here.
Half of my office, for instance, is asian. Most of them grew up here, speak perfect English, and play on the hockey team, etc. Just like everyone else...
