No. Strawman alert. Nobody is arguing that getting rid of guns *causes* tyranny; nobody. However 2nd Amendment advocates are aware of the ever *possible threat* of tyranny, which has happened countless times through history, and is always preceded by the disarmament of the public at large.

The U.S. will never see guns the same way anyone else in the world does. The U.S. sees them as a part of our cultural identity -- even the most radically left progs can accept that the 2nd Amendment has shaped the identity of the country, they just want to change it.
Gun control works in countries that accept collectivist rule. It's the antithesis of freedom in individualist mentalities. Taking away our CHOICE to have guns is taking away our CAPACITY to protect our freedom, regardless of how entirely unlikely the need is.
