Nope. These things come and go in cycles. There's a breakthrough, a trend emerges but then they retreat slightly again until another spike happens.

The mid-to-late 00s had an electoral breakthrough for the far right across Europe when the PVV in the Netherlands had decent results, the German NPD got into state parliaments and Britain’s BNP won two MEPs and local election seats over here. It wasn't a major breakthrough but it had a significant effect on the system and broke the forced silence over immigration and multiculturalism as a no-go topic mainstream parties refused to talk about.

Eventually this tide of populism will go out but another will come. If it follows trends it'll go even further than this one did with significant breakthroughs and several electoral victories. It's been less radical with each wave, but much more successful. I suspect all the panicking about fake news, censorship and trying to control information is coming from looking ahead and knowing they might have just held the line from total collapse this time, but next time we'll win a total victory.
