Would a clone army be more or less ethical than employing your own people as soldiers?

Would a clone army be more or less ethical than employing your own people as soldiers?

Clones of whom? Are these clones fully functional as sapient beings or are they handicapped in some fashion?

Less, i imagine

Why don't you just conscript every black man? You've seen Planet of the Apes, it'll be unstoppable

No because you're literally depriving each clone of its rights by forcibly conspcripting them. It would be like choosing each child's job and role when they were born.

Less because you are essentially creating a slave caste that has one purpose and that is war.

It would be far more ethical to use machines rather then men.

A clone army is essentially an army of slaves.

It's on the same ethical level as the Ottoman Empire. You really can't get much worse than that short of kidnapping children and forcing them to fight like an African warlord.

Clone armies assume you're going to take casualties. Just professionally train an army proportional to the amount of land you need to protect.

In fairness, Janissaries were well treated and held political power within the Ottoman Empire. Still doesn't justify forcibly capturing children, indoctrinating them with Islam and having them fight for the Caliphate.

Droids are more efficient.
ROGER ROGER

dis
if ameri-chan would have read up even a lil, he'd see that they regretted creating them.

It would save tons of money and actually be a boon to all economies if we did this though

like india?

Lets take star wars as an example and say the clones are of a great soldier with honed reflexes. They are sapient beings, but they HAVE to obey orders and pledge absolute loyalty to the senate and the executive branch. If they do disobey and order, they are considered dysfunctional and terminated

Clones are born to fight and serve. They age twice as fast and they are cloned from a person with great genetics (AKA Jango Fett a bounty hunter).

Armies in general are a lag on the economy, the research associated with them may not be however.
The caste system is a meme at this point in India, and they never did something so specific as literally deciding your specific occupation from birth, at least en masse.

good for them
it's a step to being civilised

As long as they watched those wrist rockets and were treated like humans.

Less, you're creating a slave class whose purpose is that they can die without generating domestic political problems.

Clones are fully human.

All comic relief aside, i never understood how the droids lost. They are mass producible. Dont feel fear or pain. Autoamated targeting = 100% accuracy. Hivemind battletactics. Built in shield options. Whatsup with that.

More ethical. Less societal disruptions.

Why would original and reduplicated flesh be worth more or less?

Are we not reduplication of our parents' genes' and so on and so forth?

Slipppery slope nigga

Only if you breed them with some built in safety mechanism. Otherwise they will for sure turn on you at some point, thats like slaveholding 101. And if they are the entire army you're defenseless.

lack of situational adaptability, worsening quality as the war progressed, lack of comprehensive leadership structure

The good robots were very expensive and the Roger-Roger ones were shit.

In this case it would be less ethical as you are forcing them to incur risk to their life. Although these clones do not have free will it is plausible to assume that at least some of them would not make the decision to fight on your behalf if they did.

In this case the ethics of the situation don't change. You've simply created more candidates for your army.

as and the clones in the show argued that they are men, not unthinking machines. That they must be trusted to make decisions on their own, in the heat of battle.

What are you going to do with a clone army after the war has finished?
Sure, you could keep some as a standing army, but many millions would have to be relieved of duty for budget reasons. Millions of unemployed men bred to kill and in need of a job would be fantastic for criminal organizations.
Not to mention how letting them all off would bring a large amount of genetically identical persons into the genepool- I know there are a fuckton of people but millions of people with the same genotype could potentially lead to inbreeding and alabama-tier relationships.

>war ever finishes
But in all seriousness. The clones are probably bred to age faster than humans. So 15 years after the war theyd be dead. Still leaves those 15 though.

Guess you could clone a guy with terminal cancer so they all die within a few months.

Says the gypsy

Many clones that didn't stay loyal to the Empire ended up becoming rebel fighters or bounty hunters, some even assassins
So that is problematic, just keep the war going forever.
