One of the mandatory tests you have to do in the bundeswehr is write an essay on "relevant political topic" (always multiculturalism or some left-wing buzzword). Teams of political officers and psychologists then analyze them to see if you are fit for service.

German Basic Law prohibits using military for civilian duties (helping the police for example) inside the borders of the Federal Republic.
