Don't know if it's accurate, but from what I've read, before Comey's press conference in which he declined to prosecute Hillary, Comey was told that the Dept of Justice would *not* support an FBI recommendation to prosecute Hillary.
And that's why Comey did what he did -- that strange press conference which laid down a *lot* of damaging info about Hillary.
The Rosenstein memo that has gotten Comey fires lists that press conference as the main reason for firing Comey.
Now, I don't trust Comey, and he seems like a weasel to me.
BUT THAT PRESS CONFERENCE WAS CRUCIAL TO GETTING TRUMP ELECTED.
I know it was against all FBI protocol - as Rosenstein explains - but if Comey was really looking at the DoJ stonewalling a Hillary prosecution (which is the only thing that remotely makes sense of his otherwise inexplicable press conference), THEN I THINK COMEY DID THE RIGHT THING, even if it was technically the wrong thing.
He apparently did what he did because he was working in a corrupt system. And his actions put the brakes on that corruption, at least to the extent that he contributed in a substantive way in stopping Hillary from getting elected.
So, while I still have very mixed feelings about the guy, and don't really trust him, based on what I know at present -- GOOD ON COMEY.
He did the right thing by ripping Hillary at the press conference, even if it ultimately ended up getting him fired (which it did).
