I've fallen for the meme. I've sacrificed the past 5 years of my life to become a doctor in this publicly funded bullshit known as the NHS,

To update, I don't get paid for any of these extra hours that I'd work. This is all literally due to gaps in the Rota which force me to either leave and let patient care suffer, or not leave and let my own personal life suffer. Doesn't really give me much choice. Fuck the NHS.

Please explain how someone cashing groceries (whatever that means) earns more than a first year medical doctor

As a Junior Doctor in an understaffed health service, we are required (unofficially) to work much longer hours than we are paid for.

If we are on schedule to work 48 hours in a week, we actually end up working about 60 hours due to severe lack of staff. Its not the kind of job you can just get up and go, patient care suffers and if you hand over your day-time jobs to the night-team you'd be royally fucked over by your colleagues who won't support you otherwise.

If we do work extra hours, we are entitled to fill in a form to get those extra hours paid. Not only is it looked down by management staff as you're a doctor "not willing to work hard enough", these forms often take 30-45 minutes to fill in. Each. Day.
Often people rather forego filling them in simply because the time isn't worth it, especially when you get such free little time to work with in the first place.

I'm not a medical doctor, but I suspect young doctors here in the states would treat a 60-hour work week like it's a vacation. You certainly deserve to be paid for your time though. But 60 hours here, especially for doctors, just doesn't sound outrageous.

Cmon my fellow brits, how can we actually fix the glorious NHS?

Having worked in the USA, there exists a very odd culture in which doing nothing in particular for hours but being visibly worried about it counts as working.

Looking as if you have worked hard seems to be 90 percent of it. I got more done in less time than any American peer, purely because I used my time better.

Oh no by all means, I understand the working hours of doctors over in America work much longer hours.
After all, you guys don't have to deal with the European Working Time Directive.... and also get paid a shitload more.
Id be happy to be working those kind of hours the my friends across the pond do..... as long as they pay me that much, Without Junior Doctors, a hospital can't and wont function, but yet they cut our pay with the most recent wage agreement.

you'll spend the last 50 years of your life playing golf, you selfish fuck. You took an oath, man, now help those fat bastards 'get well' already.

>north east

Scotland or England

>doctor
>cashiers make more money
huh?

You should write your woes on a whiteboard and look solemly into a camera with your NHS apparel in full view.

You fucking quim

Hourly rate. He's lying, but it isn't far off.

You just accurately described 75% of American workers, regardless of their class or occupation. It seems like in most organizations a tiny minority does the vast majority of the work while the rest fiddle around. I personally prefer to stay busy rather than spend energy looking busy

>People who work cashing groceries in Tesco earn a higher hourly wage than me

What the fuck?

If they're super fat and show no willingness or capacity for losing weight you need to be their Angel of Mercy.

Set them free from their dying bodies.

North East England>

>125009892
Thats the thing my fellow britbong, we will not get the same provisions that the people before us have.
For us there will be no golf on on a Friday. There'd be nothing other than 8-4 work during the week then 7-7 shifts over the weekend as all part of the plan for the 7 day NHS.

You only truly get that luxury after working in that shithole soul sucking system for 10-15 years. And that's after 5 years of medical education.

I'm going to drop out once I'm fully registered with the GMC and seek more lucrative career options that I'd be able to spend time with my wife and future kids when those fuckers come around.

>Trainee doctors currently have a starting salary of £22,636 - at Foundation Year 1 (F1) - rising with experience to reach £30,000 within four years.

It's like being a teacher here but no summer break.

Then why did you say UK? None of england is north

Did you become a quack to help people? Or just for the shekels? If it's the latter just kill yourself.

Your own fault for going into the profession for money and prestige. Not everyone is cut out to be a doctor. Idiots like you that go into the profession for the wrong reasons are weeded out quickly.

Bit exuberant, but if you think about those Waitrose hourly rates......

Pretty sure most people jobs aren't like this. Everyone knows that if you don't pull your weight, it goes onto your colleagues who are the people who will never do a single favour for you.
They're competent FY1s and incompetent
ones. But at least they can all contribute on a minimal level.

Haven't seen anything to say that I'm wrong yet (not even quoting my numbers quoting BMA references) but even if I'm close then my point still stands.

Thats bullshit. Highly specialised work with people literally in care of your grandma deserve to be paid much better.

Work at Tesco

Well, go cash groceries at Tesco then.

You could move to Florida and start writing painkiller prescriptions. What's the worst they'd do to you? Deport you like a Mexican?

Young UK doctors earn less than £30,000? If that's true, how the fuck do you attract talent? Perhaps tesco is more lucrative

This my friend. This is literally what I'm planning on doing. Get fully registered with the GMC then fuck off to a more lucrative career where I have much less to put up with.

Ah, so you were a wanker that went into the profession for money and prestige. No real loss.

And BTW, that 30,000 figure is nothing close to the average. Most people earn 23-24k per year in north east UK (Newcastle)

>It seems like in most organizations a tiny minority does the vast majority of the work while the rest fiddle around.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle

I have a feeling this is leading up to importing cheap doctors from India or something.

Doctors are some of the highest earners in this country.
If he actually stuck with the job, he'd be making 50 - 100k easily for the majority of his career. He's an idiot that fell for the prestige meme. Plenty of them. We even have a meme for them.

These informative treats are the reason I enjoy coming here. Thanks

Go lift bin bags from 9-5 for 1 day and see how much u hate ur job the.

I work just outside Newcastle as a data analyst that they trained me for free and make more than a junior doctor? kek

Oh fuck off m8, this cunt went through 5+ years of medical school only to realize he's going to be working 60-70 hours a week for the rest of his life while earning less than the average uk wage.
Everyone would be pissed about that if they were in that situation.

We know that before studying and doing the job, moron.

Answer:
Step 1: Move to the States and work.
Step 2: Get rich.
Step 3: Repeat.

This. By 2020 NHS wants 100% of doctors to have been educated in India or Pakistan. This will save the taxpayer untold Stirling.

You can't just move to the u.s. and be a doctor if you were trained here. It's a long process.

Yeah sure, no real loss. Just take a minute into how many junior doctors are leaving there posts to work in much better circumstanced such as in Australia? At least I'm staying (for now). I'm just acknowledging a shitty situation for what it is : shitty.

This exactly. To cover the many English trained doctors who actually know what the fuck to do, we oursource doctors to agencies and get shitloads of foreign doctors who LITERALLY have not a clue how to work in a system like ours.

And, btw, those locum doctors who take in the shifts to cover for my colleagues, know less than me and get paid at least 33%-55% more.

The system is fucked.

It's not uncommon for young profeyto work 60-70 a week as they establish their career.

If you don't like it, pack your bags and open a rural clinic in Cambodia. You will then live life.

Glad to know that you did. I wasn't aware. Got accepted to to dentistry as well as medicine.

Parents sold me the medicine meme instead.
"You've always wanted to help people, youve always wanted to make a difference".

Now am fuckin trapped and won't be doing either of those.

Why pay for a health service that treats foreigners for free? Builds whole villages full of mental health patients, many of whom are foreign nationals, doctors and patients. When will we stop paying for their (((psychological))) care? What is point? Free tummy tucks for fatties? Free birth care for foreign invaders? Of course it isn't free, some firms have sweet monopolies on NHS gibs. STOP THE MADNESS!

Canada is in bad need of doctors (and ayyyy weed lmao) so you could consider immigration to CanCuckistan if you so pleased. Toronto and Vancouver are super expensive but if your career and quals transfer then you could find a probably alright job as a doctor in a smaller town then the major cities.

You could also consider the military. I'm biomedical electronics tech in the CAF and I'm pretty happy, most of our docs seem pretty happy too. 25 days of leave per year are pretty fucking awesome. Also you'll make mad dosh going on deployment.

Even here it's hard to find an American doctor.

In Vegas an Indian doctor was reusing needles to save money and gave a bunch of old people Hep C

Sure you can. Poos do it all the time

Privatise it

>. Not only is it looked down by management staff as you're a doctor "not willing to work hard enough", these forms often take 30-45 minutes to fill in. Each. Day.
Often people rather forego filling them in simply because the time isn't worth it

This isnt a policy issue its a personal issue.

By all means, boot them the fuck out I don't care they are my worst patients fuck those guys.

I have no sympathy. I'm tired of parents bringing up little shits whilst being so wilfully clueless about how cucked things are.

All we hear from these fucking morons is errrrrr gotta throw money at education. Why so we can put some poor cunt in the NHS as a doctor so he can fix up disgusting shitskins, fat fucks, and boomer scum.

Go private ASAP. Poof.

join the military medical service or MSF

Christ what a fag.

Wish I could, not that easy to get private until you wade through years of NHS mud to become specialised and then you're worth something and can get a private job.

Move to America

Mate, what were you doing? Did nobody tell you about the realities beyond the memes? Did you not look into it?
I'm sorry, but I find it hard to sympathise with the people that fell for the prestige and money meme. You have potentially taken the place of someone genuinely interested in the profession beyond the superficial memes.

cant you just immigrate to another country and make more money?

or just be a real hardass to your patients, if you get any fat fucks in there tell them to sort themselves out an shit

I plan on dying in my own bed like they did in the old days. Modern medicine will bankrupt you then kill you

You're a man now and it's time for you to make your own decisions. Best of luck to you anyway. And apologies for being overly harsh. I'm grumpy today.

No more free dick chop either. End psychological services on the NHS. Fuck peoples feelings. If you still have 'em you haven't been paying attention. And kick the malingerer off the ward.

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle
Interesting.

>tfw fat bastard is thinner then most of them

Don't worry UK doctor, soon you will be relieved of your work problems.

You see that's the thing. I'm partially on the meme. I don't mind helping patients and serving the general population (even though 85% of them are lard asses that are a drain).

My problem lies where the expectations of me are way out of what my contract stipulated. Where they have no interest in filling obvious rota gaps and increase Junior Doctor workload without having any contingency plans.

I searched high and low for an argument, alas I did not find one.

How much you getting paid?

My favourite Brit accent is the West country accent. But does it actually have a name?

>Fuck peoples feelings. If you still have 'em you haven't been paying attention.

This is my new phrase for the week. Thanks m8

wtf OP how dare you insult plus sized individuals?

It's YOUR job to care for these people. I swear to fucking God if you've ever said any such bullshit about them "losing weight" or "exercising" in order to lessen the strain on the NHS then I'm going to have to ask you to check your fucking privilege right the fuck now.

We all know it's actually the fucking fascist Tories fault the NHS is failing. It's nothing to do with fucking body positive plus sized people constantly and permanently draining the service in every single aspect. Don't you fucking realise if we all just vote Corbyn he has the power to install a socialist utopia wherein people like you would get an extra hour off every week? Fucking idiot, bet you still vote Tory though.

Just be a GP, sit in a room, hand out antibiotics to retards. That looks pretty easy.

I think you get about 180k for that here. Not bad. Job for life pretty much.

As a person who has been on a waiting list to get a family doctor within a 100km radius since October in order to get referenced for a cancer screening at the hospital because my brother developed it, I agree.

Ours is shit too however, taxes through the roof & a collapsing health system depending on where you move (New Brunswick is almost at the breaking point & it hasn't even hit the fan). But you'd make over six figures as a full physician am pretty sure.

Keep in mind that not all hospitals are equal. You'd be surprised in the variation in competency between two hospitals within a few miles of each other. You can always stick it out and then find another. Or drop hospitals all together. The first few years are supposed to be rough mate. Everyone wants to know whether you've got the metal.

Nah m8, you have to have completed a US based residency program to practice in the US. Same goes for dentists.

Otherwise we'd have every pooinloo and chink with medical credentials in the world coming here to set up shop. Being a physician in the US was, up until a few years ago, GOD TIER. Insurance companies and the student loan jew is turning it bad now though. Anyone who isn't getting a guaranteed residency spot and their school paid for in full by the military is fucking up desu

t. dentalfag

>tfw you never had feeling to begin with

Move to 'murica and get paid more, I guess.
I'm a software engineer and I'm in the same boat.
I get barely paid 30% more than a generic factory worker, and despite looking around it seems that all the other companies pay about the same.
I'm seriously considering emigrating to (((germany))), the UK or Ireland.

the socialism meme never fails to deliver

Haha fatarse brits!

Yeah it's called the West Country accent

What's A&E like, OP? Also why don't they call it "casualty" any more?

Ok then. Wasn't sure if there was some other name.

I've got experience in James Cook. Sunderland Royal Hospital, Royal Victorian Infirmary (Newcastle) and the Freeman Hospital.

The hospitals are great, but the staff availability is horrendous.

I've got colleagues working in the NSEC hospital in Cramlington who are fresh out of med school and literally have no senior staff on site at night. Attending crash calls by themselves, making senior decisions by themselves.
Its all fucked.

>It is noteworthy that India provides the largest number of International Medical Graduates to the US in absolute numbers. With 59,523 physicians of Indian origin

>What's A&E like, OP?
It's an absolute hell.
Especially if you work in a lower class area. You'll see arguments for eugenics personified on a daily basis.

>he became a physician in a country that has socialized medicine

Is it mostly shit like people who hurt themselves or get in to fights while they're pissed out of their skulls.

Or is it even worse...
The brown kid who has the sniffles which means his entire extended family goes there with him?

It's pretty normal for junior doctors to get cold feet. It really is. Ask any of the seniors, if they're honest, they'll tell you about it. Do you have anyone you can confide in about your doubts and concerns? I mean senior staff. They are there to mentor and provide support.

A&E is absolutely fucking awful. From the heroin addict who was found unconcious outside the hospital who receives treatment (Naloxone, they feel fine for about 10 minutes before the dose wears off) who thinks they can just storm out and leave (inb4 he collapses and smashes his head into an ECG machine (EKG for you amerifucks) and then blames us).
Not to mention that when the patients are actually unwell beds are impossibly difficult to find for them to go to on ward.
Now add to that the hypochondriacs who come in for absolutely no justifiable reason and you've just got yourself a shitty fucking job.

As a Junior doctor id be sorting through all of that shit but never getting to be part of the interesting stuff. Which is fair enough, of course.

This guy summarises it perfectly.

Follow in this man's footsteps.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kevorkian

You ought to change professions (teach or something) or move to another country and complete a certification. There is no reason to be a doctor in the UK unless you're selfless angel who wants to serve his country.

It must take a special kind of person to become a doctor and stick with it.

Those are great fuckin hours.

Oh I forgot you eurofagshits only like to work like 10 hours a week.

I don't work in a&e, but I did my time in a hospital near the city centre. It depends on the day of the week. But yes, what you've mentioned is part of the experience. This country has a serious drinking problem.

Guess you haven't read the part where we are paid much less than the hours we actually work.

>This country has a serious drinking problem.

I can't possibly think of any reason why

City centre of Manchester*

Kill the fatties and wait for the patients family to sue the hospital. All of a sudden you get laid off and you get to work somewhere else. I mean, if you kill a fattie, you shouldn't feel ashamed since they've already thrown their life away being fat.

Alright lads, OP here, thanks for the chat.
It's bedtime now.

Your situation isn't better than here. Residents get paid only about 60k but have 100's of thousands of dollars in student loans

Yes American, because having somewhat better healthcare means socialized and USA private doctors don't treat fat people, when Soros and Rockefeller are fat.

Same here.
Talk to someone mate.
