>mfw dumb idiot leftists all flood colleges making a surplus in their given fields(comp sci, liberal arts, etc) and getting shit loads of debt in the 4 year process
>mfw im going to trade school next month for only $687 to learn welding and it'll only take 12 weeks to complete it, and after i get done i'll get an entry level job making $16-$22 an hour
>mfw while im making bank, leftists are going to be living with their parents starving for money.
feels good mang.

>$16-$22 an hour
Kek, i make that now serving tables. Plus free booze and food.

but I'm going to make it by just melting fucking metal together. that's awesome to me. I don't have to fuck with chuckle heads. i'll just be sitting in a hot ass sweatshop all day melting shit. this is amazing.

thats starting pay, you've already peaked in salary though. That's the difference. Also, once your good at welding, you can branch off to any number of self owned businesses where skys sort of the limit.

I was a welder for some Minnesota gas pipe projects. It's good money, but it's cold af and theres nothing to do other than drinking and committing misdemeanor crimes that won't get you fired. although working on oil pipes isn't really "entry level".

Getting sponsored to be in college feelsgoodman

Good luck trying to raise a family and buying a house making $38,000 a year.

you are trying to hard to troll

Lol. with overtime you could easily net double.

If you get certified for pipe welding you can make six figures reliably

That just sounds like my ideal job though honestly. I want a boring job that I can make shit loads of money doing. Welding is the ideal job.

I don't want a family. Women are massive sluts and are just trouble. I don't want marriage. My genes are fucked up and I can't make children either. No thanks. All the females in my life I've known have been fucking idiots and annoying. I am content with just using my hand or a prostitute.

Also echoing what thisg uy said

Caps? Is that a new government program?

>comp sci
>surplus from American colleges
You're a retard. The surplus comes from India. I got hired straight out of college making 60k working probably an average of 7 hours a day. I recently got laid off because they decided they're going to just expand the pajeet operation to save money.

can confirm, melting metal is neat

hope it works out for you bro
a MAN'S job
not some pussy leftist education with student loan dept bullshit

Welding is fucking cool

I'm a painter and I feel like a fucking faggot in front of real men who weld, pour concrete or hammer nails.

You're on the right track - learn a trade. You're looking at lifetime job security.

Couple things - no matter how good you get at core skills, you need to be better at safe work practices doing your job, and you have to work for employers who get workplace safety. And you need to keep healthy yourself.

I work around tradespeople with high school diplomas or GEDs who make a hell of a lot more than my English degree ever did or will earn me. One thing I have that they don't have though is good health. That work is hard on the body. Workplace exposure, injuries and unhealthy living outside of work really, really take a toll on people in blue collar occupations. It's up to you to protect yourself from that.

yeah good job bragging about getting into a field that's going to be fully automated in 15~ years

t. former CWB welder, currently work in software and comp vision

That sucks dude. The same exact thing happened to my cousin just recently, now he's out looking for a new job. I wish you luck in the future, losing your job can be tough.

This is clearly productio level welding with MIG. Any idiot can do that. What OP needs to eventually get into, is TIG welding SS. That's where the money is

>hammer nails
Fuck carpenters. Those pricks leave their fucking nails eveywhere because they just assume we'll cover it all up while we backfill, and then surprise surprise the nails end up in my tires.

im really excited.
im going to be doing TIG welding or MIG welding. Im interested in trying out some stick though.

I'm just nervous because I have no drivers license, job, or money. im a shut in retard, but i worked my fucking ass off educating myself to get a GED.

i dropped out of middle school because i was a dumbass, and i was always told by teachers i had a math disability, but i just needed sufficient motivation.

i managed to go from not knowing division, to being able to do basic trig and calc in just 3 months. got my GED with honors. mother couldnt be more proud.

my older brother is a NEET 25 year old that smokes weed all fucking day and acts like a dick. im determined to make my mother have a son she's proud of.

but on the subject of a car, im afraid im going to get a good job welding but have no way to get to it. i guess i'll just work in a store or something and save up cash.

yep. a respectable trade.
its funny because i was going to go to college for programming, and i fit the bill as a programmer, im a white skinny 150 pound bipolar type but i decided against it.

delusional blue collar slave

>16-22
>""""""Bank""""""

When blue collar jobs are automated in your mind do you see the government of Canada simply allowing ex blue collar workers to languish in the streets? Either way it's fine until that particular social disruption.

A friend from high school became an underwater welder and he now makes 95 per hour.

Welding sucks ass nigger. You're gonna hate it. I know this because you got into with that faggot attitude that your somehow spiting everyone who went to college. Also going to a pre apprenticeship in no way guarantees you will get apprenticed.

>welders

>dumb rednecks thing making $16 an hour is making bank
>went to collage and got a job making $40 an hour
>less then a year later im making $47.50 an hour

>somehow im the retard.

I'm going to a university for a double major in Architecture and German.

Some blue collar jobs will be automated, some won't.

Actually, not all welding work will be automated either -- I imagine the b-pressure pipeline welding will still be done by humans but that's a very small elite subset of welders.

also, there's other trades that will grow like CNC machinist/millwright

>government of Canada simply allowing ex blue collar workers to languish in the streets
nah they'll increase EI or implement some form of universal basic income before it becomes a serious problem.

>a double major in Architecture and German
Scum like you will be first against the wall.

>but i decided against it.
Good call.

Welding is safer than law or medicine kek

good luck. My uncle is an underwater welder and make 6 figs.

Welding is great and good ones make serious money, as long as you can put up with hot and terrible working conditions (confined spaces, PPE and heights).

Also, most welders specialise or become engineers.

t. engineer who started as a welder

ANy jobs suggestion for a young shitlord other then STEM or Liberal arts?

>When blue collar jobs are automated

Welding will not be automated within our lifetime.

>a young shitlord

>>>reddit

>$16/hr
Yeah, you really showed those dumb leftists!
Fucking kek there are really people that think like this.

Not for modernism. I'm going in for Neoclassical Architecture.

I don't mind those conditions but I heard welding is hard on your hands and arms because of the posture.

>I'm going in for Neoclassical Architecture
And you'll go out modernist or starve to death. Do some research on when the last neoclassical building was built. Anywhere in the world.

I didn't ask for stem related jobs.

It's hard on your lungs, too, especially if you're welding SMAW and working in confined space, those fumes are nasty

Ahhh. Love hearing this shit. Reminds me I made a smart decision joining a trade. 20 years old making $45k a year as a 2nd year apprentice in a low income area of the states.

>say whatever I want
>work 4 10 hour days
>no dumb floosies
>nobody to offend

I used to know a man named Chuck. He was homeless. Also he was a ex crack addict and a hardcore alcoholic. He used to be a welder and made great. Before he died he was close to blind and had to use a walker to get around. Really a cool old bastard. Just something for you friendo

Welding is worse on your lungs. The fumes are really bad for you.

>do you see the government of Canada simply allowing ex blue collar workers to languish in the streets
If they are white, they will let them die

what happened to your leaf

>double net income
Nigga that is straight retarded if you think your employer will let that shit slide. No wonder you are only making 38k.

>Also he was a ex crack addict and a hardcore alcoholic. He used to be a welder

Are you insinuating welding led to this fate, or that he was retarded and spent his welding money on drugs until he was homeless?

Can someone redpill me on how to get a better job? I currently make $18/hr, but it's nowhere near enough (I pay $1600 a month in rent).

I am you, but spicier

Sure. Good luck. Learning any sort of skill that differentiates you from the herd creates job security. I know several welders that have started their own businesses and have very comfortable livings.

Consider joining the military. Having a security clearance coupled with welding permits you to do construction at sensitive construction locations and make crazy bank.

The work isn't fun, I'm just a floater in a borderline sweatshop throwing steel around

However if you have a cool bunch of bros working with you then it's fun.

Make 22k in the navy tax free, live in barracks, cola pay and free meals.
Friends all about to leave college with bs degrees, so I'll be laughing with my qt Japanese gf

>used to be a welder
>he was close to blind
Should've wore a welding mask.

Nice work. I'm going to school for a machining certificate.

Takes about 4 semesters, but I'll be making loads and have a practical skill that can be put to good use. I'll be qualified in CNC setup and coding, and advanced manual machining.

Good work man. I'm currently in HVAC. Half of the people my age don't even know what that is, and that's why there's a HUGE demand for it.
Currently, I'm trying to get into commercial/industrial refrigeration. Working with big chillers and freezers and AC's. I know a guy that makes $45 an hour with all the benefits you can ask for, and that's not even counting all the overtime and side jobs he does. 'Cool' stuff like that.

The best part is colleges encourage it.

They get plenty of money channeling students into useless shit, and it's cheaper educating liberal arts people than physicists while still making the same tuition payments.

I had a computer education school that constantly tried to channel everyone into the office courses, regardless of aptitude- because it was cheaper to teach than the mainframe ones and could be done with bigger class sizes per teacher, for the same tuition costs.

I was thinking of going into welding, but jobs like that will be replaced by robots soon, so I decided to go into bionics and make badass robot arms and legs for people. I know some stuff about welding since my grandfather and his grandfather were welders.

>expects to have a middle class life simply for contributing valuable technical labor skills to the economy
Entitled milennials against

Republicans
>>Good luck getting a job with a Liberal Arts degree faggot!

Republicans in 2017
>>WHY IS MY COLLEGE CONTROLLED BY LIBERALS?

HVAC will never be done by robots too. Not in this lifetime. You would pretty much need a full blown cyborg, AGI and the physical ability of a human in the same package.

>replaced by robots
I'm a bit afraid of this, but it really doesn't seem like this will happen soon.

I'm thinking that while I earn money welding, I'll put money into stocks and bonds and shit.

Hive mind.

Jman welder here, let me tell you about my latest welding job

>be inside of marionette 8750 drag line unit replacing the swing stage from 3" to 5" steel
> floor is preheated to 300°f to prevent cold cracking
>joining wall needs to be locally preheated with a tiger torch also to 300°f
>in leather Jacket, coveralls ect.
>begin to weld the floor on my knees with knee pads for 12 hours a shift.
> my knee pads have melted to the floor
>the soles of my boots habe melted to the floor
>come out for lunch and coffee break
>literally soaked in my own sweat.

The floor is done after 4 weeks of constant work

>time to repeat the preheat process and use carbon arc gouging to gouge out any stress cracks that have accumulated in revolving frame.
>100psi air blowing melted metal all around you in a Confined space

Fun stuff pic related

Oh also I just started an electrical apprenticeship, to get away from the welding... sooooooooo Much more cleaner

>Drillers of earth.
Man that sounds cooler than what I assume it really is.

>be me
>be smart
>care about grade in high school
>get a full tuition scholarship from the state

Get on my level, niggers

>He will be a welder
Lol ok good for you user

Many welders making 250K in the bakken. Pay has went down a little, but most are still making close to 70/hr.

>Go for job
>HR chick filters through 300 applicants based on college prestige and gpa
>Into the trash it goes
Not saying your education is bad but HR is the firewall

>Be CS intern in college
>Make $20/hr
>Get a raise every semester
>Next raise will be in August where I'll make $21 an hour and some change

As long as it all makes you feel better about not going to college.

Where do you go that you can get paid internship? Everyone around here offered 'experience'.

Oh and I made 42$/h with overtime after 8 hours for 24 day stints

Universities near the top tech cities have no problems finding a good internship that pays. Nobody that I know works an unpaid internship, and I've never seen one offered here.

Now try making more than this guy
And also try not to lose your job to Indians or code monkeys in the coming years.

It just HAD to be a fucking burger saying this

trade schools are best schools.

mechanical tech, electrical tech, instrumentation tech, diesel tech, and welder.

as a plant engineer/millwright it took a few years to go through all this schooling, but being employed by a small company where everyone knows you by name and the owner greets you with a smile and a handshake is sweet as fuck. $45 an hour isnt much for what i bring to the table, but fuck this is a comfy job.

>Has to work overtime in order to make $42 an hour
>Has to be on his knees for 12+ hours every day

Ideal working conditions.
There are people I work with that make just as much if not more with a regular 35-40 hr work week.

Give me a break.

No I make 42$/h normal time, it's 63$/h for OT.

I made 5500$ bi weekly after tax with my 150$/day per diem

Depending on where you live that is either pretty alright or pretty shitty.

right out of college should land com sci in the 100k range on the coasts and 60-70k in flyover states.

within a few years, if you aren't a shit for brains, you will at raise your salary at least 50%

Tfw I made $9500 in one week in muh trade

Then taxes.... Feels bad man

Trade jobs are the true redpill

9500 CAD you mean

i am sorry you're too big of a pussy to work hard friend

You will never get to an executive position with a trade job. Unless you start your own business you will literally never be a high-flyer. Ever. In your life. You see all those images and movies with nice apartments and expensive wine? That's not you. It will never be. You're what 18? And already a lot of your future has already been determined for you just with that one decision.

Welders make a shit ton you idiot.

Implying an expensive apartment and wine will make you happy.
Implying he cannot rise through the ranks as a foreman, then superintendent, job coordinator, then site manager.

Yeah, really poor decision. Better get back to owing the govt/banks 60k

You've got your priorities fucked up.

Sure mate, I'm sure those lawyers and banking execs are fucking bitter that they could never make it into welder school.

Jealous of you guys. I work in sales and make about 200k but I really want to kill myself most of the time. Too fucking stressful.

you are literally retarded.

The fumes from welding are pretty hazardous to your health user. Maybe you should reconsider.

R.I.P. his life expectancy

I'm really interested in hearing your story.
Can you please explain us why? 200k is a fucking dream.

You are seriously trying to argue that your blue collar retarded-monkey work will make you successful. I haven't even graduated yet and I already have a $48,000 job lined up, you will optimistically make $38,000.

>b-but i can double that in a year user

There is no shortage of talentless morons ready to take your job if you demand a higher wage.
