Why are all "Nationalist" groups in the US basically Neo-Nazi groups? I though Nationalism was just being proud of your country? why does every Nationalist website I come across have Nazi imagery?
Why arent there groups out there that stand for western values that dont embrace the Neo Nazi imagery? does it just come with the territory?

Literal Hitler worship is an albatross around the neck of any third position movement. I used to compare the people who got into the far right only to go as far basic bitch neo-nazism to the kids in middle school who said they were punks because they liked Sum41.
I'm pretty sure the word nationalism is often adopted by Neo-Nazis over patriotism because Hitler was a National Socialist,but that's my idea.
So how does someone express being proud of being an American and stand for wester values, without being tagged as a Nazi?

Well I was about to recommend better fascists than Hitler, but if you just want American patriotism and something vague about "Western values" I think you'd be happier with Gavin McInnes desu.
1) Hitler is a rejection of the modern order, because everything that happened after 1945 is specifically opposed to Hitler and the Nazis (including surviving fascist movements, which is how they survived). Many far-right movements are primarily a rejection of the Post-Modern order, and a coherent political movement second.
2) The imagery is pretty neat
3) If you manage to get all the way through Mein Kampf, you might not agree with everything he said, but he'll come across as likeable and sympathetic.

I got a couple of theories. One is that overtly Nazi groups are just riding the military might of the third Reich to appear challenging. When in fact they are imposters dressing up in black clothes wearing stahlhelms and combat boots since they're too "tough" for pressed brown shirts. Similar to nation of Islam adopting formal attire; to appear as more powerful and legitimate than they really are.

Its an empty feeling that means nothing of value without an ethos and a direction.
Nationalism is putting the interests of your nation before the interests of other nations.
A nation can be defined as a country or as a group of people.
If you are an American nationalist and don't believe that whites should remain the dominant enthnic group in this country, you are stupid. A country run by non-whites is not America anymore.

Most of the WN groups that actually do anything significant these days are past larping as National Socialist Germans.
At all the conferences and events these days, everyone just tries to dress as respectable as possible.
They would cringe if someone showed up in an SS outfit, for example.
It's ok to admire Hitler and the NSDAP though because of him being one of the greatest men of all time and is important to know the history in order to combat Jewry.

That's not true though. The Proud Boys are openly nationalist, but they don't permit Nazis to join.
