The exploit got leaked and hackers got their hand on it. They used to exploit to create a ransomware which encrypts your files and asks for money to decrypt it. The virus infector almost 5% of the worlds computers in over 100 countries in a few days, shutting down hospitals and yet to be seen if any critical infrastructures are to be hit.
