i was born in '91 but have been watching "The Americans" takes place in the 80s.

seemed pretty fucking BASED to be honest

>cold war
>fall of the soviet union
>massive amounts of high potency cocaine
>no cell phones or internet
>culture, music etc. wasnt complete shit

if i could id live then instead of now I think

Wasn't a bad time. 80's were pretty comfy with the BTFOing of the commies. Nobody had computers and cell phones, hell I remember people who didn't even have regular land lines. Television was pretty nice, every show and cartoon was about being a cop or in the military. I remember growing up always having everything I needed and my parents and older siblings never worried about work. School was nice, spics and niggers had their own classes separate from ours and in the special kids corner of the school because they couldn't fit in. Bullying was a thing and getting in fights was nothing too bad, you made friends this way. Life was good back then.

82 here, it was the best. you 90+ guys really missed it, let me paint you a picture.
>doin sick jumps on our bikes (no helmet)
>playin sports with your friends till it was too dark to see
>dad grilling it up on sat while you run around with the neighborhood kids, all the dads are chillin drinkin beers and cigars
>moms gots cold ecto coolers for you kids
>kiss ashley while playing spin the bottle
>die hard on hbo tonight
>everyone got two scoops
>building a tree fort 3 stories tall
>santa was actually real in 80s
>play super mario bros
it was as good as you have heard, and then some. the last great era.

I'd watch my wife get BLACKED every single night, it was amazing. I didn't have social media to tell others though so i would just satisfy my needs by telling my mother/father in letter format. Those were the days, so glad that superior black penis is on the rise again and stupid whites like myself can't compete.

fuck off faggot

People didn't have land lines? Maybe in Mexico nigger.

Can't handle the truth son? All the girls want black dick, the 80s weren't an exception :)

growing up in the 90s was pretty cool.
>home PCs were just starting to enter homes so technology hadn't really taken over our lives yet. >went outside to play with other kids from the neighborhood.
>clinton got elected but there still wasn't hatred for the other party.
>my parents told me their generation was being irresponsible with spending and my generation would have to handle it.
>kids were free to do a lot more, go out and skate and go to movies. parents hovered less.
>companies didn't penny-pinch. my old man had a solid job but even my friends' dads who had meh jobs were getting paid enough to own a house and raise a family.
weirdest thing is i always had this nagging feeling like everyone was too casual with their money, families and companies. it wasn't til like a decade later when the housing bubble burst that i finally understood that that's how bubbles work and that my inclination was right all along.

90s were alright to grow up in. i don't miss it but i feel sorry for kids now that grew up in front of TV screens and we all wonder why they're not socially adjusted.

Born in '87.

The best part was the early days of the www. My family had a few computer programmer friends, so I had access before most people. Was there to see probably the first web meme, "...ate my balls". Geocities and angelfire pages made by nobodies. If you knew how to change the screensaver, people thought you were a l337 hacker. Corporations hadn't taken over yet, so all the content was made by real people, and you could browse for hours looking for random pages. You could even have your own personal web page!!!

Anonymity was encouraged. You weren't supposed to give out your personal details to anyone, so you could say anything. That's why Sup Forums is comfy; it reminds me of those earlier times.

born in '88 here

more or less the same shit. Politics, SJWs, people acting like every little thing was the end of the world. It just how people are and isnt anything new
the only difference now is the internet. It connected everybody to everybody so every one know thinks theyre a special snowflake and can get in your face with it and there is no escape. I dealt with the same shit in the 90s with the clintons (Lol) and sjws before there was a name for them. We just called them fuck heads and told them to leave us alone. Now there is zero anonymity and social media is in your face 24/7 so you cant do that anymore

it honestly sucks, I would give up all the wonders of the modern internet to go back. But I cant, so I hopped on board with this and avoid every other form of social media that I can

>no internet
>no cell phones
>no stds

It was cash bro.

People were far more friendly. You could talk to any stranger and it was normal. No one was a scared pussy when you talked to them. You could walk into a convenient store and have a chat with people in there. Then go have a party with strangers. There was no social media, no phones. NO PHONES AT ALL. So all you could do is talk to people you encountered near you.

Also each person was far more individual and unique than now. Due to social media and widespread conditioning everyone has become exactly the same. They all strive to be the same carbon copy of each other, what is seen as "cool". Facebook/Instagram is the worst for this. The collective there creates an ideal that you must match up to or you become an outcast.

oldfag here let me tell you
>friday night comes and its pizza night (always dominos)
>binging on check colas in my friends downstairs - which is a full game room with pool table, full size skeeball machine, 3 arcade machines, and a 60 inch projector - play NES all night
>being out way past dark on bicycles, especially on the weekends
>having crush on neighborhood QT with hair band metal and mall rock playing
>boats, beach
>chucky cheese was lit and not full of degenerates - dark like a dungeon too
>HBO on Friday nights - Tales from the Crypt and Dream On (see some titays)
>Sat morning cartoons - some friends get together for breakfast and playing with action figures during cartoons
>PCs were a hobby at best
>neighbors Toyota Cressida is like a spaceship inside
>cars talked to you
>Stalone, Murphy, Jackson, Spielberg, Star Wars
>Nintendo Power mags
>Getting yelled at by parents for calling Nintendo tip line
>Dukes of Hazard, Explorers, Knight Rider, Star Trek TNG, Real Genius
>All movies with kids - kids are fucking geniuses
>No gangsta rap
>SNL was actually funny
>Fuk

#1 rule of internet was dont post personal info, myspace era ended all that. i still abide by #1 rule

Its the golden age of jacking off right now and nobody appreciates it.

I remember early internet porn. Be jacking it for two hours and MAYBE you'd see three tits.

Kids these days!

The only socialists were college profs

Baller AF.

The nostalgia is cutting like a knife

lmao

I have dedicated porn drive

Then there's the pics on another drive scattered all over

>Pizza or Fish and Chips on fridays

>People used to be able to smoke cigarettes >EVERYWHERE
>Cars were boxy and you fucking loved it

These. '79 here
>bike riding all day
>knock on your friend's door. "can Jimmy come out and play?"
>out all day climbing fences and exploring. parents don't worry
>finding teenager's hang-out spots in the woods. empty beer cans and random porno mag pages
>teenagers were tough, listened to heavy metal
>renting NES games and staying up all night to beat it
>always outside
>rotary phones. if no one home you don't know where they are

Stranger Things does a good job with the mood. ET, goonies... that's the mood

The only bad things would be making plans with people and them not showing up, no way to contact them see where they are etc??

Dude it was fucking awesome. Propaganda was not sophisticated like it is today, so by and large you weren't bombarded with it every day from every angle.
People were much less emotionally obsessed so programs and films and everything else were made to tell a cool story or for you to enjoy, so they were much better in every way.
As a kid i watched tv that focused on instilling values like bravery, honour and fighting for freedom and justice like he man, transformers, action force (gi joe), M.A.S.K. These shows treated kids like adults, they would use complex scientific and technical terms to try and encourage realism which would in turn add them to your vocabulary without even realising it. Nowadays they make fucking baby noises and cooing sounds so kids feel soothed.
There were no cameras everywhere so you were free from the feeling of being constantly monitored. No mobile phones so when you wanted to see someone, you would have to ring their house and if they werent there you'd get on your bike and go find them.
You could go anywhere. I used to ride for ours. Watch the goonies it was like that, where everything was just cool for the sake of being cool, without an agenda.
It was far less cliquey. You had geeks and jocks, but they weren't enemies really, they just didn't hang out together.
The greatest time in the history of mankind imo.
Before the programmes of guilt came. We were the freest men to ever live

Catholic HS 80s - people had sex & smoked some weed, drank beer but you kept all your shit on the down low to maintain your decent image. Reagan was awesome - Everyone loved America & hated communism - Leftist professors had to still watch what they said - nerdier/richer kids had computers / computer bbs and dial up to compuserve was like simpler internet / hacking just started in earnest / people still talked/did things with other people and liked it / drove parents car to meet up with friends for pizza/mall etc. and no cell phones so they had to trust you disappearing for hours. Everyone marvelled at early apple computers in stores...people said whatever they wanted and you just accepted it...you felt life was getting better each and every damn day

Man the 90s were great. Countries were white.Music was awesome. Relationships were a real thing. Fucking great time to be alive.

Al it of this shot people spew bout the good ole days are rose-tinted views. To me this is the biggest difference.

Everyone has 1000 followers on their little social media yet have autism and social anxiety to the point where randomly conversing in public is an insurmountable task.

It's a total coinflip to randomly strike up a conversation with someone you don't know now.

This and

>shooting off illegal fireworks your friend imported from a different state
>running over to your friends house and ringing his doorbell to see if he wanted to come outside
>grass stains on all your jeans
>walking home from school alone
>actually running around your neighborhood on Halloween and not going to the event at the mall
>going to the video rental store with your friend and a parent on a Friday night to rent a video tape. Get a few for not rewinding your last one

It was awesome like they are saying. I hate the current Sup Forums can not have this. Somehow you ended up with antifa and the DNC. Fuckemall.

oh yeah, forgot about the METAL SLIDES on the playground. Shit would burn you on sunny days.

Got a fee*

Also
>no one had ever heard of the internet
>your neighbor had a computer he could play snake on

Very sophisticated slide thread.

Seth Rich was murdered by the global kabbalistic death cult that runs american politics.

666 is not a number of evil in itself, but it is a number of power from the void and it can be used for evil. The star of "david" (solomon) is its pictograph and it rules our souls at this time until we learn how to break its spell.

Light always beats darkness.

Shed light.

Born in 79, NH. Played outside all the time, summer or winter. NES was amazing, to this day Rygar was the best game. Def Lepard, guns and roses, Metallica, even Phil Collins for music. The internet destroyed humanity. It was the last Pandoras box.

user, in england we have the pub. I'm not even joking it's such a shame that you guys don't seem to have the same drinking culture over there that we do here.
After work, you go for a beer. Because it's fucking cold and refreshing and makes you feel like working your ass off all day for some cunt was maybe worth it. Just stay for one or two.
At the pub, anyone will talk to anyone. I talk to random people all the time, just about random bollocks.

Born in 83 in NYC. You found your friends by calling their homes and speaking to their parents or get their attention outside of their window with a high pitched whistle.

We didn't have smartphones and most of our socializing happened outdoors.

We didn't lie on social media for likes because there were no social media.

Women were more tolerable because they didn't have Facebook likes inflating their ego.

All in all, it was nicer than it is now. But technology's advancements certainly has a place I just think it sucks (a bit) what it has done for socializing.

Brilliant. No internets, I actually had to play with friends and toys and act like humans have been acting for the last few thousand years

I was born in 88. I don't remember the 90s that well, 00s was more when I started to build my young memories. But I remember it being a much simpler time, snowstorms in the winter, trick or treating in the dragon costume my mom made me, watching Lion King in the movie theater, playing Pokemon Blue for the first time. The world didn't seem scary.

This.

Fucking stupid redditor. Now you're invading other threads to shit them up? kys

best saturday morning and before school cartoons too, voltron, thundercats, tmnt, transformers ect

>getting yelled at for calling Nintendo tip line
Top kek, thanks for digging that old memory out of my brain

i'm almost a wizard (too young mostly for this), but i remember
>woods porn
>bike jumps
>autistically screeching when dialup is interrupted
>technology is an enhancement/tool, not a lifestyle
>good race relations
>fireworks
>tree forts
>fucking awesome chuck e cheese knockoff places
>super soakers
>basically mutual trust with most people
>good economy
>real middle class
>lots of hope for the future
>college is unironically an easy ticket to being middle class

we wuz comfy n shiet
fuckin 9/11

Well, i grew up in a remote part of washington state.
Most of my early memories are of playing outside with my german shepherd, playing with toys in my sandbox, and watching VHS tapes my mom had duplicated from the video store.

I distinctly remember how each movie would be completely washed out with static for the first few minutes and then it'd clear up. Took me years before i saw how half of my favorite movies began.

For the longest time we only had UHF for TV. My dad had a motorized set-up where you'd twist a dial in the livingroom and you'd tune in to whatever channel you were trying to watch, but it had to be a strong signal. UPN never came in clearly and i had to watch ST: Voyager in horrible static.

At one point our neighbor sold us their satellite dish, which was a proper 20 ft diameter satellite dish on a motorized turntable and everything. I had a giant TV guide that told me the codes for the individual satellites and when the tv shows would be on. I punched the code in and the receiver array would move to the reprogrammed location and tracking.

But the goddamned things must have been low orbit or something because i could only ever get certain channels to come in at certain times of the day. The satellite came trucking over the horizon just as the Megaman cartoon was ending on some cartoon channel.

It wasn't until years later when we moved into the city that we finally got cable and i got to watch animes on the sci-fi channel. That was a neat time to be alive.

oh shit I remember woods porn

>Mid 90s

Everybody was white and stuff was cheap, people were rich. Cars looked better, cuckoodry was much less noticeable. Also those days were infinitely better for film photography

Oh man I remember when I was little our school had a massive playground basically made out of logs and steel bars. It was amazing:

>Shit was 2 stories tall
>Metal slides that would get scorching hot in the summer and
>A fireman's pole! Kids used to dare each other to lick it in the winter.
>Inclined monkey bars we used literally run on top of to get to the upper level. One bar was missing so sometimes kids fell through
>There was also a "net" made out of fucking chains you could climb (my buddy almost fell off this and died because he would have landed head first on the log base)
>A huge tractor tire half buried in the sand where kids used to pee inside
>Double horizontal monkey bars so you could race people
>Metal ladders to climb on top of shit
>A bizarre obstacle course that required a lot of jumping from one stump to the next. It caused a lot of bruised shins.
>A tire swing suspended from a universal joint so it could spin 360 and rotate freely, so we would push the swing in circles and then yank on one of the chains to set it spinning as you orbited the center point, and the challenge was to see how long you could stay on it without literally puking
>A big concrete pit with tetherball poles that used to turn into a lake whenever it rained

Man that park was so fucking fun. They tore it down in the 90s because it was a deathtrap, and replaced it with some shitty little playground barely the size of a schoolbus and no higher than 4 steps so kids couldn't fall off of anything. What a joke.

90s life was comfy, I didn't worry about shit.
Tons of ways to spend the day, always outside and playing.
Fast foward through technology becoming more prevalent. Got a kikebook and now it's like living in another world.People aren't the same at all. Nothing is personal. Nothing is real. Everything is done in vanity, for the approval of peers.
I would delete my account but I'm convinced from Sup Forums redpills that zucc has a shadow profile of me.

Shit sucks man.

every single one. i feel like we grew up together user

pretty gud
less niggers and other shit skins

when i was like 5 or something got a legit 4 foot AT-AT walker toy. I miss my childhood sometimes
91'

Do you remember the smell of those tire swings on hot days? I almost barfed sometimes if I smelled them too hard.

The mall? Huh? Is trick or treating no longer a thing in America? It's dying here.... but it still exists

I rode my bike in a cemetery. It was pretty fun. It was by a river.
I have photographic evidence that the grass was greener. like, deeeeeep fucking green.
Also if you love your kids at all you'll hang the sheets to dry outside so they can run through them. That was fun.

Mom and dad bought Rolex like it was nothing. Sure, they didn't have all these expensive electronics we spend our money on today... But still

Dad had an apartment, a sailboat and two kids by the time he was 30. At 34 he upgraded to a bigger boat, a younger wife and three more kids.

I'm 33, I have my own business and no home, no car, and no marriage and kids. No car and no marriage is from choice, whereas owning a home looks like an impossible dream to me that I have given up on.

Born in 1970. Yeah, the 80's were real fuckin' neato, but nobody in this thread so far seems to remember the threat of nuclear war we lived under in the early 80's. We didn't know who was going to start it, but it was a real, credible threat.

Anyone watch "The Day After" on TV when it aired? I was 13, and thought that had a good chance of being our future.

Comfy and awesome in several ways, yes, but those years had a cold, dark undercurrent as well.

the '20th century vibe' lasted up until around 2007 or so in some form or another.
the nights moved much slower, and were so much more 'vivid'. if you didn't experience it, you are a lost cause and eternal millennial unfortunately.
you normies have no idea how different the world felt.

I was born in 1986, but I don't know what to tell you. I've never felt any particular fondness for the 90s, although now, as an adult, I can appreciate some aspects of it. I romanticize the early 80's for some reason.

Born in 86. Honestly life before 9/11 was just better. That seems like a huge dividing point. Technology while making life more convenient has made it so much more complicated and there is an emptiness, a void now. What I would do to go back and be a kid again. I am very nostalgic for the past.

Halloween is almost dead in some areas, for a few different reasons. The biggest one is that the sense of community in neighborhoods has been utterly obliterated in the last ten to fifteen years. Most people here don't know their next door neighbor's name. Another problem we ran into was soccer moms getting worked up over urban legends and safety concerns and then proceeding to get door-to-door trick-or-treating banned at city and township levels. Few people in the millennial age group bother to celebrate the holiday in any meaningful way, it's become just another excuse to get drunk and get laid. In the last few years they've even started dropping the pretenses about it and not even hosting costume parties.

It's a goddamn shame watching culture whither away like that. I spent all last Halloween waiting by my door in an old Soviet CBRN getup with a satchel full of candy, and there wasn't a single knock.

Sometimes if you talk to someone in USA they will run off screaming yelling "RAPE! RAPE!! RAPE!!"

>Nobody had computers

I just imagined all those Apple IIs, Commodore 64s, IBM PCs, etc?

Is woods porn the tattered Penthouse you'd find in the woods, left behind by one of the tough kids everyone was scared of i.e. Kelly Leak.

Playing tag and all sorts of games with the local kids. Go up to the woods, or bush as we call it, catch some yabbies in the local creek, yabbies are like fresh water lobsters, they were rarely big enough to eat but it was still fun, make some fires in the bush and cook some sausages, dumb ass kid threw a smoking piece of wood into a tree, we leave, an hour or two later a bushfire starts, fire brigade has to come, we ride our bikes up there and innocently asked what happened , they say it was a bunch of dumb kids, they looked pretty happy to have something to do.

I can tell you this, rock music was still a thing and music other than pop sluts and niggerbeatz existed.

>ywn ride bikes around the city for hours with your frends
>ywn explore abandoned factories and kick holes through asbestos walls
>ywn light an abandoned car on fire an run away

all these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Born in 85. It was fucking legendary. Some shit was way more expensive in real dollars, but it was still fucking legendary. Actual deregulation, having money, awesome vidya, TV stations went offline at night instead of running shitty infomercials. Beavis and Butthead were incredible and have yet to be really repeated.

Early 90s, everyone laughed so hard at Ross Perot even if he was just an early, less edgy version of Trump.

Bill Clinton was a fucking disaster. Shit got shitty fast.

You could rightly, sardonically, thank Jews for that.
Yours is the most disheartening post I've read all day.

ashtrays, ashtrays everywhere, restaurants, grocery stores your car(do new cars even have ashtrays?), the doctors office. the smell makes me want to vomit.

My childhood was complete shit and none of this is familiar. There was a war on drugs, and thats how my dad made money so he was in prison that entire time. My mom was an addict so nothing else to say really I spent a lot of time alone watching shit tier tv for hours a day and had very few friends because I went to a new state every 2 years.

The action movies were nice. Cyberpunk. I didn't know about the Jews yet so I enjoyed their television and comedy shows.

Sorry to hear that user. Not necessarily child abuse but this take on childhood always spoke to me.

youtube.com/watch?v=wyWZeRqdAKE

>tfw they're ripping all these old castle playgrounds out and replacing them with shit

I have fond memories of the innocence of childhood.

There was hope for the future.
Our neighbourhood felt safe.
We'd go out in the forest, just to explore. Rode bikes all the time.
We saw all the environmental propaganda on TV (cartoons, movies like ferngully) but didn't actually worry or believe that the planet was being destroyed.
Made friends via dialup BBS, still know a few sysops to this day.
First internet access was via a unix shell in '91 or '92, sunos if I remember right.
Dad had shoeboxes full of pirated games on floppy disks.
New NES and SNES games for christmas and birthdays.
The excitement of every new computer you bought because it had 2-4 times the cpu clock frequency as the previous computer did.
First networked game of doom, then quake in the early 90s, unforgettable.

We were protected from the harsh realities of crime and high interest rates which existed back then, now we get to worry about the high cost of housing and general anxiety about the absolute STATE of the world. Basically everything became shit around adulthood and 9/11 when liberals started hugging muslims on TV for some fucking reason.

>pub
Started doing that, last year in fact, a beer or two after work at the least pretentious pub in town. No hipsters, no chads, no stacies, just working class folks and sometimes their wives. I walk in with my bro and without even saying a word the bartender has beers ready for us. Feel good man even if I'm trying to drown away the pain on occasion.

Niggers aren't allowed on pol. Please leave.

oldfag born in 81 here.

90s were awesome.

jobs everywhere.

Had to try hard to be unemployed.

doom

pretty cool

played outside all the time; biked around the neighborhood with friends. skateboarded in junior high. played football, basketball, baseball, etc.

t. 1981

sounds like you probably live in some liberal shithole like SF or Boston

in most of the country liberal bullshit had not infected the national media yet; no internet so didn't have to worry about them there either

>SNL was actually funny

this

Politically correct was seen as a silly point less pratice.
We wuz used to mock each others with kike and rabbi as insults in front of teachers without them saying anything
To see nude Women you had to lurke in newstand or find old porn mags in woods etc

Yeah, I love that show, only thing is I have a feeling that it's slightly commie propaganda. Anyone who's even slightly commie could be heavily influenced by that film to think communism isn' that bad.

Oh the 90's... We were so naive...

>To see nude Women you had to lurke in newstand or find old porn mags in woods etc

Or have your mom's friend's mildly retarded husband forcibly show you his porn collection.

same guy who did beavis and butthead also did office space and idiocracy

>riding bikes (no cell phones, so your mom would just yell at you for coming home late)
>recording shows on tv (Star Trek TNG, DS9, Seinfeld, X-Files)
>watching shit movies with your bros and ripping on the movies
>playing board games
>playing original SNES Mario Kart, Chrono Trigger, Mario games, etc

But most importantly, no smartphone/tablet/social media shit.

The world was great back then. I'd give anything to go back.

Life was great. We didnt have the fucking Euro, so food and stuff in general was cheap as shit. I didnt know what a fucking muslim was till I was 12 years old. TV was actually fun to watch. No PC bullshit. Normal people everywhere. No crime.

Shit started to change late 90's. Muslims and niggers everywhere. Left wing cancer everywhere. My neighbourhood started to gentrify so prices went up. City is now overcrowded. Even shitty neighbourhoods now expensive. Crime risen everywhere.
Euro came prices doubled overnight for everything.

Cancer keeps growing.

I want the Fuhrer back.

Dutchfag from Amsterdam

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?

80's kid and 90's. God how I miss it.
The only reminders of the years is my discman and my CRT tv which I still own and works to this day.

>what is 4:3 perspective?
>what is a vcr?
>what is a beeper?

Technology was simple and cell phones weren't really a thing, we had pagers or beepers and if we got a buzz, went to a land line or pay phone on the corner to call. When cell phones did come out and weren't bricks, the service sucked and the only game you had was a snake.

There wasn't this texting and driving, cell phones in movie theaters, and taking a girl on a date only for them to sit eyes glued to their phone checking their status on facebook rather than putting it down for a damn second to get to know you.

Where did the times go??

Kek
