The possibility of Trump’s impeachment is growing more likely every day. Evidence is mounting that key members of Trump’s campaign and administration colluded with Russia, effectively tainting the 2016 election.
Under normal circumstances, if a president is impeached, the vice president is next in line to lead the United States. But we are not under normal circumstances. If Russia did indeed interfere with the election and Trump is impeached, Vice President Mike Pence cannot assume the presidency.
Furthermore, Pence is surrounded by plenty of his own controversies that we simply cannot ignore. There are too many questions about whether Pence lied about not knowing former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s problematic ties to Turkey or whether he knew that Flynn discussed sanctions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak when he was acting as head of Trump’s transition team.
Not to mention the inconsistencies between his and Trump’s explanations of former FBI Director James Comey’s firing. Mike Pence continually offers defenses of the Trump administration’s actions that just don’t add up.
We cannot let this administration assault our democracy. Yes, President Trump must be impeached, but Mike Pence must go too.
