How is it that eastern european coutries in EU are considered hellholes by westerners?
I live in 99.9% white country, with no terror attacks, cheap and good quality food, still full of beautifull nature... and yet most westerners living in urban multiculti cities with terror atacks every week and/or fucking warzones (Aleppo) will tell me their country IS the civilized one just because they earn few more shekels than i do.

My uncle lives in western poland and worked as a traveling salesman, selling office carpets. 15 years ago he built for himself and his wife a large, beautiful house with a big garden, owns two cars and just sold a piece of land for a sizeable amount, but he's still convinced that french or british people have it so much better

Yes, we have lower living standards - but we have crossed the threshold of acceptable living standards. Once you have supermarkets, cars, infrastructure etc any improvements you get in the West are just incrimental, not life-changing. Besides, any large Eastern European city has all that a Western one can offer in terms of entertainment and shopping - malls, IMAXes, etc.

Eastern Europe has good nightlife, good bars, good clubs. Infrastructure is not as good as it can be, but it is definitely passable and always getting better. You have all your amenities. You have better mobile and internet coverage and speeds than most in the West. It is glorious.

If you make a good wage, you live a better life actually than in the West, at least in my experience after over a decade in the UK and USA. My money goes further. I can get fresh vegetables and eggs and dairies if I drive out of the city and visit a few select villages. My supermarkets stock all the exotic shit I need. Food is generally better. Drinking culture is better too.

People are people everywhere. But once you get a close knit group of friends, we are like family here. Girls are hot, even though some of them are shitty and dumb. But that's girls.

Every month I am either in the mountains or the seaside. Life is relaxed and safe - unlike what people in the West believe. Crimes are mostly confined to villages and ghettos full of gypsies. No fucker is going to blow up a Bulgarian concert.

Life here is good. The West can keep imagining this is a hellscape, it suits me better.

I live and work in the US, and it's 100% true that if you made money here in Eastern Europe the life is better than in the US. Safer, way hotter chicks, cheap property, can have a house on the coastline, house on the Danube, flat in the city, like nothing. Food, drink, cigarettes, night life are all way cheaper as well.
Along with the women being on average much more beautiful they are also much less liberal and anti-racist. I can say gypsies/sand niggers/niggers are subhumans the first night I meet a girl and she'll laugh not trip out like in the states.
But it all comes down to JOBS, and there are no good ones here.

So, I was in your country (and the US) for a number of years. You have to understand that the 1990s were indeed hellish in Eastern Europe. That is where a lot of your perceptions of the place also come. This stretches into the early 2000s. People who came during that time were actually some of our best (not blowing my own horn) - educated, hard-working. This is the time when people weren't in the EU and we couldn't come if we didn't have skills. This is when you benefited from many of our highly educated, highly skilled people - especially engineers and doctors.

With the EU, the borders were open to those who didn't have the same skills. General labourers, craftsmen, apprentices, criminals. That is when they came over to try and make a better life. But this was also when the countries had an economic upswing. A lot of the more educated people - like me - came back then. I knew that I could have a better life in Bulgaria than I did in the UK.

Even Polish plumbers are going back, Bulgarian electricians etc. What you will be left is with the scum - the people who can't make it anywhere, whether it is Bulgaria or the UK.

I'm going to work in the UK is synonym for I fucked up my life and I dont know what to do so I might as well go to UK and try to make big moneyz. The internet and the global networked economy has made it more than possible. You just need to have the skills, as you do everywhere. Plus my friends who are IT specialists and work here in Sofia get better pay than IT specialists in the UK, including allowing them to travel to places like Peru on holiday on a whim.

But what you say is the best. Have a flat in Sofia, a seaside home near Varna, and looking to buy a small house in the mountains (otherwise I have a 2-week slot always bought at a house I like to stay there). Property is cheap, and it is fucking great.

The polish people in Britain are in Britain because they can't compete with educated people in Poland so they're working abroad for a few years to save up and return to Poland to buy a house in some village and spend the rest of their days fucking and drinking.

If you speak polish + English any outsourcing company will hire you. The salaries are certainly low but your money goes further. Its not a problem if people just desire to go abroad for a holiday.

Canada is beautiful indeed, I have visited. But if you call this gay, then yes, you are a bit delusional too. Also, it is down to what one prefers. I like our mountains, I like villages that are quiet and preserved for ages. Not a stormweenie either, the mountains I love are full of Pomaks (Bulgarian Muslims). But these people are a lot different to the Muslims you get over there, partly because they were converted Bulgarians, partly because they have actual values and as usual the Balkans "balkanized" Islam rather than the other way around (e.g. they eat pork and drink rakia, and they don't stone everyone).

Welcome to the international world Jan. Soon it'll move further eastwards when the salary gets higher. Its a lot of fun to hear about Polish people working with Indians and how frustrated they are at their inability to work well.
The good thing is however is that companies do respect this. There are a few french, german, swiss people here in Poland who are working in a company here in Poland because the experience is very relevant. Then in a few years move back to the home country and go into a high paying job. Its a simple pattern. Lots of polish people do this as well and typically the job is higher paying and they expect you to work less.
I find this always works. I know shit polish but I'm always applauded.

Don't underestimate how much of our scum was exported especially in the early days of 2007. Increasing numbers of students are coming back. Increasing numbers of educated people are staying here. Dunno how old you are, but in the 90s and early 2000s ANYONE with a good degree left. ANYONE. Now more and more people are staying. The tide has changed.
