I am worried about it. I'm worried that faux-socialist douchebags are going to clamor for it until the government uses it as a backdoor to censorship of the Internet.

Bigger things to worry about. It sucks yeah, but it doesn't compare to the Muslim problem, or the destruction of western civilization.

i honestly care about it more than anything else going on now. I even believe Seth Rich was wacked by the DNC but can't even bring myself to care about it as much because it will be covered up and go no where. I have little hope for a swamp draining and net neutrality is the next thing I care about because it will affect my line of work and maybe even put me out of a job.

>don't allow ISPs to block content
>backdoor for government censorship of the internet

I'm not exactly sure how this line is drawn.

Thanks for not understanding what the fuck net neutrality even is. You need to return to reddit with all the other tech-illiterate morons.

>net (((neutrality)))
Yes, goy, the Internet must be controlled by the loving government officials! Before Obama the Internet was bad! Support net neutrality, goy!

the businesses we're about to put in charge are going to be far worse

you know this site will die right

not just you man, im half hoping that as soon as it happens the ISPs go so overboard and destroy so many jobs it causes rioting

about the only thing that might change shit in this hellhole country

Where were you educated? Comedy Central?

And people will stop paying them because they can no longer access the sites they want to. Then another company will undercut them by offering access to the sites people want.

This cartoon is fucking shit.

who the hell is just gonna become an ISP

the cable companies have had a virtual monopoly for years. how many jobs will die because their companies cant function

Based on what other anons have said, it sounds to me like it simply puts a supply and demand on the internet, which in a way would be good because there would be a natural ebb and flow of popular sites. Things like reddit and its liberal ownership would be moot because other, less popular, less expensive sites would be visited more. Rinse and repeat.

But I don't know much more about it and I'm sure those guys sugar coated it and left out important bits of information that works make it bad in our eyes.

Yeah, they have had a monopoly BECAUSE of government regulation.
We need to push for gigabit fiber anyway, cable is shit.

what specific regulation exactly
seriously enlighten me

net neutrality is not a policy that affects competition. There are other laws in place preventing small guys from competing with the CABLE COMPANIES. I should really research them to show you net neutrality idiots how cemented of a oligopoly it is so you stop saying stupid shit. FUCK

no, that would be if sites got more money for each visitor, like they do now

it will allow ISPs to filter what they like and charge people for website packages if theyre dumb and want to get slammed with public outcry. Nothing more.
if you cant name it it doesnt exist. the reason they have a monopoly is because they own the equipment, and theyre too big to be competed with.

essentially ISPs will have total control over what can and cannot be on the internet. That isn't competition.

Only one ISP is aloud to run a type of cable in the area. AT&T can't run coaxial cable in an area to compete with Comcast, they have to run fiber.

yeah because the internet is a part of the infrastructure and laying cables is a lot of work for them and the city

would you let every company who wanted to lay water pipes?

I am worried about it. The last thing we need is government-sponsored (((Neutrality))). Ever notice which companies are the ones supporting it? It's always a handful of liberal ones, over and over again. It's a ploy to gain more control over the media by literally controlling who can access it or use it.

>wants governments to be able to regulate the net like a nanny state
>doesn't want free market capitalism to be fostered to let people choose the better service
>doesn't want to do anything about the existing lack of competition in web service

Let's pretend I'm a surgeon. :
>I'm performing a remote surgery.
>I'm about to perform a heart prostination.
>All of a sudden my connection drops thanks to the tranny on the 3rd floor broadcasting her cunny.
>My robotic scalpel goes right through this poor fucker's eye socket.
>I get on my knees and fellate the obama sex doll that I'm required to have within 30 feet of me at all times.
>I put a 45 to my temple and pull the trigger.

fuck net neutrality. it can't happen soon enough

there will be no better service. When comcast shuts this place down and prevents your keyboard warrior protests because they dont align with their agenda, dont come crying to me

youre all trading government regulation for barely-there corporate control. Removing title II common carrier classification wont stop the government from doing what they want to the internet. they can still spy on you all they want. It only stops you and small businesses from having equal opportunities on the web.

>(((John Oliver))) starts shilling about it
>Me: "wtf, I love Ajit Pajeet now..."

I am worried about it. The only one's who are against it are retards who don't actually understand the point of the regulation and just resort to meme arguments such as "muh big gubment".
In relation to those people, have fun not being able to access Sup Forums because corporations are allowed to block it.

*barely-there government regulation for corporate control.

Hands off my internet, bud. You don't know what's best for me or anyone else. That's for us to decide.

this right here i dont know how people think that any corporation is going to let this site exist

we are the fucking definition of bad for business

youre not the one deciding moron, comcast and AT&T are making the decision for you

They both go hand in hand.

Can you imagine if the (((ISPs))) decided to shut down websites that called out the Muslim problem? It could be much more damaging than an attack.

and they fucking will
they'll do what cable does and filter out all but the most bland and marketable opinions and sites

Cause I am in america

youtube.com/watch?v=u-TjLV2d26k

the more people pissed about it, the better. Maybe the gov will finally further deregulate and actually allow some fucking competition for once

think long-term, not short. Net Neutrality is a band-aid solution to the disease that is ISP gov-enforced monopoly

Wow tell me more! What other responses can you copy and paste? Or are you just creative and bored?

internet needs to be a public utility, you cant have 20 companies all laying cables we dont have the actual physical space you idiot

there will always be at most 3 choices in an area

calling an argument invalid for not being new is the stupidest thing i've ever heard as a defense

>time warner shilling for net neutrality nonstop
>HURRR NET NEUTRALITY PROTECTS US LITTLE GUYS

How about you learn to use the internet, faggot?

>Hey [Anonymous User #215], aren't you worried about [BIG CORPORATION] doing [EVIL THING TRENDING ON SOCIAL MEDIA]? Vote for Net Neutrality today!
Thank you so much! You have definitely changed my mind, xir!

what are you even trying to say

no fuck off, get your dirty gov hand off me you kike

small biz and competition, they'll think of something, that's the point. Capitalism is creativity. I'd rather 3 choices than 1 any day

>you cant have 20 companies all laying cables we dont have the actual physical space

what did he mean by this

Hey, I've got a reddit account bro
That means we're cool

do you really have that much faith in the idiotic masses

there is no solution. internet requires cables. dig in your heels more, see if that helps

I would rather have 3 choices than 1 "Government-Sponsored(tm)" choice, you fucking cuckold.

>Someone who doesn't understand the point of net neutrality
The point of net neutrality is to prevent corporations from charging you to access certain sites and potentially block certain sites all together but I guess you'd prefer it if the internet was turned into something similar to cable TV. Net neutrality literally protects the digital free market of ideas. We've had it for years with zero problems. What you're advocating is censorship. There's not a chance that corporations are going to allow people access to websites such as Sup Forums or any site that discusses the Jewish question.
You're either dumb as shit or a crypto-kike.

fine then leave it the way it fucking is

i agree, there should be SOME competition, but giving way to complete corporate control isn't helping anyone but the ISPs

maybe if the internet were brand new, but its too integrated into society

>It implies net neutrality will flow with Ajit Pai
Really makes me think

>do you really have that much faith in the idiotic masses

do you really have that much faith in the corrupt government?

the solution is obvious. They don't necessarily have to dig cables, they'll cut deal's, they'll figure something out if it means outcompeting each other

I think you're slacking dumbass

kill niggers

youtube.com/watch?v=u-TjLV2d26k

ok but even if they do they'll also crush every smaller company underfoot in their rush to do it

there is no version of this where title ii classification drops and everyone is happier. think logically and unblind yourself for 3 seconds. This site and everything you love about the internet is about to either die or cost you an extra $20 a month.

What does this have to do with what I just mentioned? Not to mention, I doubt a heart surgeon would be using the same network as everyone else in the hospital. It would most likely be a dedicated network specifically for that sort of delicate work. Your argument is nigger tier retarded.

>B-but [ANONYMOUS USER #253], what about [TOPIC POPULAR ON RELEVANT DISCUSSION FORUM]? A-aren't you worried?
Get lost. Your signalling tactics don't work here.

Net neutrality is a tool for monopolies to stay in power. How do people not understand this?

wow you literally don't know how internet and network connections work

Give me an honest answer instead of a retarded ad-hominem attack.

then why are all the companies that have monopolies pushing for it

He's probably a 50 year old boomer who just gets butthurt when he hears the word "regulation" despite knowing nothing about the details of net neutrality and nothing about technology.

soooo youre just goin to ignore an issue because other people are talking about it

how unhinged are you

How does it work for electricity?

>dedicated network
What does that mean?
Did the ISP run a private?
>Oh shit, what is QoS ?!?!?!

>they'll think of something
Just fucking drown in bleach you religious fucknut.
You too, vainglorious dipshit. I'd rather have 1Gbps to the home for $20/mo like they do in First World countries (pro tip: the US is not a first world country)
>muh competition
Is a waste of resources.
You're a fucking dipshit too. Google doesn't have a monopoly. Comcast does. Facebook doesn't have a monopoly. Verizon does. Do you see the difference between pipes and content yet?

the same way it works for gas water and sewage you prick

because i ahve nothing to hide.

i meant pushing against it, i know comcast has the monopoly

>internet connections
HAHAHAHHAHAHAH

you're one who's blind into thinking Net Neutrality is the best solution. You're looking at each damn tree instead of the forest. Less regulation, the better. Small biz will find a way, people fed up will look for alternatives. If Big ISPs can't manage without the state, tough fucking luck, people will flock to what's better. Net Neutality is the status quo, the bluepill to keep you happy and distracted from the ISP monopoly.

stop fearmongering. The moment ISPs abuse their freedom, the moment their monopoly is questioned by the masses and the public unrest will finally deliver long overdue justice

You haven't given any honest arguments in support of it, don't deserve any answers, and in all honesty are probably a hired shill. Get out.

Test me cunt

With water I think you only get the one water company in the area.

But with electricity you can pay for different electric companies and they're using the same wiring through the city to deliver the electricity.

So shouldn't it be possible to have cables laid by the city or whoever, and just be switched onto whichever network you're paying for?

I've given actual honest arguments. You haven't made a single argument m8.
We got an internet tough guy here.

>Just fucking drown in bleach you religious fucknut.

go choke on your fedora, heathen

found the jew

sure
just get comcast to give up control of its cables
good luck with that

Sorry nm senpai. You're based.
>You're looking at each damn tree instead of the forest
You're looking at a desert of useless middlemen and imagining that someday you'll become one. The internet is too important to leave to a bunch of petty little martinets who want to make up new billing games.

Unless, due to competition and limited space and/or resources, someone develops an entirely new method of transmitting that data from place to place. Something different from even satellites, which don't need cables.

No way that kind of thing could happen though, right?

>b-but corporations!! you're a retard!! "muh big gubment"!!
Those aren't arguments. Enjoy your (You), shill.

This is for everyone who supports net neutrality:

youtube.com/watch?v=8j95dVw6Kbc

Keep in mind the video's 3 years old.

>tfw you try and duck it

That's it, hold up your iphone crucifix and maybe the lord of physics will bless you by nullifying information theory.
Fucking ignorant peasants who never setup a goddamned T-1 in their lives need to swallow a dick when the adults are talking.

I literally explained what the point of the regulation is here: Now fuck off with your retarded shilling. You've been exposed for the kike that you are.

>Small biz will find a way
the pharmacy down the street closed down last week because CVS moved in and stole all their business with lower prices. competition isnt the magic invisible hand we all thought it was. regulations need to be in place so that competition can even happen. sad truth, humans are greedy

>If Big ISPs can't manage without the state
the state is holding them back from making even more money and having even more control. they'll thrive without the state, its everyone else thats going to lose money

Did you just call yourself a retarded shill?
>The intellect that 10 bucks an hour pays for

>b-but corporations! the free market is evil! we really need ~ideeeeaas~!
>y-ou're a kike!
The first thing the shill does when failing is accuse his enemies of being jewish, that's when you know he's been found out for what he truly is. He sincerely believes that calling others this will cause them to recoil in fear just as it does to him. Sad. Just ignore him until the thread dies.

First of all, stop browsing reddit. Second, the telecoms are shilling so hard, they're flooding fake anti-net neutrality comments to the FCC's website.

Third, all net neutrality is... all it is, is making sure ISPs treat all data the same, regardless of its type, destination, or source. If you use up 5 GB of bandwidth on porn, it will be treated exactly the same as 5 GB of bandwidth on watching Netflix. Without net neutrality, companies can legally throttle your bandwidth to specific websites. Comcast can start its own streaming service and give preferential treatment to you connecting to it. They could slow down your access to competing services or make you pay extra for it.

Net neutrality has NOTHING to do with:
>internet censorship by the government
>actual bandwidth caps
>companies different plan offerings and pricing (as long as it doesn't discriminate between websites)

If you're going to keep being a stupid piece of shit, I suggest you get the fuck out and post on a more appropriate board:
>>>/reddit/

>Sup Forums didn't exist before net neutrality
You must be 18+ to post here.

I was pointing out an argument I made earlier. It didn't format right.
>says I'm saying the free market is evil
>meanwhile he wants to allow monopolies to regulate the digital free market by censoring and suppressing competition
Nice try faggot.

not unless you have the money for a literal fucking space program you cretin. do you have any idea how much money it takers to send ONE satellite into orbit

THIS
net neutrality doesnt let the government regulate traffic dumbshits, they do that because they can and no one can stop them.

the title ii of the communications act of makes ISPs common carriers. literally all it does can be summarized in two words: no discrimination

they cant refuse service or charge more without a legally defensible reason besides "we want to because money"

thats ALL net neutrality is, and everyone seems to think its the reason the NSA can see what kind of porn youre watching

if you want the givernment to stop spying on us then

This.

then protest that, not net neutrality. you've literally eaten ajit "sandnigger" pai's bullshit

Based Ajit about to BTFO all of you reddit fags lmao

there was always some regulation. now there will be none. internet regulation didnt start in 2014.

The government already regulates the internet so we should let them do it MORE and determine what is or isn't (((Neutral)))? I don't think so. If they do, then the right thing to do is encourage LESS government interventionism that will just suffocate American businesses.

read all title ii does is prevent ISPs from discriminating or controlling traffic. it doent give the government the ability to take websites down. the fbi and the NSA does that.

The kid's right. Net neutrality existed since the beginning of the Internet as a general principle. Net non-neutrality is fairly recent, arising only once the processing power to segregate and account traffic of different kinds and/or to different destinations became cheap.
>regulation does not have kind, only degree
This is why you corporate Republicans need to literally stick your (((dicks))) in a light socket to prevent your brand of credulous stupidity from reproducing.

>this regulation has been around for years
>somehow it's "more" regulation
>he doesn't understand the concept not allowing corporations to throttle and censor any website they want
>either that or he just thinks this is somehow a good thing
This is why you are a complete kike. I bet you're hired by ISPs to shill for this shit.
