The main purposes of WW1 were to:
1) overthrow all the governments in Europe with Marxism (see the Bolshevik Revolution that succeeded in 1918 in Russia, the German Revolution (1918-1919), the Hungarian Revolution (1918-1920)...
2) acquire land in Palestine for Jews (this happened with the Balfour Declaration in 1917) en.wikipedia.org
